  1. How about one for the BEST performance on the tour?:wow:

:thumbsup::thumbsup: H-O-L-Y!!!! This sounds DYNAMITE! I always felt this song should be a "showcase" song for her because it truly is a classic song, especially with the background vocals and just the whole time in her career, it really is somewhat of a "centerpiece" and should be performed as such.

From the looks of this clip it appears she has given this the performance it truly deserves!

  2. And can I just say this is probably her best setlist.. like.. EVER.. purely because it was just so well balanced between the Hard Candy songs and the older ones that no one could walk out and say she didn't play enough hits or she played too much of the new album (even though she did 9.5/12 of it) - but I also thank her musical director because he really managed to unveil just how timeless her earlier material is and it all flowed so smoothly.

 SUEDY, that was awesome, thanks for the painstakinly, descriptive details...that show sounds friggin' amazing. I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER!!!

  3. I gotta be honest, I'm really sick of Ray Of Light at this point. Madonna has an incredible body of work to choose from that most of her fans would kill to hear live again, even the rarity done live would be welcome [like "You Thrill Me"], Ray Of Light is played and her on those friggin' guitars is even MORE played!

M just needs to sing and dance her a*% off, I'd prefer some early career ballads too, MINUS that friggin' guitar again!

  4. Listen, honestly speaking, people are either going to take a liking to her songs or not. Word of mouth, combined with airplay, combined with "artist excitement" = success. Take Rihanna and UMBRELLA for example. Look what happened with that song. Not the BEST song in the world, but, a good hook, a lot of excitement surrounding her and then followed by a semi-cool ok-video and then a boat-load of re-makes. Either the lightning strikes or it doesn't, no special magic formula really.
  5. A stadium gig pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase. We need 2 go back 2 more of a live feel.

Confessions is visually stunning but it's not very live, it feels like a video shot in

    a studio..

Alec did it best..the perfect balance between great cinematography & capturing the moment, live.

    MADGIC :wow:

 Agreed. She also needs to use a FULL LIVE BAND again. It's been forever since she's done that, nothing quite matches the sound of all live instruments (with a few synths thrown in for good-measure). The over-blown effects have gone too far and she has completely gotten away from the whole live experience. Maybe this new venture will change all of that. I for one certainly don't need everything to sound just like the record, that's boring to me.

I like it when she sings fully live, and has a bunch of background vocalists, I really enjoy that sound, it's more organic and really makes you feel the music.

    Madonna In Stadiums

Posted Sun May 11 8:34am PDT by Bob Lefsetz in The Lefsetz Letter

It is important to study history, so one does not repeat the same mistakes. Don't Guy Oseary, Arthur Fogel and Madge herself remember U2's PopMart tour? The biggest, baddest band in the world, one beloved by Gen-X'ers everywhere (the true Gen-X, in its forties now, the one from Douglas Coupland's novel), books stadiums and...DOESN'T SELL OUT!

Maybe the record was rushed to completion. Or maybe the fan base was aging and didn't want to sit that far away.

Stadium shows are for youngsters, and YOUNGSTERS DON'T WANT TO SEE MADONNA! Especially not at these prices.

Why take this risk? Either she plays to empty seats or you've got to give tickets away. In this Internet era, do you think everyone's not going to KNOW?

They call it ARENA ROCK. Not Arena POP, or Arena DANCE! Blow it up even bigger, and IT'S GOT TO BE ROCK! It's got to be big and ballsy, anthemic. Madonna might have brass balls, but her music DOES NOT! Rock has historically been the guarantee in arenas. It's the ONLY guarantee in stadia. Why go against this? Why try to reinvent the wheel? Why take the risk?

To prove that Madonna is the biggest, baddest act on the planet.

Well, that's certainly questionable, but that's what she needs. For her ego.

Even the Eagles don't play stadiums. And they own the biggest selling album of ALL TIME! Their audience doesn't want to go. And sit that far away. Do you really think fortysomething women, driving minivans, still carpooling their kids, want to get all dressed up to sit in the upper deck and eat hot dogs? Watching a miniature Madonna down below?

No way. At least not until she admits she's a has-been.

