  1. I do think Rebel Heart is overall a cohesive record even though it doesn't flow quite well at certain moments. If she had kept it as a double album, we would end up getting a record (Heart) full of album closer tracks with repeating lyrical themes, and another one (Rebel) which a lot of the anti-sex/bitch/rebel fans will completely ignore.

The album will sound more and more cohesive in the future once the nostalgia/zeitgeist factor kicks in. Bedtime Stories sounds way more cohesive than it did 20 years ago.

  2. SEX is not a joke song so please stop saying it is or the only way to accept it, is if it is a joke. Or her humor.

If you listen to the bridge on the demo, she means it. As she should.

wtf READ her rolling stone interview. She has explicitly said that all these sex/bitch songs on the album reflect her humorous side.

  3. I agree. I don't see how vulgarity equates being fun or cool. Nothing against Madonna personally, but I have no interest in hearing about her vaginal secretions. And I agree with the "been there, done that" feeling. I'm not saying she shouldn't do it or that others can't like it. There are thoses of use who love Madonna, but don't like certain songs for various reasons. It seems all or nothing on here. Life doesn't work that way, so why should Madonna's discography?

Show me the receipts of her old music with similar lyrical content. Even Erotica isn't even close to the explicitness of the rebel songs.

This is the FIRST time EVER Madonna is going all the way vulgar with her music and the result is refreshing and fun.

  4. Well put! I personally don't feel that Madonna swearing or talking about cunnilingus is 'rebellious' or 'cool'. I personally don't like vulgar songs. It's like been there done that M, please move on. I loved Erotica (song) and JML because they were sonically interesting and arty but crude references like in Where Life Begins, I just think it's beneath her. I define her 'rebelliousness' as when she has something interesting to say or an interesting angle at viewing something, not when she says a rude word because quite frankly anyone can do that it doesn't require talent.

This is the first time Madonna doing such explicitly vulgar music. You probably are not familiar with her discography.

And no, you don't define HER rebelliousness. She has said more than once that her rebel side is being a tongue and cheek renegade who fucks with people's mind.

  5. 1. ROL (cohesive, solid lyrics, innovative for its time, a journey from beginning to end, wouldn't change a thing about it)

    2. COADF (cohesive, solid lyrics for the most part, a journey from beginning to end, wouldn't change a thing about it)

    3. Madonna (cohesive, consistent, aged extremely well, full of classics, wouldn't change a thing about it)

    4. LAP (not as cohesive as the three above but with gems all over, solid lyrics, great range, near perfection)

    5. TB (more than half of it are 5 of the greatest pop songs of all time, how many other albums can claim that?)

    6. BS (introspective and uneven but somewhat cohesive, it is a grower)

    7. Rebel Heart*

    8. Erotica (could have used some editing, some of it hasn't aged as well but solid overall)

*Based on the Super Deluxe Version and its current sequence/tracklist, I would say that it could use some editing like Erotica and that it is uneven but somewhat cohesive like Bedtime Stories. I think it is a grower and it may go up after the dust has settled. But, as with Erotica, if I were to rearrange it and cut some tracks, it would be much higher in my ranking. My own version of RH would be #2 in my ranking right now. But I'm glad I get to enjoy all of these songs even if they don't quite flow in my opinion.

Another cohesive freak like me ! :popcorn2:

Why would you consider the SD version for ranking purpose while saying it needs editing?

To me RH is a 14-track album of eclectic styles with a cohesive production undertone so I think it kinda works?

  6. Time to rank the albums motherfuckers :popcorn2:

Last time we did the ranking during MDNA release many people placed it at Top 5 and..... a fews week later...... :stir:

Now that most of us have listened to the record for over a month and the inital hype has settled a bit, how would you rank the album? :newspaper:

    1.Like A Prayer

    2.Ray Of light

    3.American Life

    4.Bedtime Stories

    5.Erotica

    6.Rebel Heart

    7.Hard Candy

    8.Music

    9.COADF

    10. Madonna

    11. True Blue

    12. MDNA

    13. Like A Virgin

  7. I think the standard edition deserved a different tracklist. They literally just cut it off after WAOM. Why? Are the tracks after that inferior? It makes no sense. I guess M listed the songs from favorite to least favorite.

WAOM is a very good album closer though so I don't think they randomly just cut off the last 5 tracks. The ending with Holy Water-Inside Out-WAOM on the standard version is amazing.

  8. I really don't understand why everyone gets so worked up at the mere mention of the word "demo". No one would be telling others to move on or let it go or calling others names if someone said they liked a remix or a live version, so who cares if they like a demo? I can see being annoyed if someone repeatedly talks about a demo/alternate version being better or insulting other peoples taste, but for gods sake, all the guy said was that the demo version was one of his favorites. Is it a crime for me to say that I like the vikram remix of Nothing Really Matters way way way better than the original? Its just an opinion, everyone is entitled to express them. And I think its really lame to call people whiny bitches or whatever else from behind the safety of a computer screen. 99% of these inconsiderate jerks know damn well they would NEVER have the courage to actually say this stuff to anyone in person.

Because they are, and I have seen that particular person complaining about how they fucked up the demo version of Inside Out is for at least 5 times on this forum and I'm not even exaggerating. No one wants the final song discussion threads to derail to the same ol' demo talk all over again. If you don't like the song, then express your opinions on how the final versions suck instead of just dropping that tiring "Meh the demo was better bye felicia" bomb in every thread.

  9. There's nothing cringe worthy about M-dolla doing her thang,

    I find it hilarious

Can you be my father, tell me what to do
You can punish me and maybe I will punish you

What do you know about sex

Tell me what you know about sex

  10. OMG!! why am i surprised that there's lots of filipinos here? We should get together for the concert! my friends won't pay top dollar but we should enjoy the concert to the fullest and be nearest to the stage, you guys/gays/gals/whatever! I'd love her to visit Manila (at least for 3 days to enjoy the beautiful beaches while here) but I'd go anywhere in Asia to see her.

This. And none of my friends would go with me either lolz
