Clear headed first listen, then edible and glass of fill in the blank after that!
Yes that’s the exact plan I was leaning towards. The things we go through in our minds when Madonna releases a new album...

I can’t decide if I should do an edible before listening to it for the first time or hear it completely clear headed first

Nobody here has listened to Faz Gostoso and are we already arguing about it?
We’ve been arguing about it for well over a year now

Proving once again how irrelevant the concept of a “single” seems to be in the year 2019...

I love that a Madonna fan page thinks the album title is Confessions on THE Dance Floor. Huge pet peeve of mine. If you can’t get details like this right, what else is incorrect?
Right up there with people calling it Devil Wouldn’t Even Recognize You!

Why are people saying it's a missed opportunity? That she should have done a fun song? She had one intention. Her message.
It wasn't the right time for it but it was the right place. If it wasn't in Israel I doubt she would have done it. She had a point to prove on the latest leg of this "revolution of love" the singing was a let down. But she was told to not he political and she was. As is her right, bit to claim she misunderstood Eurovision is wrong.
I almost think it was a FUCK you to the billionaire that paid her
Almost like "sure I'll come to Israel on your jet, use your money to fund the show, I'll sing the most morbid version of LAP ever, a song that's not even a single with a rapper no one knows and call you out for trying to whitewash israel" - classic M.
I think people feel it’s a missed opportunity because this was one of the biggest performances of Madonna’s entire career in terms of the size of the audience impact and, instead of showcasing her iconic career or brilliant new album to the full extent of what could’ve been, she butchered the vocals on one of her biggest classics songs and then followed it up with Future featuring a stoned and lifeless Quavo, resulting in widespread negative reaction instead of widespread praise. Not saying I agree with all that but just a hunch...

This guy definitely sounds like a douche who’s judging Madonna more than the album but ... the descriptions he does give have me a tiny worried that it might be more “kooky” weird than sophisticated experimental weird

Are we talking about here "Madame X listening party" or am I missing something ?
No instead of talking about the imminent arrival of madame x, an actual real album filled with new Madonna music, we’ve decided to argue about an imaginary greatest hits compilation that doesn’t even exist.

Okay — sorry — I am just getting the tone from multiple posts (wasn’t necessarily meaning to zero in on yours). As I’m looking back, I see people are more just criticizing everything about her costume/style in general since the album title announcement ... so I was off-base. I apologize.
I love the met look and I love the madame x looks. I was happy to see it come back and she definitely did grow it further. I just personally felt like layering the madame x look on top of it felt messy and a bit too try-hard with the album promo since the two looks had never been presented together originally.

She wore different color leotards for most of the Confessions promo performances of Hung Up ... but they varied from performance to performance. There were some definite style changes from Met Gala to Eurovision in terms of the costumes. (Not just talking about the addition of an eyepatch, either...) Yes, there is definitely a connection, you can see how it grew from the Met Gala look, but ... I don’t see that she recycled something, if that is the insinuation here.
Nope it’s not the insinuation at all.

Wait...I thought we were praising the Madame X looks just a few weeks ago? I can't keep up anymore...
I'm glad M is still visual and theatrical in her looks. I don't find any of it gimmicky at all, as (for the most part), each look and all the pieces that make it up are usually tied to a theme/story/persona. So you just really don't like it..fair enough, but to write it off as "gimmicky" now (but somehow not in the past) I'm just not buying. Nope.
You want to talk about gimmicky...firework tits from Katy and Gaga, that's actually gimmicky.
I love the madame x looks but combining it with the previously done met gala look just came of as a bit messy and contrived to me, sorry. Probably because we’d seen a version of it before and have that to compare it to so it felt a bit forced. No big whoop either way...
-
Well. There’s a fine line between a concept and a gimmick. And i think this is one occasion where the eye patch and the “x” all over the place could’ve been given a rest to let the met gala aesthetic shine. Too much going on there...There are ways to remind people that you have a new album coming out without beating them over the head about it.

The whole raison d’être of this magazine has always been about hot men on the cover...

God bless the people who think a possible “promo” performance at NYC pride for several thousand circuit queens, mostly high off their faces, is akin to being given a stage in front of two hundred million people across multiple continents

Quavo and mike dean are absolute gutter trash and are too busy getting high to have ever been trusted or blessed with the opportunity to be a part of such an important event and statement from the queen.

A representative for Madonna provided EW with a photo of the performance (above) with a note that “a message of peace is not political.”

Sorry but anyone saying it was only “a few notes” or “a small part” of LAP that was out of tune is either tone deaf or delusional. There were more off-key notes than there were on-key...but that’s beside the point and we don’t need to downplay the reality of what happened. The performance still delivered in many, many other ways and should be applauded for that. Onwards and upwards...

The Met Gala performance of LAP was NOT perfect. Her vocals were also pitchy in places.
Ok whatever, it was CLEARLY a zillion times better than what happened last night.

Can people just agree to disagree on this performance and move on to celebrate the positive with everything she’s giving us right now?! Maybe it was or wasn’t the right mood for the occasion but it’s madonna and she can do what she wants. It was still a great performance if it wasn’t for the fact that she was never quite able to find the right pitch in like a prayer and hang onto it for very long. Again, that clearly indicates it’s more a technical issue like she was singing into a vacuum and couldn’t hear herself which would make it impossible for anyone to stay on tune! It’s too bad it happened but life goes on and we all know what a beautiful singer she is. I think a lot of our disappointment stems from the fact that we just really wanted everyone else to see that last night and sadly they didn’t.
-
Ok, I feel like people are maybe being overly grim with the perceived “lack of energy” in her performance. I don’t think it was THAT out of line given the overall tone and mood it was meant to portray. And maybe it’s wishful thinking but I do wonder if there was some issue with her earpiece because the vocals for like a prayer were soooo far off in all the most horribly random ways compared to so many of her previous performances that it sounded like someone who was trying to sing and wasn’t able to properly hear themself in order to hit the notes properly. I muted the audio for Future because I’m not listening to it until June 14th but based on everything I’ve read about it I’m not sure how the aesthetics of the performance meshed with the sound and vibe of the song itself although performance-wise it looked like things picked up ...overall, definitely not the ideal outcome given the size of the opportunity but life will go on.

Good job! I was really hoping to do the same but inevitably caved and listened to Crave (because I told myself it was an “official single” like Medellin) and Future (because I was having a really bad fucking day).
