  1. of all TIC versions to use, why Like A Prayer? Vogue's a good idea because I think it actually enhances the song, but the TIC version of LAP is not the version people love. I enjoy the version but on a definitive hits package, the original is the only one that matters.

    completely agree

  2. "If people think I'm the new Madonna that's fine by me - but I think I'll eventually eclipse her level of fame and success."

    Geri Halliwell

"I'd like to record a duet with Madonna but I want to wait a couple of years, so that I'm on the same level as her, as a solo artist."

    Melanie C

"You know what - I think I'm more talented than Madonna."

    Pink

In the 80s, Whitney was always bleating on about Madonna being a gonna and how she'd have more longevity :lmao:

    wannabes :demonic:

  3. I like "Miles Away," but the only thing that annoys me a bit is the choppy guitar. If it was a smoother rhythm I think I would enjoy it more. I love the Enya-esque breakdown "too much of no sound..."

I like the choppy guitar :sneaky:

Although I love MA, I still don't understand why it was chosen over GI2M...

  4. Though, I am not sure if Celine would be able to pull off a successful world tour as Madonna has.

Actually, if I'm not mistaking, Celine's tour was the second most successful tour for a solo artist (after Madonna). Which IMO is not bad at all.

  5. Even today it is not cool to like Madonna. I just finished high school and I can tell you I was the only one in my class that liked Madonna. The irony is that we were 6 boys (me included) and 24 girls (none of them liked her music  they were listening to indie-rock, rock, D'n'B, stuff like that :electropop: ); they would say that she's gross ('ewww, she's singing my sugar is raw at the age of 50?' ),disgusting, has-been, grandma, you name it! And the thing is she isn't at least respected, they think of her as of a joke! :americanlife:

And what saddens me the most is that the majority of people over 20, 30, 40 have the same attitude (she's an old whore who wants attention, she can't sing, she's not a serious artist). I don't know anybody who is a Madonna fan!

  6. I was downplaying it some... I actually think the song is great. It's just as fun as her older hits like "Holiday", "Into The Groove", etc., yet has the touch of what is heard today on radio. My point was that there are so many other mediocre hits that get played and I think this songs even better.

    I agree with you!

  7. Madonna is asked about Mariah in this interview and actually says something positive about her:

uh, that candy shop looks delicious!!:drool:

did she say she liked her record or her? I didn't hear the actual words...

does anyone know where I can find the FULL interview??

  8. "The history of women in popular music can, pretty much, be divided into before and after Madonna." Susan Sarandon

"Working with Madonna is something to tell to your grandsons."

    Daddy G, Massive Attack's vocalist.

"Just the fact that she made it look good to control your own life when that was something that was not supposed to be very sexy for a woman. She's one of the few women who has remained true to herself and been a character."

    Bjork

"She worked out her moves in the mirror the night before we’d shoot. She would work so hard. She was not someone who went out clubbing every night. She was the one who said, ‘I want to be there at 5.30 in the morning so I have enough time to get the hair and make-up right.’ So before the crew had even arrived, she would be there. By the time she arrived at the set she was smiling and she did her job. And she did her job brilliantly."

    Alan Parker

"Madonna's probably the most disciplined person around and so I can only pale in comparison. It's just too impressive."

    Sarah Jessica Parker

"She's John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the same time". Jean-Baptiste Mondino

"It was terrifying, it was like kissing the Eiffel Tower in terms of how famous she is."

Mike Myers on Madonna being his best ever on-screen kiss.

"I just want to say how much I enjoyed Madonna's performance. She is an absolute professional and she makes us all look like amateurs."

    Robbie Williams

"She's the only person I've ever approached - she had such an impact on my life as a kid. She lost her mother too and came on MTV when I was 13 saying it was OK to be sad. Our family had handled my mother's death in a traditional, never-speak-of-her-again kind of way. It was only when I heard Madonna that I thought, 'That's it. I've never really grieved for my mother.' She gave me permission to do that and I wanted her to know how much it had helped me. She's just fantastic."

Ellen Pompeo on how Madonna helped her cope with the loss of

    her mother.

"The French like burgers, Madonna and Miami Vice."

    French president, Nicolas Sarkozy

I like the last one in particular. :chuckle:
