Madonna debuts on Pop Songs at No. 36 with "Living for Love," aided by concentrated on plays on several iHeartMedia-owned stations; for instance, WHTZ New York played it 19 times in the week ending Feb. 22, according to Nielsen Music, and KIIS Los Angeles spun it 16 times. She makes her 29th visit (dating to the chart's October 1992 launch) and first since 2012, when "Give Me All Your Luvin'," featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., and "Girl Gone Wild" reached Nos. 24 and 38, respectively (sparked by notable plays at iHeartMedia; "Luvin' " aired hourly for nearly three days at the chain leading up to her Super Bowl halftime appearance that year).

    This seems like good news....right?

  2. I still can't believe that people are bringing up "demos" as songs that should be singles. Never in my life have I seen before where an official album is about to be released and instead we are constantly hearing that people preferred demos and that they should be on the album instead. This album has been judged and dissected even before it is properly released in many ways.

I agree. The demos are fun to listen to,but I consider them to be a "work in progress".The final versions are the versions that Madonna wants us to hear,so that's what I focus on.

  3. As for M herself, the fight against ageism is an important battle in her career-long revolution for freedom. I think she needs to rebuild some political capital though to wage the battle successfully, and the best way to do that would be to do a few things that would surprise and win over the general public. I hope she does a few performances that focus on music rather than theatricality, or at least emphasize the music more. Many people expect her to do something theatrical (or controversial) at this point and though they will watch the performance I don't think it will translate as well to sales or spins/streams from the general public. But I think they would be favorably surprised if she did, for example, a down to basics performance of purely live vocals and instruments (sort of like her SNL performance of Bad Girl), which I think would do a better job of translating into tangible benefits for the songs and album. And in turn, I think she would then also be better positioned to advance her ideas if the general public is engaged in her music and therefore willing to listen.

I totally agree.I wish she would go on the chat shows and do some acoustic performances of songs like "Ghosttown" and "Joan Of Ark".I think the general public would be surprised to see her in a setting like that....no props,no dancers,no controversy.....just Madonna and her *music*.

  4. Gotta totally disagree. The demo of BS would never have worked on the album. The final version fits in very well...it almost feels like an end credits after going through the whole 'journey' of the main album. Having just re-listened to the demo to see if I was missing what some of you are talking about, I just don't hear it at all. It was tentative, but in need of work.

I love what "Beautiful Scars" evolved into.....a sleek, disco number. It's actually one of my Top 5 favorites on the album.

  5. People are forgetting that the demos were merely a part of the process. Replacing the final tracks with demos is completely ridiculous. No one did that for the other albums, nor should they do that with this one. The final album is the statement Madonna wanted to put out. No one had to listen to the demos, but they chose to and ruined the album for themselves.

There's nothing wrong with listening to the demos though. I listened to them. But allowing yourself to get so used to them that you can't even listen to the finished album is just insane.

Oh well. Glad you like both the album and the demos :)

I agree.I listened to the demos and it was interesting to hear these songs in their unfinished form, but the "final" versions are the ones I'm focusing on.They're the versions that matter....the versions that Madonna wants us to hear.I didn't wanna get too caught up in the demos.

  6. This is such a powerful song! I was driving around town today, playing this song really loud.I had a huge smile on my face :) The production just "grabs" you and won't let go.I'm hoping that Interscope/Live Nation has something big planned for this song.It would be a strong second single.
