With celebration, i think it may just do to the fact that radio thinks the listeners may not like Madonna. Ageist, yes, but ALOT stations did spin the song. I think if alot more people knew it, it would do better.

Well, then again. The tracklist was also chosen by fans, AND Madonna. I guess Madonna liked the fans ideas of Hollywood, Get Together, and Nobody Knows Me being included.

Isnt the physical single release coming out in September, i hope the digital release isnt around the same time...
If the video is coming to us in 3 weeks, then i can see the digital single coming to us in a week or 2.

I've come to think that there's a specific plan for this single. Maybe someone's theory about a teaser release could be true after all...
1) It has been said that Madonna herself gave the permission to leak the song onto the net nearly a week ago = for a business woman of her caliber, it would be such a stupid move to reveal a new product that is supposed to make her cash in; maybe it wasn't supposed to be released this way and Warner only decided to make Celebration (album version) available for download after seeing fans starving for new material (remember, their goal is always to make money from everything they handle).
2) Now that we know more details about the video premiere, it's clear that the mix used for the filming is a full remix, since the video is gonna be 5 minutes long...
My conclusion is: the REAL single we're waiting for is the one used for the clip, the one that hasn't been sent yet to radios, the one that's not available yet on Itunes, Amazon, etc. I'm speaking of the FULL BENNY BENASSI REMIX, of course! The album version to create the hype and the remix to sell the single: what do you think?

As someone else said, the negative controversy the video generated probably helped get the song more attention than it would have gotten otherwise. “American Life” was just too abstract and weird for radio. Stations weren’t going to play it in-between “In the Club” and “Crazy In Love.” Upon first listen, it was painfully evident to me that nothing on American Life was going to be well received by the mainstream. Not even fluffier fare like “Hollywood” or the quasi-listener-friendly “Nothing Fails.” It was her ‘the goth kids’ album.
I don't think so. Why would it get attention by a video no one saw? American Life got played because it was a Madonna song. But then people finally heard the song, and it just disappeared.

American Life was not Madonna's greatest song, its not top quality. I will say it, it was crappy.
