Love this, this is the BEST!
-
best movie ever. i know everyone loves evita but trust in me when i say, 50 years from now when they go over madonna - DSS is the ONE that represents MADONNA, her bang, her wannabes, her sex, what separated her from her contemporaries, everything. its madonna.
I hate to say it, but, I agree totally...to me you are stating the obvious. Evita was GREAT, and I love everything about it, the music, her maturity, the acting, cinematography...but DSS was an integral part that helped catapault Madonna into SUPERSTARDOM - WHITE HOT SUPERSTARDOM!!!

oh, its her = its so emmy/american life-ish. MADONNA! fabulous.
AGREED - and yet it sounds very current, something that could be heard on the radio (if anyone listens anymore), almost like a Maroon 5 type song...
-
That's the GREAT thing about difference of opinion.

Just oh soooo scrumptious:

That's right - WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE THIS:
Or from her tour:

Regardless of who she is and what Madonna thinks of her, a lot of what was written in the article was on point. I especially loved the part about Gaga's facial expressions (or lack there of) in videos. I was trying to explain this to someone after "Alejandro" premiered but they didn't get what I was saying. This photo pretty much sums it up.
Honestly though, you can't all have a face like Madonna's, especially in her younger years---Camille, I have to say is on point, I actually agree with a lot, if not, most of what she's saying, I GET IT, I have felt the same way from the moment GaGa came on the scene, it's missing that "something", and it just doesn't resonate with me..on ANY level, needless to say asexually...anyway, interesting quote.

W = whatever....

This is like getting a new album.
You're not kidding!
-
holy shit, the era when i first obsessed over her!!!
who remember the music mixer?????????????????????????????????????????????/
HOLY CRAP - I totally remember this thinking it was such a cool "internet-thing", we've come such a long way since then...BTW, GREAT ALBUM, I also loved the media-blitz with this album.
-
Boy, you've really given this a lot of thought and thought this one through...
DEAD-WRONG on your number 1 statement though. 'I'm Breathless' barely made an impact so it's unlikely that it made her irrelevant to a younger audience, that comes naturally with age and the fickleness of the general buying public over time.
-
How RIDICULOUS, sounds NOTHING like her - not the vocals, forget about the instrumentation....
-
WOW, she's just beyond...this one's my favorite now.
-
SEXY MAMA! I can't get enough of these - good for her!!
-
HOT HOT HOT AS FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love it!
C'Mon M, make another great DANCE ALBUM, you can do it - hah!

One of her BEST TIMES EVER - no doubt a highlight in her creative peak!

I recently watched an interview with Lady GaGa on Fuse. I saw so many similarities between her & Madonna. However, a couple of things struck me about her. She kept going on about how her "art is about liberation". Lady GaGa was insistent about that to the interviewer. I can appreciate that. But when I first heard Madonna ( Everybody, Holiday, Into The Groove for example) I automatically got that message. Madonna's songs have consistently conveyed that message through out her career to this day. Express Yourself, Vogue, Ray of Light, Music & Confessions on a Dancefloor to name a few. Aside from maybe "Just Dance", I personally don't get that from her. Saying it is doesn't make it so. That doesn't mean I don't find Lady GaGa compelling, especially "Bad Romance".
Also, I loved how Lady GaGa admires a lot of the same people Madonna has gushed about for years. Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Dr. Martin Luther King & Ghandi. Yes, alot of us admire those legendary people obviously. But hearing her talk, it was like listening to a Madonna interview circa 1990.
The similarities are striking.
I TOTALLY agree with you on this. There's just something about Lady GaGa that just doesn't resonate with me, maybe I'm missing something but I just don't see the draw AND this has NOTHING to do with Madonna, I am talking about Lady GaGa's music alone, some songs are good, good beats, etc...but again, they don't grab me in the same way and speaking about her visual side, I don't find her visually interesting, but I haven't found anyone visually interesting as Madonna since Madonna first came on the scene.

She looks AMAZING - totally Italian, sexy and just plain beautiful - another home-run out of the park as far as I'm concerned.

LOVE the video and I LOVE the song! Bravo

SUSAN SARANDON:
THE HISTORY OF WOMEN IN POPULAR MUSIC CAN, PRETTY MUCH, BE DIVIDED INTO BEFORE AND AFTER MADONNA.
I LOVE THIS, how right she is...

Can we just have ONE thread in the Madonna section where Gaga fans and M fans can duke it out? I swear every day there is a new "OMG Gaga has copied Madonna" thread. No offense, agclef.
Non taken Nightshade, I just brought this up because this is one of the first articles I saw actually discussing it directly.

Is it possible to be a female pop star and not rip off Madonna?
-
Jesus, talk about trying to knock-her-down, aren't they tired of it by now, it's been going on since '83, I'M TIRED OF IT! But really, who friggin' cares.