Oh, the album may be running up the chart, but people don't want to hear Hard Candy live. Just like they didn't want to hear Page Plant's new material when those two toured. They eventually eviscerated almost all of it from their set and focused on Zeppelin tunes. The steady stream of people to the bathrooms and concessions made them feel less like superstars and more like...wannabes?

Madonna refuses to believe her time has passed, that she's a has-been. Everybody inside knows she won't go out with a greatest hits show. But that's what you need to sell stadiums, that's what you need to get oldsters to leave home and spend a fortune.

Maybe once. Maybe they'll come to the train-wreck once. But they'll stay home after that. And there's no talk of this being Madonna's RETIREMENT tour.

Who's advising her? Madonna's such an egomaniac, she won't hire a real manager, someone familiar with the game of choosing the right building, of scaling, of ticket counts. She thinks it's all about TV and radio, that they drive people into a frenzy where they HAVE to go to the show. Uh-uh. That was the eighties, the nineties, but not today's music world. Money is made on the road. And the show's got to be about the audience, not the performer. At least if you want people to come back at these inflated prices. You've got to DELIVER!

Maybe she'll change the set list to drive ticket sales.

But you know the show can't be good... SHE CAN BARELY SING!

She makes a deal with Live Nation and the stock she gets immediately tanks by half. She decides to play venues way too large for her. She needs the aforementioned Irving Azoff. But she won't listen to him. Because Madonna knows EVERYTHING!

No one knows everything. Not even me. But I've got a feeling, this tour is a mistake.

  7. Madonna is ALL OVER the new Soundscan digital singles chart released today! Check out the amazing numbers!

4 MINUTES comes in at # 3, selling an additional 150,000 downloads this week

GIVE IT 2 ME comes in at # 21, selling around 37,000 downloads

CANDY SHOP & BEAT GOES ON also were on the Top 200 Downloads chart ....

    * NOTE * The impressive sales for GIVE IT 2 ME will help it debut on tonight's BILLBOARD HOT 100, BUT it will likely drop off until the actual single/radio release in late June .... But GIVE IT 2 ME WILL debut on tonight's HOT 100, which is GREAT news!!

    -jpasc24

 So cool, Give It 2 Me is one of her BEST songs in years, it's got ALL the right elements in it. I especially love the "buzzing-electro" sound in it after the chorus, my favorite part aside from her vocals.

  8. I heard this on the radio last week. Of course, they choose pics and all that are not flatterign at all. They should put a pic of her from TCT or sumthin (i.e. in that purple getup strutting down the catwalk during HU) and try passing her off as unsexy.

She can surely do a lot to make herself look better on a day-to-day basis, there's no need for looking like a slob...AND she needs some weight (I say this all the time).

  9. I think that the INSTRUMENTATION part is sooooooo cheesy!!!

Don't like it at all :gross:

That's one part I REALLY like---geez. Hopefully on the album version it will be longer and there will actually be an "instrumentation" break with cool sound effects, that would be nice.

  10. No problem. Use any Madonna pic of mine you like for whatever at anytime. I don't mind any fan using them for sigs or whatever. I never slap watermarks on my pics because I want fans to have them and use them however they please.

Cool, thanks and like I've said a millions times already...you take the BEST FRIGGIN' PICS 'cause you pay for the best seats in the house!

  11. God damn Slyguy, you and these AWESOME pics, I can't even stand it anymore, Christ you got so many good ones----that one where she's coming out of the disco ball is just STELLAR!!!!

    Thanks for sharing.

  12. I can POST, I CAN POST...thanks for the help all!

Well I saw M last night and all of you were sooooo right about this show, fu*$in' FANTASTIC! She is sooo friggin' a-w-e-s-o-m-e, the energy, the staging, the costumes, the DANCERS ROCKED, I think these have been her best EVER.

I don't want to write too much because so much has been said already I just want to say that if you can muster up the money and get the chance to go you HAVE TO GO and you WON'T BE SORRY. Speaking of "Sorry" the reaction from the crowd last night at MSG when that song came on was nothing short of THUNDEROUS! WOW, I really can't think of enough adjectives to describe the great-ness of this show...

    Without question, M RULES!!!

Slyguy, as always, thank for all the great photos and now the cool video also...you are the multi-media king!
