  1. More info. I have some good news and some bad news. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane confirmed and locked in. Definitely happening. Perth may not. Live Nation needs maximum yield per show to turn a profit and it's doubtful that they can fly the whole thing over to the West Coast just for a couple of shows at a mid-sized arena and still make money, considering the transport costs and how much $$$ Madonna and her team require. So it's likely now that Perth will be scrapped and the tour restricted to the East Coast, with Perth replaced by an East Coast winery show or shows. To me, this is absolutely crazy - I just can't imagine Madonna doing a f*cking winery show, it's the kind of thing a 'heritage act' does in their twilight years - but apparently some big artists have done it and wineries are increasingly becoming a major vector in the Australian concert market. Also, winery shows can easily host 10,000+ - in some cases over 20,000 - so the capacity is akin to an arena or even a small stadium. I'm still shocked at the idea though.

The other thing I can reveal is that the tour is ending in Australia, which is pretty cool IMO. There aren't many Asian dates and there will be no South American dates.

Oh wow -t hanks fo rthe updater.

Can't believe shes goingt os nub the lucracive south aemrican marek32

  2. OK, so big news. Lots has changed since my last post… an agreement has been reached and she'll now be giving us a proper tour. She will now be visiting four cities - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth - and will be in Australia for almost a month. At this stage, the tour dates will be announced on Tuesday, June 9. *Maybe* earlier but definitely no later than that. It's happening! :)

Even though none of my friends will go because they ain't more than partial to her old hits and definitely wouldn't pay the money.

Love that you are excited for us and thinking of us. :inlove:

Now comes the anxiety of how to get a good ticket. :nervous:

  3. ^well her tours are now the test of her commercial success, not albums. You're right, but a hit album helps the tour!

Reinvention did well because a lot of people missed out on DWT, plus it was the second tour after a long break so an under performing album didn't really matter. CT had a hit album behind it as we all know. And similarly S&S got the people that missed out on CT, plus bouyed by rave reviews of the CT and also the world wide smash 4 Minutes. MDNA had the best promo of all with the Super Bowl. In time we will see how Rebel Heart does without any of those factors which drove demand in previous tours (novelty of Madonna touring again, hit albums/singles, huge promotion), and how new factors such as over saturation in some markets, bad experiences from past tours such as waiting times, high ticket prices, etc effect commercial success.

  4. This is probably our last chance to see her again (or the first time in Australia for us younger fans :horn: ). Like that iconic bish in the 1993 Aussie news clip said,"she'll never come here again". And she's been right... so far.

So take my money Queen! Milk me dry!

BUT if she is thinking of repeat business, she has to make a good impression. That means reasonable prices for the shit seats, a not too late starting time, a fair amount of classics, and a great performance (which we know she'll bring).

  5. I think part of the problem is Madonna probably only remembers half her hits :). I say 2/3 hits and 1/3 RH ( must include Iconinc and Heart Break City :) . It would be nice if she sang Who's That Girl instead of La Isla, Bedtime Story instead of Human Nature, Dress you Up instead of Like AVirgin etc.

    Then she should...

  6. This will not please most people here but in my view there are some songs she should do every tour - Like a Prayer, Vogue, Holiday, Express Yourself, Like a Virgin, Into the Groove, Music and Hung up. Songs that everyone knows and casual fans adore. I went to the Girlie show and whenever a major hit was played, the audience went wild. Concerts need audience participation. To me, I could easily listen to lesser known songs but that is not what concerts are about - like it or not casual fans help fill the concerts. So would love lots and lots of huge hits with the rest being Rebel Heart songs.

    I'm of the same view.

People I talk to, one of their issues besides the price is they say I don't know her recent stuff and think the 80s and 90s classics won't be done. It's the same way I feel about going to a Prince concert.

  7. "So start saving your pennies now. People spend $300 on crazy things all the time, things like handbags. So work all year, scrape the money together, and come to my show. I'm worth it."

I definitely think it was a joke besides the bag part. I honestly think she believes $300 purchases are a doable thing for the average person. When you're a millionaire/billionaire you kind of lose touch on stuff like that.

It's like when the media ask politicians what's the price of a litre of petrol?

  8. Jacket, I know you mentioned the journal, but I think she uses that as a diary. I remember reading her interview in Time magazine where she said that everyday she would write in her journal about how lonely she was when she first come to New York. I hope she has kept up that habit as then it would make an incredibly accurate account of her life from her own perspective. Imagine the auto-biography she could then write.

Me too and those pre-fame days in New York are so fascinating.

She mentioned having one on Howard Stern

My memory was that was more for her song writing, but I'll have to revisit that. The Howard interview like a little entree, those personal stories she shared were great.
