  1. WOW Mattress, that was like reading a Masters Thesis on Madonna's greatest hits and how they are compiled..after reading it (and before actually listening to it), I have to say on paper it does look a little underwhelming and lazy of WB and M. Why couldn't they put a little more work into maybe re-editing all the album versions to make room for additional songs during the "re-mastering..?" That's the only pet peeve I really have, that would have made this a real-keeper. Oh and yes, the IC versions--why..? Who the heck chose those, I like them but only when listening to AC all-together, it's a more consistent sound. Just my opinion...

  2. What annoys me about this whole thing is that anyone speaking about anyone is going to include themselves in the talk - it's how they related to the individual and how everyone else can relate to them as well - I'm sick of Joy and her nonsense, I'll call a spade a spade but Madonna's speech was NOT about her it was about Michael Jackson, get over it.

The only good thing Joy said was how gorgeous Madonna looked!

  3. Magical outing for Madge. This is the type of album that- if anyone ever wonders- separates her from her pop contemporaries, male or female. That NME review pretty much summed it up.

Madonna said every album should have one super sentimental song- and this album's is "Cherish." "Dear Jessie" isn't so much about sentiment, but a childhood fantasy- and that transition into "Oh Father"- has there ever been a better segue, sonically or thematically?

Right you are HG!!! Just incredible sounds/themes all-around...

  4. one of her best albums. it was all leading up to this. everyone was infatuated with madonna, then she became an international star during the who's that girl tour and by the time 89 rolled around, people wanted to be let inside. it was perfect.

Perfectly said Pud, as always---a True Blue fan you are!

  5. Everybody is ESSENTIAL. before all her ray of lighters came along everybody was a big hit in the early 80's even though it didnt chart. it was being played well throughout the 80's in clubs - latino, black, gay, straight. thats what her early fans know and that is the song that got the party started.

if anything, they should replace erotica with deeper and deeper. with justify my love on there, nobody needs the stupid justify my love wannabe, erotica.

and this is the final word on that.

    ABSOLUTELY!

  6. ive been over that shyt since 1998. who even listens to top 40 radio anymore?

 Exactly, since the introduction of digital music and all the satellite-radio stuff I don't know one-person that listens to the radio anymore---it's all about "digital-sales" now.

As for me, if it's not on my iPod I don't hear it.

  7. From 01.35: "As a special present, I want to give you the world exclusive of the brand new Madonna single"... Remix or not, whatever it is, it sounds FUCKING FANTASTIC.

Part two of this video is what's been posted on the first page of the Pacha thread a couple of days back. This is the missing intro

 YES!!! Whatever version this is, it's already my favorite.

  8. Double album, eh? Excellent move there.

And, of course M wouldn't release the track a la "Hey Now (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun)." She wrote "Celebrate" with Oakenfold, so different lyrics from "Holiday."

I hate to bring this up - but - let's not forget or should I say remember her re-working of (my all-time favorite) "Into The Groove" for GAP and then on the Remixed and Revisited CD and on the ReInvention Tour.

Totally looking forward to the doubl-cd Greatest Hits, I'm a little confused though, only 2-new tracks?

  9. well, thats the great thing about age. everyone thought she used to sound like shyt on live aid, wtg, blond ambition, etc. now that time has passed, its revered like a 5 year old finger fucker jackson. so after the live nation deal is over - just look forward to how much youll love the these latest vocals!!!!

:thumbsup:I couldn't agree more. The old "Minnie Mouse on helium" critique used to bug the shit out of me---now everyone thinks she sounded awesome back then, including myself - but - I've always liked that "voice" from the 80's, as well as the 90's up until now, she just sounds different but I love her new music obviously.

  10. I think it has more to do with age than anything else--she never had a STRONG voice and taking care of her voice was NOT her number one priority, all singing lessons aside, so as she's ageing her voice is getting thinner and has a lot less 'ummpf'. The lessons helped her with clarity, it did nothing to strengthen her voice, maybe it gave her a little more stamina for singing live, she could keep it from getting raspy by singing the right-way, but honestly that's about it.
  11. It was definitely more than a rumour, here's M talking about the collaboration (sorry if already posted!) :)

 Great interview---Madonna was way-to-progressive for MJ in her thinking and execution, he was NEVER going to go for it the way in which she would have, not sure his fans would have followed him on a Madonna-Makeover journey!
