yes janet is his sister. yes she performed under difficult circumstances. but it was all bombast and no heart. there was nothing sentimental about it. it was all for show. i would rather have seen her actually sing one of his songs or do a tribute to him that way. it was disappointing because what could have been a truly amazing performance ended up being all hype and no substance.
but your right thinking a emotional speech was a better tribute rather than some glaring and lipsynching is cause for you to hit the ban button

I guess I just dont think of it as a thunder stealing situation. She performed a song as a tribute to her dead brother. Madonna made a speech honoring him. Why is it a contest?

Oh I don't know for sure, it just made sense seeing as they've already released Celebration and she did the video in 1 day. Even if they do "release" it I can't see her even bothering to do a video. Just going by how she's been with singles lately.

I think its safe to say that the VMAs haven't been this good since 2003. This show is amazing. Every performance (well, for the most part) has been an event. Even Lady Gaga's horrible performance.
