Didn't hung make it to #1 on the z100 request & that was like the only time they would play or something...maybe I'm totally wrong...
It made it to number 1 on the high noon countdown. Madonna is #7 on the top 9 at 9. I honestly dont know how each seperate countdown works or how they tally each, but Z100 tends to treat the top 9 at 9 as the most importaint one. I dont think HU ever even made it to that countdown. And for crying out loud, #7 is VERY good for Madonna. This is a station that plays toward the freakin radio Disney crowd. Most of their playlist is geared toward tweens and teens so the fact that Madonna is even charting on a countdown here is a big deal aside from the fact that even if the station as a whole is shit, it still is the #1 station in America. (Hell, she even passed Usher and his new song tonight on the countdown.)

80,000 downloads the first week? I see it doing WAYYYYY more than that its first week out.
I wouldnt be suprised if it outsells MooMoo on itunes the first week but Mariah still being ahead on the charts because of radio.

Damn! Almost halfway to HUs peak in only 5 days. I wish the video would hurry the fuck up. That will help big time I am sure.
And as for Urban not playing her...Was the not to be expected? Besides, I dont think it was even sent to urban yet.

I read that 4 MIN is #43 on the airplay list chart and that many radio stations wait until a song enters the top 40 before they add it......I think thats what I read. Anyway, is there truth to that?
And I agree, bombarding the hell out of radio stations does not seem to work. Someone posted a comment at Drowned Madonna that a fan had called up 103.5 KTU and baggered them about not playing Madonna's new song cause he hadnt heard it yet, when in fact they are playing it. (I have heard it twice) So acting like that gets no one anywhere.

Truth is that this is a shameful side of the America of today. Hopefully things will change after a Democrat goes back to the White House.
Im sorry but I almost dont know what to say to this. Hopefully if a Democrat does take the White House they are more focused on getting us out of Iraq then whether Madonna is played on KIIS FM. -
Its just weird that KIIS is not playing it, but HU managed to get 30 million without them so I will be happy if her new one can at least pass that amount. By the way, anyone know where HU stood on its 3rd day of release? I know from where I stand, I probably heard HU on the radio once at that point, unlike 4 MIN, which by now I had to have heard at least 15 times on the radio, and I really only have it on when I am in my car. (minus the first day it hit radio)

I think "American Life" had a BDS audience of 8.8 million after its first 2 days- but, I'd like to think 4M will fare better than AL.
Im suprised that AL still managed to reach 26 million then. I thought the negative reaction was so instant that it was being pulled after only a few days.

Her last #1 single on the hot100 was 8 years ago with "Music". It's time for another #1
God, that was 8 years ago already. How scary. I wish "Dont Tell Me" made it to #1 also. That song has gone on to become a Madonna classic here.

This is all VERY good news, but I am still not going to jump the gun just yet. Didnt Feedback also start out pretty good a radio and then sink like a stone? Im not trying to be Debbie Downer. I am thrilled that radio is giving it a chance, but I just hope reaction remains positive and more stations jump on board.
By the way..This sure as hell beats the last few Madonna releases where we got excited if it jumped up 0.0001 of an audience impression.

That explains why other TRL Queens like Mariah Carey & Kelly Clarkson actually had albums that sold 3-5 million copies to go along with their #1 TRL videos. I always wondered why Madonna only sold 1.6 million of COADF despite having 2 #1 songs on TRL.
Madonna's sales had nothing to do with TRL. It had to do with radio only giving a luke warm reception to HU and ignoring the rest. If HU, Sorry, GT, and Jump had been played 24/7 on the radio like Kelly's and Mariah's songs i am sure Confessions would have sold much more.

Did anyone mention this yet??? I just read that 4 MIN made its debut on Z100s top 9 countdown tonight at #8!!!!! That is HUGE considering the fact that I dont think HU ever made their night time countdown.

The song is getting a good amount of airplay so far but the song is being released to US iTunes the same day as MOOriah's song which has been on radio for over a month

Would "4 Minutes" have the same success ( I now it is a little early to call it that, but...) on Radio without JT? I think not, but it would still get more airplay than HU.
Well Timbaland and Timberlake help, but at the same time there is obviously still an interest in Madonna cause no one cared about Duran Duran's last song even though Timbaland produced it because well.....No one cares at all about Duran Duran anymore. At least not the top 40 radio listening crowd. Thats what is amazing about Madonna. She is going to be 50 yet she can still tap into a young generation like no other artist her age before or after her.

Seriously, those who get HOT 97 am I joking here? Even the DJs sound like they are two seconds away from busting caps in someones ass. Crazy.
Though I must say, way back in the day HOT 97 played nothing but dance and freestyle music. Those were the days. Ahhhhhhh.

I would have never in a million years EVER would have guessed Hot 97 would EVER touch a Madonna song!!! It had to have been a joke. I am speechless....Probably because my toe is in my mouth.

And not to mention that most of her #1s are forgettable poop.......Yet its funny how many of Madonna's #2s have went on to become way more memorable then most of Mariah's #1s.

I think its safe to say the song will def. go top 10 making Madonna have the most top 10s of any artist in America. Its a bad time to be an Elvis fan, Watching his records be broken by Madonna and maybe Mariah. Ouch. More so ouch for Mariah.

Its just a guess, but its probably alot more than this, which is to be expected.
