  1. Animal is the FINISHED and MASTERED track, it's NOT a demo. It doesn't need to be polished at all.

Exactly. This track sounds perfect just the way it is.To the person who said that most of these leaks are crap...I think "Animal" is better than 90% of the tracks that made it onto Hard Candy!

  2. Well, I may be pretty alone on this. But, those demos were Madonna's. I'd be ticked too if they were released without my permission. And I disagree with the person that said Madonna owes us these demos. She doesn't owe us or anyone anything. This is stealing. How would you feel if a ton of your work was handed out for free and someone said you owed it to them without paying for it. It's not right.

Yes,it is "stealing" but *WE* didn't steal it :) Why should we feel guilty? We didn't have access into the Madonna vaults.Someone else apparently did.

I really don't see the harm in fans hearing this stuff. When you're a fan of an artist, you're natually curious about the songs that they record but don't release. It's fun to listen to these tracks and imagine what could have been. It's like watching the alternate ending on a DVD.

True,Madonna doesn't owe us anything, but it would be nice if she could give us a little treat once in a while ;) Something to tide us over until the next official CD comes out.

  3. That is certainly something I hope never ever happens! I despise and hate Gaga for all her vacuous, empty and superficial output into this world. So to have that girl directly linked to Madonna in any project would be a complete nightmare. I keep saying that she's brutally overrated, hyped to the extreme and that her artistic output is her worst feature. She shrouds not only herself, but her entire artistic career in superficial hoopla, of costumes, designer labels, image-building and crazy antics. All her looks, quotes and performances seem like a big "best-of" collection of the cream of the crop in pop music without adding even a single shred of commentary or personal insight. She comes across as dead in photography, no spark with any camera, sexless. She couldn't be further removed from Madonna even if she tried! Madonna has indeed used image and superficial elements as costumes etc, but it was always used to strengthen the concept and the music. With Gaga any sort of conceptual thinking seems to be an after-thought, at best!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that M stays far away from Gaga, cause it can not bring her any good! She needs to focus on her own strength and show the world how it's really done and how she and only she holds the title of Queen of Pop for all eternity (as far as that term has any meaning, seeing as it's shopped around to every pop starlet with 2 hits under her belt these days)

    I agree with you,Robster!

  4. Madonna has always been extremely popular with black people. Her first album got alot of love on R&B radio.Rappers practically worship her....Jay-Z,50 Cent,Snoop Dogg and Ludacris have all expressed a desire to collaborate with her.Mary J.Blige,Chris Brown and others also want to do a song with her.Timbaland has said that Madonna is the artist that he MOST wanted to work with (Pharrell expressed a similiar sentiment).

  5. I agree,The Girlie Show is Madonna's best tour! Just a perfect, amazing show from beginning to end.It featured the best band she ever had.REAL musicians playing real music....there wasn't alot of pre-recorded music on this tour.

  6. And as far as the commercial success or lack of of HC, I think both sides in these arguments exaggerate. It wasn't the huge flop that the HC haters say, but it wasn't quite the great success the HC lovers want it to be. 4 Minutes was a huge hit, but the sales of the album as a whole were somewhat disappointing, though not a total disaster. It certainly wasn't a big comeback or make her profile in the music business higher, but I don't think it did her that much damage commercially either. But I do think artistically it was a huge step backwards for her as far as being respected as a songwriter and an artist.

I think we all need to realize that it's not 1989 anymore.Madonna is not gonna sell 10 million+ copies of an album,no matter how it sounds or who produces it.She could go into the studio with Patrick Leonard and make 'Like A Prayer 2' and it would still sell less than 'Hard Candy'.Having said that,I think 'Hard Candy' sold decently, all things considered (illegal downloading, lack of promotion, etc).

  7. I hope she works with Pharrell again, and I certainly think she's not done with him yet.

Pharrell is one of the best producers that Madonna has ever worked with.He really pushed her, challenging her to do things that she wouldn't normally do.Plus,I think he really "studied" her previous albums,to come up with tunes that are tailor-made for her.He gave her songs that recall her 80s heyday.

  8. Hits where?

How many over 40's artists are being played on US Radio which is much needed to make it a hit?

Where would have MA reached the top 20? The song is not even worthy of being a B-side. The song flopped in the UK her strongest market and people may cite the lack of promotion as a factor in that but it was a top 10 air play hit here. The whole HC era put off many people - look at the stats in the UK it sold a 1/4 of COADF.

I doubt the UK and the rest of Europe would have paid too much attention to BGO - its far too rent-a-rapper. It could have been a Hot 100 hit in the USA BECAUSE of Kanye.

