  1. More info. I have some good news and some bad news. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane confirmed and locked in. Definitely happening. Perth may not. Live Nation needs maximum yield per show to turn a profit and it's doubtful that they can fly the whole thing over to the West Coast just for a couple of shows at a mid-sized arena and still make money, considering the transport costs and how much $$$ Madonna and her team require. So it's likely now that Perth will be scrapped and the tour restricted to the East Coast, with Perth replaced by an East Coast winery show or shows. To me, this is absolutely crazy - I just can't imagine Madonna doing a f*cking winery show, it's the kind of thing a 'heritage act' does in their twilight years - but apparently some big artists have done it and wineries are increasingly becoming a major vector in the Australian concert market. Also, winery shows can easily host 10,000+ - in some cases over 20,000 - so the capacity is akin to an arena or even a small stadium. I'm still shocked at the idea though.

The other thing I can reveal is that the tour is ending in Australia, which is pretty cool IMO. There aren't many Asian dates and there will be no South American dates.

  2. OK, so big news. Lots has changed since my last post… an agreement has been reached and she'll now be giving us a proper tour. She will now be visiting four cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth - and will be in Australia for almost a month. At this stage, the tour dates will be announced on Tuesday, June 9. *Maybe* earlier but definitely no later than that. It's happening! :)

  3. Could you tell us what Asian cities she's looking to perform in? Please!

I really don't know sorry - all I know is Australia will be locked in after the Asian dates are secured. I'm assuming that means the Australian dates will occur after Asia and that the tour will end here, which is kinda cool. I'm presuming it will be more than just Japan but that's my assumption. If she goes to Hong Kong or Singapore, I'm gonna go to one of those too in addition to Sydney and Melbourne. :)

  4. Thanks for the info ipex, it seems impossible to find anything anywhere else on the web about it.

No probs, I wish I had more to report. The only other thing I can say is that apparently the negotiations have been a bit of a nightmare, lol. TBH, I kinda feel like this tour is slipping away like all the others BUT I've been assured it's definitely going ahead in early 2016 - it's just a matter of the Asian dates being locked in first. So that's something positive at least! :)

  5. Hi all, a little more news - nothing too positive, I'm afraid: the planned tour announcement has been pushed back to May. :( Nothing else has changed, it's still scheduled to be Sydney and Melbourne only and they're talking 12 days in Australia. Having said that, no firm dates have been locked in, no venues have actually been booked and they won't be until the Asian dates are secured. Because frankly, without Asian dates the profit margins on Australia are seriously diminished (it would be prohibitively expensive to bring the tour to this side of the world for a few dates in Sydney and Melbourne).

But we all know these "insiders" are always 100% correct! … :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm no kind of insider and don't claim to be - I just happen to know people at Live Nation Australia working on this tour. That's all. I don't particularly care whether you believe me or not, I just thought some other fans might appreciate me sharing what I know - which isn't much.

  6. Is this practically 100% confirmed? Perhaps she will tour the rest of country on the next tour afterwards.

Yep. I'm a bit disappointed TBH, I wanted a BIG tour - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, multiple dates in each city - but I guess we can be glad she's coming at all, considering her history (or lack of) with Australia. I wouldn't hold my breath to see her in other cities in the future. But it will still be amazing and I plan to see all dates in Sydney and Melbourne (well, as many as I can afford!).

So exciting. Do you know which month. I guess that its arenas so weather doesnt really matter.

Aussies get your credit cards ready

All I know is early 2016, which we all know anyway. Yes, at least it's arenas - not only does it mean weather won't affect things but it's generally much better for sight lines and sound.

  7. No doubt it will be so successful that they'll add on loads of dates in Sydney and Melbourne

12 days is allocated to Australia (which really means 10 full days in the country), so realistically we're probably looking at 3-4 shows each in Sydney and Melbourne. Which will still equate to a lot of tickets. Four shows in both venues at capacity = 150,000 tickets.

  8. OK, I have some very reliable info. Apparently it's going to be Sydney and Melbourne ONLY - Allphones Arena in Sydney and Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. Some 'tour' - more like a whistlestop visit to two cities!

Expect one date in Sydney and one in Melbourne to be announced initially - with room for a few more to be added - but only in Sydney and Melbourne, she is NOT doing Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide or any other cities. Brisbane was on the table but has been scrapped - the Brisbane Entertainment Centre has been deemed not up to it. The ticket prices will be the highest this country has ever seen.

  9. Also, if *anyone* gets a chance to speak to Guy or anyone 'in the know' at one of the upcoming shows, it would be greatly appreciated if you could ask what happened/is happening with Australia. Part of me (a *very* small part) maintains a forlorn hope that M is going to announce an MDNA Tour part II for Australia/NZ. Stupid, I know. But it would make sense for her to do a slightly different tour here, perhaps more along the lines of a 'greatest hits' tour considering she's only ever been to Australia once and never to New Zealand. I know this is just wishful thinking though - at this stage I'd be *very* surprised if she ever comes here again.

