Mer Girl.

Ray of Light had so many layers and depth, and not just musically, there was a lot to that record, and whenever I listen to Ray of Light, there's always something new I discover. It was very unique.

No, not really. M's got a whole 30 years worth of great music, memories, etc behind her to be totally proud of, and if she never releases another thing or something that doesn't quite live up to all that she's done over the years, that doesn't matter, well not to me anyway.. she's proved what she's worth to the music industry, she doesn't need to prove another thing as far as I'm concerned. All the fuss right now is about people's expectations and that she's got to keep outdoing herself..well sometimes that's just not possible, sometimes it's just as simple as just enjoying the music, and that's all.

Some people wonder who the fuck Nicola Roberts is
What!? what!? what's this about Nicola Roberts? ..who's that!??

I'm not surprised that M is a little pissed off at the new single being leaked way ahead of its release date, she has every right to be. It ain't fair. They kind of spoilt it for those of us that wanted it to be a surprise, but hey, it's still in demo form, so it's unfinished and the production could change by the time it's released. I think I agree with Svperstar though, they probably need to go with something different for the first single.

Its just that everybody seems to be doing this electronic dance type of music now... its getting boring, somebody needs to liven it up a bit.
Totally agree. M just needs to take a look at what she did in the past and become this rebellious person she once was that made her want to stand out and be different from the rest.

I'm down with that.
If true, I think it sounds promising. I love it when she incorporates more world music elements into her songs - "Shanti", "Push" and "Isaac" were wonderful.
Yes, it does sound promising indeed, and I'd love the idea of the new music having a folk element and having this celebratory, more uplifting feel or spiritual element to it - or something to fit every mood maybe. I've been listening to a lot of Native American music lately, and I think it would be great if M did a few songs experimenting with some Native American sounds, it would totally be something new for her.

Yep. I'd like her to work with him again, at some point, though I'm thinking, what would he bring to the table as far as taking her music in a different direction is concerned? would she just be repeating herself? how would his songwriting and sound appeal to or attract new listeners, while keeping her older fans interested? anyway, she's done some fabulous stuff with him so it doesn't really matter? I'd welcome another Pat Leonard collab any day over another Pharrell one.

I don't know.. but I know I really liked the pics from Interview Magazine she did earlier this year.. That would rock. She looked fierce. Then again, I love the gypsy look, with lots of layers. Looks soft and very sexy.

Yeah, and they totally ripped off Van Halen as well. I understand it was a hommage.

None of her albums have been bad yet, but Hard Candy was too below her standards though, and that whole era was just a turn off looking at promotion and single choices.
I'd agree with you on that. I mean, there are some good songs on Hard Candy but I guess I just didn't get into that particular direction musically.

Whoa, the knives are out, ...all press is good press, though.

The boots are Rock N Roll!

Frozen, Justify My Love and Like a Prayer.
Justify My Love - I love it for the whole fantasy element and exploring of different sexual fantasies and scenarios, and I like Erotica as well.
Justify My Love and Like a Prayer are probably her two most powerful and evocative videos though.

Well, they might just want to take a look at the photos for "Interview" magazine from this year.. and perhaps it might change their minds.

I don't care much for the media/public's opinion/perception of Madonna any more, to be honest. As you know, they can be quite fickle, and have been over the years, coming in to favor and then falling back out of favor, it's kind of a pattern. And I guess it goes for every celebrity, really. I just care for and concentrate on the music. People are still writing about her and passing comment on what she does, and that can only be a good sign.

Like a Virgin was STRANGE
That is the whole allure of The Girlie Show in some way.

She looks gorgeous.

'Live To Tell' and 'La Isla Bonita'.

What? So I guess you know Madonna..AND Stuart!
He's not right about WHAT?
It's just an opinion.
Achieving success in a certain territory with a record may be on her agenda when she goes into the studio, but it's not the be all and end all. Anyway, with the amount of success that she has already achieved in the US why should it mean all that much to her now? she could tour there and all/most of her shows would sell out in an instant.

^This track is kinda inferior to some of her other singles, though, and, it does have that Ace-of-Base sound to it. :0 So, not sure if it really builds on past releases.
Actually, I'm liking it better than Poker Face.

Most favorite - Drowned World, The Girlie Show, Blond Ambition and Confessions.
The atmosphere was electric at Confessions.. it was such a feel good show for me with feel good songs, and the energy was amazing coming from the crowd. I loved the big build up to the opening of the show too. Awesome! It was up and fun one moment, introspective the next and then it was edgy.. I liked that aspect to it.
In S&S perhaps it was the music or some of the arrangement for some of the songs that didn't grab me, but vocally and musically there were some amazing moments as well.

Cyndi + The Goonies = Classic 80s.
Yeah, I agree.. It was quite a favorite at the time when the movie was released, brings back a lot of memories for me. Time after Time is the only other Cyndi song I liked.
Your top 10 favorite songs from the 90s!
