  1. The video version is even worse than the dated radio edit. I've not seen it much when surfing the music channels but what I have noticed is that they're all practically back to back rotations of the current top 40 and airplay charts - I wonder why I even bother with Sky these days.

  2. :lmao: AS IF 4 non hits are a reason to give 1 and a half stars less.

If anything, the 1 CD will have worse reviews because you can't make a proper Madonna compilation on one CD.

It's more to do with the media predictability and the fact that they'll say things like 'despite the odd moment of glory, she's never managed to equal her 80s output'. Warners are pandering to it really with the commercial which is heavily 80s weighted.

  3. In an old issue of Record Mirror (who are crazy about her, LAP was their album of the year) from 1990, they asked many of the stars oftoday what they thought about Madge. Wish I still had it.

I'm sure I still have that in my archive - I also have a Melody Maker from 1985 with a similar piece, including a poem Joan Baez wrote after seeing her at Live Aid - all about how she'd have tears in her eyes in 12 months time, when her fame had faded :lmao:

OT but the mag I really regret binning was a copy of Smash Hits that printed a slanging match between Boy George, Pete Burns and Marilyn - the writer asked each of them what they thought of each other, told the person concerned and asked them to comment. :rotfl:

  4. What about "Supernatural"? "She's Not Me" is nothing like Blondie (unless you're comparing it to Thief Of Hearts), it's Donna Summer's "Bad Girls".

Madonna said she had Debbie Harry in mind when she was working on SNM - I don't get any Blondie in Supernatural either.

  5. The problems at Wembley were the 'cheap' seats and the fact that she put on an arena show for a stadium tour.

I'll definitely give her another chance - I just won't go if she tours next year - it's OVERKILL.

She should have known from the Radio 1 live weekend that the Hung Up rock version was a bad idea but she still included it along with the same version of ROL from CT. She needs time to recharge her creativity.

  6. She definitely needs to take a break - she's a SPENT FORCE creatively and doesn't even have her finger on the pulse anymore (Paul Oakenfold FFS :lmao:). Sad thing is she won't - she'll probably put Celebration flopping down to file sharing and cosole herself that she can make money from touring but the overkill from that is already starting to take it's toll - regardless of the much publicised income from it - it won't be so easy next time.

I honestly feel that leaving Warners means she'll slip into IRRELEVANCE in terms of her output from now on - she's already being tagged a HERITAGE ACT.

  7. In one old NME article circa 1989/1990 titled "Prima Donna" or "Pre Madonna" they said how she was like the precursor to Madonna. Debbie agreed, but said "her hardcore fans swear that she never ripped me off".

When Debbie was asked about M in a Mojo interview in 1999 Debbie played it down by saying she may have paved the way but had Madonna been born in war torn Bosnia she'd have still managed to get out and do what she did.

Debbie was definitely a precursor to Madonna and made it easier for female pop acts in general but apart from the odd hair do (later in her career) the only Blondie inspired thing Madonna's ever doen is Theif Of Hearts, I don't get any Blondie in She's Not Me. I think Debbie's people pushed for the media to latch onto it, in order to raise Debbie's profile during her re-emergence and it stuck.

  8. :flop: I feel bad for peopel who didn't enjoy this tour. Missing out on all the Madonna fun and the raw energy of this tour. Which dates did you go to again Queen Bitch?

Wembley Stadium - GC. Don't get me wrong, it had its moments but they were few and far between and I never thought I'd ever attend a Madonna show and feel so UNDERWHELMED. If she tours next year I won't be going, I'd rather remember the Madonna live experience, when she was at her best.

  9. NOT A MOMENT TOO SOON. So long S&S and Hard Candy.

Don't mind the album (don't love it either) but the tour was the biggest PILE OF WANK ever - the only notable highlight from the entire run was her bringing her kids on stage at the end of it.
