  1. I absolutely love the fact that for the first time since 1994, Madonna's new music has been premiered via official channels, rather than as a result of having been leaked.  Every single project from Evita onwards has had something leak before Madonna has been ready to premiere anything.  This time, we've had our first snippet of the new music from the lady herself and it's exciting!  Kudos to everyone involved in maintaining the security of this project.

I adore her grills but this time I'm happy she left them out, fans that hate them are just sheeple.

I hate the grills, but what I think doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things!  Madonna can do what she likes (and she does)

The appearance was great and she sounded great - a fantastic start to 2019 :tigger:

  3. Quavo revealed how Champagne Rosé, the collaboration with Madonna and Cardi B, happened.

During a radio interview on The Cruz Show at Power 106, Quavo confessed that it was not a planned collaboration, but something that popped into his head after “Madonna had sent me this voiceover.”

“She was just snapping and singing,” added Quavo. “She was probably singing in the bathroom.”

“I called Murda,” said Quavo. “I told him we got to do something to this voiceover asap.”

Therefore, Murda “came in, I did the drums, he did the flute,” Quavo added.

“I was happy with it, but I still wanted a bigger moment,” confessed Quavo. “I was like, let’s create this whole new Motorsport wave again, so I grabbed Cardi B and was like… Madonna, Cardi… she loves CardiCardi loves Madonna. It only made sense to do it.”

  4. Madonna is listed as one of the songwriters on Wikipedia (which, unlike Spotify etc., also lists Cardi B - clearly, the Spotify etc. credits aren't full credits and probably only cover the backing track and Quavo's parts, not Madonna and Cardi B's).

I, like many, thought that 2018 was now going to become one of the very few years in which Madonna hasn't released anything musical.  Very glad to be proven wrong!  As for the song itself, Madonna's hook is a massive ear worm...!  How does she continue to do it over 35 years into her career??!!  Is Quavo big enough in the US to score multiple Top 10s on the week of release due to massive streams?  The Drake, Travis Scott and Madonna/Cardi B collaborations seem to be the most popular.  It would be a very nice surprise to see a track featuring Madonna in the Top 10 in 2018.  It's much better than a lot of the stuff that has been in the Top 10 this year...

Well, in french, when we use "I'm finishing", it means we are at the end of something or almost there.
Just like Nonoka said, I guess some of us got lost in translation.

It's actually the same in English.  "Working on" is the term that most people would use if they weren't close to completing something (e.g. if you'd completed 10% of something, you'd say that you were "working on" it, rather than "finishing" it.  I don't think this is a case of something being "lost in translation" (unless Australian English is completely different to American English 😊).

    i cant remember her first  break, she released in some form of output non stop: ‘82, ‘83, ‘84, ‘85, ‘86, ‘87, ‘88, ‘89, ‘90, ‘91, ‘92, ‘93, ‘94, ‘95, ‘96, ‘97, ‘98, ‘99, ‘00, ‘01, ‘02, ‘03, ‘04, ‘05, ‘06, ‘07, ‘08, ‘09.....maybe in 2010 was the first year without anything

I think you'll find that 2016 is the only year in which Madonna hasn't released either new music or a tour video.  However, she spent the first three months of the year touring, so it's not as though she didn't do anything to stay in the public eye that year.  While nothing was released for sale in 2011, "Masterpiece" officially premiered in December 2011 with the release of W./E, so new music was out there for consumption.

In simple terms, she's either released new music, a new video or toured every single year since 1982.  If she doesn't release anything in the next 3.5 months, 2018 will be the first year in which she has released nothing new at all (you mentioned 2010 but "Sticky & Sweet" was released that year).

    Can someone translate this?

    Yes - Google Translate 🙂

Here are the different rumors that persist about #Madonna's new album: * The title of the album would be #magic, a hashtag very often used by Madonna in her photos). * Beautiful Game should be the lead single of the album
    * The new album would be produced by MIRWAIS
    * The video of Beautiful Game has already been directed by Steven Klein
    * The title Beautiful Game would not look like the excerpt from "Met Gala" and would have a more dance sound
    * The album would not contain more than 12 tracks
    * Steven Klein would also be in charge of the visual of the album
    * Madonna would have recorded a title with Nicki Minaj, but the song produced by Starrah should appear on the album "Queen" of Nicki Minaj.
    * Madonna's new album would give up urban sounds for a return to dance / electro.
    * Madonna could appear as a white entity, in the form of an angel or celestial bride
    * The release of the first single was planned after the Met Gala, but it had to be postponed, we evoke the beginning of June
    * A tour would be scheduled early 2019

  8. I arrived in Seattle on December 12th (from Paris), switched on the TV that night and purely by chance, TNBT was on. Of course, I watched it (I hadn't seen it since some friends and I saw it at the cinema in 2000 - for the record, we all enjoyed it, which will be enough for some people to label us all idiots with no taste, I'm sure :p). It's entertaining. Definitely not a great movie, but it's decent enough.

Like many others here, I loved the soundtrack - it was packed with great songs (with AP and TSS being absolute standouts).

  9. Incidentally, for a thread designed to appreciate GHV2, there's a lot of negativity floating around....

Perhaps someone should create a trash GHV2 thread :). Then those of us who actually like it will be free to say as we please in here without having to defend ourselves :).

  10. It's exactly that attitude that allowed substandard releases like 'Celebration' to be foisted upon us. "They'll lap it up no matter what"

Hardly! I just don't understand how fans can describe Madonna's music as "awful". And before someone argues that "no one's describing the music itself as awful, it's the collection", someone earlier on described GHV2 as "awful", which implies that the music itself is bad. It's not.

I'm sorry my attitude offends you and has resulted in what you consider to be "substandard" releases. I happen to love "Celebration", too. Kill me now ;)

  11. I fail to understand why it is hard to understand that some fans expected a better release?!

Oh I understand alright...Madonna fans are incredibly difficult to please! However, who in their right mind would describe a collection of Madonna singles "awful"?!! Aren't we all supposed to be "fans"? Even a poorly planned collection of Madonna's music has to be better than "awful". It's still Madonna's music and ultimately, that's what matters most.

People will still whinge and bitch and moan, though :)

  12. People who don't like GHV2 are not saying the songs itself are awful.

No, but they are calling the collection "awful", and I fail to understand how a collection of Madonna songs (regardless of the order, track list, versions included etc. etc.) could be described as such.