  10. To the person (Je5us, I think) moaning about people destroying/burning their Madonna collections over this: there were only a couple of people saying that and one of them was me. I can't speak for anyone else, but OF COURSE I wasn't serious when I said stuff like 'I want to smell bonfires' of Madonna memorabilia being burned. I was being an OTT drama queen but I would never actually do that. The sad reality is that Madonna could announce and cancel five more Australian tours and I would still (begrudgingly) be a fan. The woman has just given me too many sublime pop moments to throw them all away and discount them because she won't tour here.

Having said that it does REALLY piss me off that she keeps treating us in this way (not only the lack of Oz tours but the way she prick teases us with hollow tour announcements). I will always collect her physical music but when it comes to downloading her stuff, I'm not going to bother anymore.

There is also now a new issue - the issue being that it seems Madonna and Guy have decided to sweep the Australian leg under the carpet and pretend it never happened. No word from them AT ALL - only from Live Nation (and even they had the temerity to say the tour will end in South America "as planned".) I am truly shocked that Madonna will not even address her Australian fans now - she's pretending Australia doesn't even exist. At least with the Confessions tour we got an apology on her official website.

On another note, I just want to say how lovely most of the international fans have been to us Aussies on here. It's really nice to see kind, supportive posts from fans around the world expressing empathy and their wishes that she would tour here - thank you. :)

At the end of the day, it is only a tour by a pop star - I know it means nothing in the scheme of the universe - but to us true M fans, it means a lot being able to see her or not.

  11. And don't pick on Carta. He is the grand sensei and the sweetest guy ever :inlove: and he is absolutely correct with his interpretation of that video.

Honey, I didn't pick on Carta, I disagreed with him on one point. And the one 'insulting' comment wasn't that bad, I just said "no offence but are you blind" - it was a throwaway line, not an attack on his very existence, and I apologised. And there is no "correct" or "incorrect" interpetation of that video because none of us are mind readers and none of us are Madonna - there is only opinion. Which we are all entitled to, 'grand sensei' or not.

  12. I understand that you're upset, but you really don't need to resort to insults (and wouldn't you be embarrassed if I actually were blind...!). As I said, all Madonna's reaction proved was that she didn't want to think about how long she was going to be on the road for (she said, "That's a long way off...I'm in Italy now" etc. etc.).

I'm old enough to remember the first time Madonna appeared on Countdown. I have no recollection of an interview with Molly Meldrum in which she said anything about airplay. Could you help me find a link to it, please?

I spoke to Guy in Berlin - twice. He may have been lying to my face, but I do not believe he was, and nor does another friend who knows him quite well. In the past, he has told me personally that they're "trying" to bring the current tour (at the time) to Australia. This time, it was "we're coming". You don't have to believe me. Others probably wish they hadn't believed me now, but I know for sure that she was coming here. People at other forums have also been able to confirm that venues were booked. It was happening. If it's easier for you to believe that it never was, then that's fine. To each their own.

I'm sorry Carta, I don't mean to be rude to you, please forgive me.

I do believe the tour was on (Live Nation confirmed it in an official media release, Athur Fogel mentioned it in an interview with Billboard, and Guy referred to it several times). I also believe that the venues were booked, and that Guy spoke to you about it, and that he was telling you the truth. He would have no reason to lie to your face like that. But obviously at some point, the tour was scrapped - and I believe that point had been reached by the time this Italian interview was recorded. This interview is only a few weeks old, as far as I can tell; it was uploaded on June 28. I didn't at any point say the tour "never was" (that's your words, not mine), I just believe that by the time this Italian interview was recorded, Madonna knew it wasn't happening. To me, there is clearly some issue, based on her reaction in that clip. I could be wrong and I have no proof - but that's what I believe.

Anyway, it's all academic now - whatever point it was decided to cancel the Aus leg, clearly it has been cancelled. There is no doubt about that.

I don't have any link to Molly Meldrum's claim. He made it in "Molly's Humdrum" in TV Week (remember that?). I even remember the headline "Why Madonna won't tour here" (because it struck me like a knife in the heart, LOL) and he was quite clear in the article that M personally told him it was because Australian radio wouldn't support her. I remember being quite upset because I thought, 'Who cares if radio stations won't support you - what about your many fans? Clearly, the Australian public supports you because we just put you at #1 for 5 weeks.'

Again, sorry for any disrespect to you - it wasn't intended.

  13. Ipex I have a fuck load of money saved for the tour that didn't happen, you should sell me that autographed Sex book !!!!

Really? I must admit I am tempted... how much is a 'fuck load'??? PM me with what you're willing to pay - and an email address, so I can send you pics of the book, etc. It is mint condition. :)
