  1. Sugababes are on course to have their seventh number one of the decade this weekend which means Madonna won't even equal their record let alone surpass it. She's still I think the solo female act with the most number 1s of the 00s. Howver, she tails behind Kylie in singles sales though and Celebration ain't good enought to do the 260k required to surpass her. Not sure of her sales in relation to Britney's.

  2. Madonna Israel trip sparks controversy

    Tuesday, September 1 2009, 13:42 BST

    By Catriona Wightman

Madonna has annoyed Jewish mystics on her recent tour of Israel.

The mystics are unimpressed with the singer's adoption of Kabbalah, Sky News reports.

Jewish television recently showed scenes from Madonna's dressing room, where Kabbalah book the Zohar was displayed.

However, Kabbalah purists argued that the religion can only be practised by men over 40 or by those who abstain from material desires.

Leading Kabbalah Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri said: "Madonna is not dealing with the real practical Kabbalah.

"We deal with spiritual issues of the soul, whereas Madonna is dealing with issues of the body as well. Her teaching of Kabbalah is erroneous."

Madonna reportedly enlisted a police escort for her visit to Israel.

  3. The GMTV intro made me laugh - Carla Romano is an obvious Madonna loon - she even has a dog called Rocco!

So Carla, is it a hit in the States? Oh year, it's number 1 on the US i-tunes dance chart and being Madonna, she won't have any problem getting played on the radio :lmao:

  4. I realise Lucky Star was a bigger hit in America than Europe - it was the reason the release of Like A Virgin was delayed but even when I got the first album, which I was blown away by on first play, I was never that fussed about LS. The video on the other hand is AMAZING - I remember my mum seeing it and asking if I'd really like to bring a girl like that home to meet her - little did she know :demonic:

  5. Bitch Got Booed: The Vadge Edition

Last night in Bucharest, Vadge got booed. For some of you, that little tidbit might be enough to keep you smiling in the soul for the rest of the day. So go with it. For the rest of you, Vadge got booed, because she told Romania that they need to stop discriminating against gays and gypsies. Tramps and thieves are still okay, I think.

Anyway, not everyone was loving Vadge's words and some showered her with boos. They need to watch out, because Madonna is bumping it with Baby Jesus! Baby Jesus could destroy them all with his sexyfaces and killer poses.

The most ADMIRABLE thing she's done in ages - bring on the BOOS for stuff like this.

Speaking of Baby Jesus, whoever booed at Vadge should've saved it for this audacity below. In case you haven't seen it, here's a 15-second preview for Vadge's new video "Celebration" featuring Baby Jesus and Paul Oakenfold. At first, I booed, then I laughed, then I dry heaved, and then I don't really remember what happened after that. Paul Oakenfold's moves did not agree with my stomach. They should stamp a surgeon general's warning on this shit.

Alas, this is the Madonna of today.

  6. For those "Dear Jessie" lovers, the video is on iTunes. :) I have a decent copy downloaded that someone had posted, so covered there. So, if you have the other two DVDs, you can get DJ and "Everybody" on iTunes. Excluding montage clips, Evita clips pulled from the movie and used as videos, the two Truth or Dare clips and other various here-nor-there videos (i.e. "Gambler" and "American Life"- The Geography Lesson), that about does it. The TOD clips are in the movie, anyhow ("Holiday" is directly lifted from the movie, to boot). If Virgin Tour ever hits DVD, then we have "Dress You Up."

"You Must Love Me" would be the only (previously released) video not readily available at our disposal, in some commercial form? I know it was released on the non-U.S. Evita DVD (not sure if that was worldwide, though). If iTunes adds YMLM at some point, there we go.

I love Dear Jessie but I don't need a cartoon clip commisioned by Warners on a definitive video collection.

Regarding the Evita stuff - I've said all along it should never be included on a Madonna GH collection - it's one of the few highlights of her career as an actress, not the many highlight of her career as a pop icon.

I'm also not particularly fussed about having videos for CFY and Live To Tell included. That said, I'd love LTT without the movie clips but I doubt that will be a nice surprise.

  7. sorry if already posted, but wea.com has the tracklisting for the 1 disc GH:

    •Open Your Heart

    •Dress You Up

    •Celebration

    No Miles Away :demonic:

Why they think Lucky Star is such a seminal track is beyond me - leaving aside dross such as OMC, it's in my list of least essential Madonna recordings.

  8. As others pointed out, NRM was performed once (for the Grammys in 1999) and there were strong indications she wanted to perform it for the Re-Invention Tour in the opening section. (I think it later got replaced by Frozen?)

I seem to recall it was going to follow Frozen but she thought the section would be too long or too self-centred.

IR is probably included because her dad loved the way she looked in the video -- and it was the first time he called her up to tell her he liked some of her work. (Aw! Isn't that sweet?! ) Or maybe just because she/they were feeling generous.

Oh I love the song and the video ain't that bad but to include it over a beautiful video, that a lot of work obviously went into on her part, and for a song from one of her hit movies is perplexing.
