Well looks as though this thread isn't really much use anymore
*KER-FLOP*

I think people have a problem with the Revolver lyrics because it sounds like backtracking. She used to write about her sexuality in such a mature way. Now she's signing about sex the way Britney would. It's not rocket science why people have a hard time finding a common thread between "Poor is the man who's pleasures depend on the permission of another" and "My sex is a killa, do you wanna die happy? I let it bang bang"
-
You're entitled not to like Beautiful Stranger but how can you say its half assed? Sure it steals from another song (I personally don't mind when she does that) but it was the perfect song for her at the time and I thought the instrumental was incredibly sexy and totally went with the film without being corny. The lyrics were cute too.
I enjoy Revolver because it is catchy, not because it's anything I get wowed about. It's very likely to be laughed at by people for being sung by a 51 year old woman. At least Beautiful Stranger was sexy - and she didn't even have to try.
-
Who said it was cool when either of those two pandered to Perez? It's not cool for ANYONE to do it.
-
Interesting. Didn't know that Dickens.
Maybe Madonna retooled Revolver with Paul? I really am excited for Revolver, I just think the addition of Lil Wayne sounds soooooo awkward and lame.
-
THe song is good all on its own. Don't understand why that waste of molecules LIL WAYNE has to be on it.
-
It's a really uneventful opener, I agree. Possibly her lamest since the 80's. I do like the performance though, which is good mainly because of how incredible she looks and how much fun she has with it. There's a reason I hated it when she did it at Roseland but liked it during Dry & Sour. It's only because of her. At Roseland it was all new and she hadn't worked the kinks out of it - now it comes really easy to her and it's great to watch.

Not that I disagree, but I do feel videos have far less of an impact these days. It's a shame because I thought our culture has become more visual, so I'd think videos would be more popular and much more sophisticated.
I think much of it's due to the lack of outlets. Since MTV and VH1 pretty much ditched videos on their main channels, people now rely on the internet or paid music stations to see these videos. The paid stations do limit video viewership, but the internet certainly helps expose videos. But again, I just don't see the same enthusiasm like back in the 80's and early 90's.
The enthusiasm is still there. It has just changed. Videos are now a part of the web 2.0 movement thats been happening and growing for years. Artists who don't embrace this are left in the dust, which is why videos are more important than ever in a way. If you don't have a good looking video on youtube, consider yourself a minute away from irrelevancy. We live in an age where a band like the Kings of Leon can go from virtual indie nothings last August to everyone's favorite band this August, all thanks you YouTube.
With all of this in mind, Madonna's apparent refusal to make a good video for the singles she puts out is becoming more and more baffling by the day.
-
why oh why do people continue to think videos nowadays make that much of a difference anymore lol? In 1990, definitely, but not in 2009. If the song is good people buy it, if it sucks, they wont.
You could not be more wrong about that. Shakira, Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Madonna herself are just a few recent examples of people who made songs that were propelled by the popularity of their videos.
-
And I'm not knocking the MADONNA part of Celebrate. The melody and hook is slick and sweet and definitely what Madonna is all about. Oakenfold just didn't live up to it with his instrumental unfortunately.
I do like the song, I just feel like it could have been way more grand. The Benny mix was a step in the right direction. In any event I can't wait to see the video and/or performances of it.
-
Celebration in its original form sounds like those corny Eurovision songs. The Benny Bennassi mix has more of a personality so MAYBE comparisons on that level make more sense. But overall Celebration is exactly what it was intended to be - a party song for her fans and a method of selling her Greatest Hits package. In my opinion Get Together took the whole cheap Ibiza sound and turned it into something really compelling and cool, and moving in a way. It was an anthem that never was, and one of the best songs she's made in the last decade. *IN MY OPINION* ....
-
There is no way someone can say that Celebration is better than Get Together. Get Together is magic. Celebration is cute but it is cheeeeeeeeeeeeeaaap.

See which flavor you LAK and I'll have it for you *caresses Jason's beautiful face* come on into my STOH I've got candy GALOW *WHIP!*

I am closing this thread now. Jamesshot, Lucky Guy, and Kurt420... the way you've gone on and on in this thread with the attacks (some of them hideously passive aggressive) is almost sad. There's no need for the melodrama. Have some decency to counter people's dumb opinions with something dignified. Otherwise you're just as fucking embarassing as they are.
Ending this.

Can I do the stair part?
You know, when she walks down
But I must say I really do disagree about which tour is better (re Confessions/Dry & Sour). Perfections takes the cake for me, but they both CREAM Reinvention Tour which looks SO bad now.

Blah. I'll stick to the remix.

i think u need to do a vlog about the ass and its cleanliness and whether it should be used for sexual purposes or not
Meh, I'm tired of talking about secks. I'm like Madonna circa 1994. I'm romantical right now.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand
-
you can clean an ass all you want, but its never no more than an inch away from human waste and bacteria
SoSoDef, I know you fantasize about anal sex on the daily. Hell even straight couples do it. The fact that we shit from there has yet to stop the human race from engaging in anal ever since the cavemen times! Take it up with motha nature if you have such a problem with it. Your virginial self will die barren!
-
assholes are so nasty and gross. thats why no one talks about them
Not if you clean them and take care of them like any sensible human being with hygiene would do.
You do realize by saying that all holes are nasty/gross, you are confirming to the whole world that you have a disgraceful asshole
-
you really once had nice thoughts of my asshole?
I guess that's kind of impossible because your pothead ass has never posted a picture, so the answer is no
Although you, Pud, CUBB, and I seem to be the only men who ever even talk about assholes here, so I just consider you my asshole bretheren.
-
The only thing good is M's own vocals. I was able to just keep my mind on her voice, and that setteled my hole, just for a little, but then the slushie shit started to drip out.
Whoopie, you do realize you're ruining my image of your asshole right now. Why would you do that to lil old me

The remix that we've been hearing the past few weeks is waaaaaaaaay better. Thank god that's what's being used in the video. This sounds cheap.
Do you think Celebration will be one of Madonnas biggest flops?
