  1. Got to hand it to Connie. At age 70 and into her 6 th decade in ahow biz, she still sells out venues and puts out new CDs.

Another wild and wooly volume in its Rocks series, this Connie Francis set is packed to the gills with hits, B-sides and obscurities with 33 cuts in all! From her stellar reading of Conway Twitty's "It's Only Make Believe," the sultry "Fallin'," an alternate version of the country-rockabilly tune "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own," and the horn-driven "Plenty Good Lovin'." As is usual for Bear Family, the sound is great, there are terrific liner notes, and what's best of all, it's all on a single disc. Connie Rocks offers a view of early rock & roll from one of its most seminal, if not always acknowledged, female vocalists and performers. Just snag it. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide

    Details:

Rockin Connie spotlights the up-tempo side of the artist whose incredible 56 entries on Billboard magazines Hot 100 mark her as the biggest-selling female of her day. Perhaps best known for her sentimental ballads, Connie recorded in a variety of styles, and for every Among My Souvenirs in her vast catalogue there exists a terrific rocker like Gonna Git That Man, Kiss n Twist or Im Gonna Be Warm This Winter. Connie had been singing songs such as Im Walkin in her stage act since 1957 and with her boyfriend Bobby Darin she frequently visited the Apollo Theater in Harlem to see James Brown, Ray Charles and LaVern Baker, whose performances ensured that she was well schooled in the art of R&B.

Tunes like Hollywood, Johnny Darlin and Robot Man show that she had an intuitive feel for rocknroll. Drawn from the period 1957 to 1966, our compilation includes cult favourites Fallin, Eighteen and Valentino, obscure gems Love Eyes, Lollipop Lips and Its A Different World and two songs co-written by the recently departed Ellie Greenwich.

Compilation and sleevenotes by Mick Patrick.

  3. Billboard.com:

STILL IN VOGUE: Madonna and Whitney Houston arrive on the Billboard Hot 100, upping their already impressive counts for career chart appearances.

With "Celebration," new at No. 71, her 55th entry, Madonna moves within one of Dionne Warwick for second-most Hot 100 hits among women.

At No. 74, "I Look to You" marks Houston's first Hot 100 hit since 2003 and her 38th overall. The bow lifts her past Mary J. Blige into a solo share for 10th-most charted titles among women in the Hot 100's history.

Here is an update look at the women who've made the most Hot 100 visits:

    73, Aretha Franklin

    56, Dionne Warwick

    55, Madonna

    53, Connie Francis

    48, Brenda Lee

    41, Barbra Streisand

    40, Mariah Carey

    40, Diana Ross

    39, Janet Jackson

    38, Whitney Houston

    37, Mary J. Blige

Among all artists, Madonna ties the Beach Boys for a share of 13th place for most Hot 100 entries. Elvis Presley is the overall leader with 108 Hot 100 appearances.

But this list does not represent true chart success as it involves only the 50 years and not when the charts began from 1956. The only person affected by this on the list would be Connie Francis who had 3 chart hits before the 50 year aaniversary and after 1956, and so when these 3 hits are included she would be tied for 2nd place as in the original list posted in this thread. The above list is misleading for her.
