Light is more "dated" than Erotica.Erotica is patchy and has dated.
Ray Of Light is flawless from start to finish.

I like your preferences.I don't know if I'm "over it" or even have lost the expectation of it. There's something really special about Confessions on a Dance Floor and it's tour. I use that as an example of the last time when I think it was 'cohesive' from beginning to end. And it was perfect.
Even though the songs were varied, they all seemed related. I like that.
Just a preference of mine.

Since HC what she released had declined in terms of quality , being mdna an all time low point( the album and dvd , not the tour) and now RH for me seems like an undecided/unfinished project that lacked a real direction by having thousands of producers and writers working on some good and some not so good songs. From ROL to COADF she always followed a clearly direction with her music , nowadays its not being the focus.

I thought fans were criticized for using Ray of Light as the default template for a proper Madonna album. I never did. The success of Light allowed Madonna to pursue more serious subject matter in her most upbeat recent recordings in the last decade. The success of Ray of Light and its afterglow benefiting Music allowed for us to get the Drowned World Tour. Devoid of classic era songs with two exceptions for the track list. That is bold and boss. And I am forever grateful that Madonna's success then gave her permission to go down the road less traveled. American Life was the last time musically Madonna experimented in a substantial way. And I will hate all the fans who continue to shit on that record while defending her two albums from this decade.

90's Madonna era was the best. The 80's are classic era. But the 90's are the ultimate sweet spot for me as a fan. And I love what she did musically in the 00's.

Same producer same artist same result. However it's still quality on an album that had very little of it.It's a very, very very beautiful song. Although I always feel that it has the ROL vibe and seems dated anyhow. Maybe if ROL didn't exist i would be on my knees praising that song.
