  1. Sorry but anyone saying it was only “a few notes” or “a small part” of LAP that was out of tune is either tone deaf or delusional. There were more off-key notes than there were on-key...but that’s beside the point and we don’t need to downplay the reality of what happened. The performance still delivered in many, many other ways and should be applauded for that. Onwards and upwards...

  2. Can people just agree to disagree on this performance and move on to celebrate the positive with everything she’s giving us right now?! Maybe it was or wasn’t the right mood for the occasion but it’s madonna and she can do what she wants. It was still a great performance if it wasn’t for the fact that she was never quite able to find the right pitch in like a prayer and hang onto it for very long. Again, that clearly indicates it’s more a technical issue like she was singing into a vacuum and couldn’t hear herself which would make it impossible for anyone to stay on tune! It’s too bad it happened but life goes on and we all know what a beautiful singer she is. I think a lot of our disappointment stems from the fact that we just really wanted everyone else to see that last night and sadly they didn’t.

  3. Ok, I feel like people are maybe being overly grim with the perceived “lack of energy” in her performance. I don’t think it was THAT out of line given the overall tone and mood it was meant to portray. And maybe it’s wishful thinking  but I do wonder if there was some issue with her earpiece because the vocals for like a prayer were soooo far off in all the most horribly random ways compared to so many of her previous performances that it sounded like someone who was trying to sing and wasn’t able to properly hear themself in order to hit the notes properly. I muted the audio for Future because I’m not listening to it until June 14th but based on everything I’ve read about it I’m not sure how the aesthetics of the performance meshed with the sound and vibe of the song itself although performance-wise it looked like things picked up ...overall, definitely not the ideal outcome given the size of the opportunity but life will go on.

Yeah. I'm getting Rebel Heart Part 2 vibes so far and I hope I'm wrong about that. As much as I liked Rebel Heart, I didn't expect her to repeat herself again.

I honestly think that’s because we’re getting more exposure to the starrah/mike dean side of things vs the mirwais so it feels a little out of balance with the expectations that were set for the album.  And that’s the double-edged sword of pre-releasing album tracks out of the context of the broader album. It can throw people off unnecessarily. IMO just releasing Medellín and Crave in advance of June 14th would’ve been better, which is why I’m not listening to anything else. I’ll hear the rest for the first time as part of the album.

  5. I wasn’t going to listen to anything but Medellín (and Soltera) before the album came out but since I had a super shitty week personally and professionally and this is an actual single release I caved and allowed myself to listen. I literally started weeping while trying to get ready for work when I heard it.  Beautiful song.

  6. We are being blessed with an embarrassment of riches this era! Now this I will listen to while I wait for June 14th and will make it easier to save the other pre-release songs from madame x until then. Will we get more featurings in the fall when mirwais releases his new album too? 🙏

The insider was wrong about the release, but maybe they thought to put out  Medellin to get more attention.

Or maybe this “journalist” is doing what people have been doing here for the past year and a half: piecing together various rumours, speculation and half-truths to create something that amounts to #fakenews and then reporting on it like it’s fact.

I agree. It completely ruins the experience. Before Dido released her album “Still On My Mind”, she released a random song each week. Of course I jumped unto those songs, listening the crap out of them. But when the album released in full, I was confused about the vibe. Some songs were completely new, while others were not. It was weird trying to accept the album as “new”, when it half already felt old. It also messed with the order of the songs my brain got used to. It’s hard to explain but bottom line, I’m never doing that again. I’ll wait till the album is released in full before listening to any more songs. The only one more song I will listen to is the one M will perform at Eurovision.

Good strategy, I think I’ll go with this too. Unless she performs it live or there’s a music video that’s out there being promoted I’m not going to listen to anything more until June 14th

His last album debuted with 99k in its first week. And has sold 215k total. Rebel Heart did more first week and has sold more total. If she does tour bundles she should be ok.

Exactly. Did Madonna release a new album the same day that any of his previous four albums were released and hit number 1? Nope. Next...
