  1. "So start saving your pennies now. People spend $300 on crazy things all the time, things like handbags. So work all year, scrape the money together, and come to my show. I'm worth it."

I definitely think it was a joke besides the bag part. I honestly think she believes $300 purchases are a doable thing for the average person. When you're a millionaire/billionaire you kind of lose touch on stuff like that.

It's like when the media ask politicians what's the price of a litre of petrol?

  2. Jacket, I know you mentioned the journal, but I think she uses that as a diary. I remember reading her interview in Time magazine where she said that everyday she would write in her journal about how lonely she was when she first come to New York. I hope she has kept up that habit as then it would make an incredibly accurate account of her life from her own perspective. Imagine the auto-biography she could then write.

Me too and those pre-fame days in New York are so fascinating.

She mentioned having one on Howard Stern

My memory was that was more for her song writing, but I'll have to revisit that. The Howard interview like a little entree, those personal stories she shared were great.

  3. I bet it's the amount of money they're asking. I doubt the other artists are requesting so much. Just my guess.

Yeah, so then negotiate. I mean, if it's the same situation again as with SS where no local promoter would take the risk - experience tells you bring the price down.

She just needs to lower her fee so Australian fans can get to see her. Honestly how much money does she need?

    Exactly.

  4. This whole era has had weird vibes. I love the songs, looks, interviews, but the process around how things have happened has just been wack. The large scale leaks, the fall, fabulous singles not making a dent on charts, instagram controversies, coachella, and now this tour rejig. Not to mention Australia being left dangling for MONTHS.

  5. What the fuck is wrong with some people in this thread?! :megamanson:

If you don't know anything about the person's travel conditions and their efforts to contact airlines, hotels, third party sites, then shut the fuck up.

If you think Madonna is in more need of defending than giving some empathy (or at the least sympathy) to people posting in this forum, shut the fuck up.

If you have the urge to lecture about the risks of traveling to see a concert, be it on opening night or not, shut the fuck up.

  6. Yes, it's unfortunate for people that have tickets, but I would guess the the majority of the people who have tickets live in the area where the concerts are taking place. I really don't think there are that many people who are flying there from other parts of the country just because it's opening night, just a few of the most dedicated fans.

It's very unfortunate that this happened, but I'm sure she wouldn't do it unless she had a very good reason and no other choice. Her shows are very complicated and she has to get things right. The fact is most concerts are booked with the idea that the vast majority of people are coming from the immediate surrounding area and not flying there long distance. That's why tours go to many different cities. I personally rarely if ever travel merely to see a concert, if the person is coming to my area because of this possibility if will be cancelled or the date changed. It's a risk you take when you travel.

The good part is she did give you advance notice, it's not like she did it a few days before the concert so you still have time to make adjustments. I understand people being upset but sometimes things have to be changed for unavoidable reasons. The good thing is the dates are being rescheduled.

There are 2469501 cities and about 600,000 towns in the world. Madonna is maybe going to 20 or 30 of these. People with money travel for concerts, especially for big acts.

  7. She wont cancel as shes rescheduling. I think theyve just moved those dates so its easier to then do Latin and South America. At least she's not straight up cancelling. I don't think the reason for moving the dates is low ticket sales at all. Even though theyre not the best if they were so low they would just cancel.

Yeah it looks like the reschedule is being set up as the launching pad into a South America leg of the tour.

I fear for Asia and Oceania because before this, it looked like South America was gonna miss out. Madonna won't want to continue this tour after 3 continents I reckon.

  8. This is such a shitty move if it's all about saving face from low ticket sales. I hope everyone that booked flights and accommodation can get some of their money back. :(

She really should have started the tour in places in the world where there is high demand - South America, Asia/Oceania and then saturated markets like US/Europe later and hope the buzz gets the casual fan interested.

OR, MAYBE JUST LOWER THE FUCKING PRICES.
