  1. Well, with all respect, I do think you can be a fan and not think they are the hottest most hip act. I still follow and support blunt hasbeens like Cyndi Lauper and Jody Watley but I'd never pretend that either of them are popular like they were in the 1980's. Hell, I have played the latest a-ha cd to death yet I've noticed here and on several other boards that a lot of people had no idea they were even still around to break up.

Of course, Madonna's on a totally different career wavelength as Cyndi and Jody. Those two faded away from the mainstream while Madonna's never fallen out of the public eye. But still... You can be a fan of an artist and yet realize that the entire world isn't with you on them.

This really has nothing to do with what i posted. At the end of the day, people (not just LOONS) still talk about the woman. SHE is still relevant. Her MUSIC is totally different (in terms of mainstream relevancy), it just depends on the moment and what she's going for which is true of ANY artist.

  2. Just by posting in this thread you're making her relevant.

For all of you saying she's not relevant...what the fuck are you doing here? And don't turn this into a "we don't have to like everything she does, LOON!" bullshit. We're not debating her lastest CD. We're talking about relevancy, which is way more than a person's most recent work.

  3. That right there is you projecting your own personal views onto Jesus, and all other 22year olds. You can only speak for yourself. Why is it so hard to believe they could actually be in love...or just lust? Your statement is just pure ageism at it's worst. Madonna may be old enough to be his mom, but she's not, and she's certainly not some dried up old hag, Jesus can only fuck in the dark. Most 22yr olds would kill for a body like hers....when they aren't skarfing down a super sized meal at McDonalds.

She's helping him with his career. So what? Powerful men do the same thing everyday, and no one writes essays about how pathetic, desperate, and irrelevant they've become. If the criticism Madonna receives was more egalitarian, then I wouldn't take issue, but the intense focus on her age and perceived lack of relevance is just disingenuous....and frankly full of shit.

Madonna isn't the only Hollywood star to go under the knife, and she won't be the last. People want her to look like a flawless goddess, but when she does something to maintain it, we criticize....yet there are countless threads here dedicated to her hideous hands, veiny arms, and puffy cheeks on a near daily basis

I personally think she looked her glorious best during the confessions era, but those Hard Candy outtakes probably scared her straight to a surgeons office. If whatever she's done has made her feel better, then it's all good.

And anyone who thinks Angelica Huston has never had work done, I have a bridge across the Hudson for sale.

    Great post

    Of course she's relevant.

    END.

    You're welcome.

  4. Why are you paraphrasing her? She never said the songs were retarded. She said singing them made her feel retarded. There is a major difference. Sometimes I get a strong impression that you are actually just desperate to hate her, its so fucking boring.

    ummm, yes she did.

The songs that I think are the most retarded songs I've written, like "Cherish" and "Sorry", a pretty big hit off my last album, end up being the biggest hits.

Anyway, great interview. I love how relaxed she seems in all her interviews these days.

  5. Madonna can make a groundbreaking video, perform on every talk show, call a hundred dj's, and radio still won't play it......not because it's a shit song (and it is), but because she is not a relevant artist to the teens they cater too. Kids are not interested in hearing a middle aged woman sing about her revulva, with Lil Wayne on backup.

Yet, it worked with 4 Minutes and they were going after the same demographic. ...and 4 Minutes is a shit song and the same 50 year old woman was grinding all over Justin Timberlake. I think it could work. Not that i think we have to even worry about it, and to be honest i don't even care if the woman gets another song played on radio.

  6. Jay Sean is shit, but that's what sells unfortunately. He's good looking, but his music is just bland r&b pop with a the required hot rapper. Forgettable.

Worked for him, but it'll flop for Madonna.

I hate to say this but, you're right. The ONLY reason you're right is that Madonna and Warner will not put any effort into this single (if it ends up being a single). It has nothing to do with the quality of the song. I happen to like it and so do many others (not just Madonna fans). But to play devil's advocate, say it is a shit song, we are ALL witness to quite a few "shit songs" making it to or at least close to that top spot.
