Waiting until Friday. It's my Dad's birthday so I am having lunch with him, then heading up to an island off the coast where I will hit play on Medellin as my toes touch the sand and the sun sinks towards the horizon. Looking forward to the journey Madame X takes me on as I wander along the shore.

Now will you be high as well?! Cause that sounds damn near perfect.

I still haven't listened to anything other than Medellin, cannot believe I am 6 days away from hearing 17 new Madonna songs after 4 years + of waiting...

Good job! I was really hoping to do the same but inevitably caved and listened to Crave (because I told myself it was an “official single” like Medellin) and Future (because I was having a really bad fucking day).

Why are people saying it's a missed opportunity? That she should have done a fun song? She had one intention. Her message.

It wasn't the right time for it but it was the right place. If it wasn't in Israel I doubt she would have done it. She had a point to prove on the latest leg of this "revolution of love" the singing was a let down. But she was told to not he political and she was. As is her right, bit to claim she misunderstood Eurovision is wrong.

I almost think it was a FUCK you to the billionaire that paid her

Almost like "sure I'll come to Israel on your jet, use your money to fund the show, I'll sing the most morbid version of LAP ever, a song that's not even a single with a rapper no one knows and call you out for trying to whitewash israel" - classic M.

I think people feel it’s a missed opportunity because this was one of the  biggest performances of Madonna’s entire career in terms of the size of the audience impact and, instead of showcasing her iconic career or brilliant new album to the full extent of what could’ve been, she butchered the vocals on one of her biggest classics songs and then followed it up with Future featuring a stoned and lifeless Quavo, resulting in widespread negative reaction instead of widespread praise. Not saying I agree with all that but just a hunch...

Okay — sorry — I am just getting the tone from multiple posts (wasn’t necessarily meaning to zero in on yours). As I’m looking back, I see people are more just criticizing everything about her costume/style in general since the album title announcement ... so I was off-base. I apologize.

I love the met look and I love the madame x looks. I was happy to see it come back and she definitely did grow it further. I just personally felt like layering the madame x look on top of it felt messy and a bit too try-hard with the album promo since the two looks had never been presented together originally.

She wore different color leotards for most of the Confessions promo performances of Hung Up ... but they varied from performance to performance. There were some definite style changes from Met Gala to Eurovision in terms of the costumes. (Not just talking about the addition of an eyepatch, either...) Yes, there is definitely a connection, you can see how it grew from the Met Gala look, but ... I don’t see that she recycled something, if that is the insinuation here.

Nope it’s not the insinuation at all.

Wait...I thought we were praising the Madame X looks just a few weeks ago?  I can't keep up anymore...

I'm glad M is still visual and theatrical in her looks. I don't find any of it gimmicky at all, as (for the most part), each look and all the pieces that make it up are usually tied to a theme/story/persona.  So you just really don't like it..fair enough, but to write it off as "gimmicky" now (but somehow not in the past) I'm just not buying. Nope.

You want to talk about gimmicky...firework tits from Katy and Gaga, that's actually gimmicky.  :newspaper:

I love the madame x looks but  combining it with the previously done met gala look just came of as a bit messy and contrived to me, sorry. Probably because we’d seen a version of it before and have that to compare it to so it felt a bit forced. No big whoop either way...

  7. Well. There’s a fine line between a concept and a gimmick. And i think this is one occasion where the eye patch and the “x” all over the place could’ve been given a rest to let the met gala aesthetic shine. Too much going on there...There are ways to remind people that you have a new album coming out without beating them over the head about it.