We'll have to agree to disagree ;) I think 'Hard Candy' had alot of hit potential."4 Minutes" became Madonna's most successful hit single since "Vogue"!!."Beat Goes On" has all the ingredients to make Top 10 in America.Other songs like "Heartbeat","She's Not Me" and "Devil" would have found an audience,as well.If Warners had done their job,"Miles Away" could have easily become a Top 20 hit.Like I said before,Hard Candy is the most commercial,radio-friendly album that Madonna has done in years. The potential hits were there. The real story is....Warners were pissed at Madonna for leaving their company for LiveNation, which is the REAL reason why they didn't do alot of aggressive promotion.

  9. Promotion can only go so far. All of the song on HC are dull, uninspiring, soulless, dry. BGO would only have been a hit because of Kanye.

The problem is she went to make a radio friendly album and it sounded like Nelly Furtado cast offs.

I disagree with you.I think 'Hard Candy' contains songs that are exciting, fun and infectious."Miles Away" is a Madonna classic in my book. With effective promotion, that could have easily reached the Top 20."Beat Goes On" had "hit single" written all over it.Warners must have been deaf if they couldn't hear the hit potential of this album. There are at least four or five strong singles here.

  10. I don't see the discussion. Madonna has always used producers, then moved on when she felt she's gone as far as she needs to go with them. A lesser artist would still be using Orbit over and over again in hopes to recapture the spark of Ray Of Light, look at how many times Mariah keeps running back to Jermaine Dupri because Mimi was a smash. Madonna worked with Stuart, it was a smash (worldwide, maybe not so much in America but considering it sold more than twice what both AL and HC did, it proves it did well) then she moved on to something else. It's nothing new for her and I don't think Price should find or come up with any explanations except for that Madonna moves on to different producers much like she did with Orbit and Mirwais as well.

Exactly. Many pop artists work with the same producers over and over, basically making the same album over and over.Mariah Carey comes to mind.Thankfully,Madonna doesn't do this.As much as I love COADF,I wouldn't want her to repeat it.

  11. I understand people have their own opinion of the actual music on HC. Her fans are so dismissive of the FACTS though, like.... it's actual success. Some fans like to pretend like the WHOLE WORLD shared their opinion when that's not the case. Look to the "success" of AL for an album that was CLEARLY not liked by many. HC was actually a pretty big album....not a PEAK for her no, but for an album by Madonna released in 2008 it did pretty fucking well. One of the top sellers of the year, producing one of the biggest worldwide hits of her career....not to mention for the first time in a DECADE nearly I heard Madonna on the radio again. And before anyone throws it out there NO I DON'T THINK SALES/MASSIVE AIRPLAY EQUAL QUALITY but, it shows that the whole project wasn't a bust despite the picture that some fans who HATED the musical direction she went in like to paint. I know I've said this a lot but fans let their own personal opinion of the music on the album cloud the actual facts and the fact is HC was a hit. What's funny is that even if everybody here loves her next album and it's critically acclaimed to the heavens, it's going to struggle to reach the worldwide success of HC.

I love you :) Agree with everything you said.

  12. Are you honestly saying that Hard Candy's subpar performance was due to lack of promotion?

Warners did a horrible job with the promotion.Everyone knows that "Beat Goes On" would have been a huge hit in America. It's catchy, fun and features Kanye West on it.Any other record company would have wasted no time releasing it as a single, with tons of promotion and hype.Warners dropped the ball on that one. They also didn't see the hit potential of other songs like "She's Not Me" and "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You".It's ironic that Madonna gave them her most commercial,radio-friendly album in YEARS and they still didn't know how to promote it.

  13. We don't even know what song that was, and it could've been one that didn't make the cut.

I disagree that Timbaland gave her his worst tracks. On the contrary, "4 Minutes" has a great hook and beat. I know it is treated like the plague around here, but I still think this is a very strong single. It's brassy, big and catchy. Justin may have helped with the airplay, but it is still a legitimate, huge hit - even in Europe where Madonna is way bigger than Justin. I also love "Devil," "Dance 2Night," and "Voices."

Hard Candy was just an experiment with current hiphop/urban dance styles. I understand some people didn't like that style, but it's not the anathema that some are making it out to be, and it did relatively well considering the state of the industry.

I agree.I love 'Hard Candy'.One of the great things about being a Madonna fan is,we get albums that are different than the previous album.Madonna is into all types of music,so it's not surprising that her albums would reflect that.Like you say,'Hard Candy' is just an experiment. The next album will sound totally different.I appreciate the way Madonna evolves as an artist.
