  1. PEAKS IN FORMATS:

Formats where MADONNA has strong chances...

    POP - 60M

ok at least this means she has place to grow in POP. She's plateaued in terms of radio stations there and I assumed that she was pretty much done in POP and needed support from other markets to go up, which she wasn't going to get anyway.

  2. The only thing I cannot grasp is how the number one selling song in the country, a song that has nearly went Gold in 2 short weeks is gaining so slowly while every song around it is seeing HUGE increases.

You said it right my friend. Something is seriously wrong here. If I were her I would be like "Fuck it! Why should I work 10 times harder than others?". It's quite admirable she hasn't given up and comes stronger every time. GO MADONNA. YOU'RE STILL THE BEST!

  3. is the song growing more slowly than other songs in the top 10? it just seems that a song that's at #3 and has only been out for a few weeks should be growing more rapidly than a couple million impressions per week... :bruised:

It's all a matter of perspective. 4M is doing very well compared to Madonna's miserable radio past circa COADF. But it is growing very slowly compared to other songs in the Top-10. Still i'm optimistic by the end of the chart period it should be able to have a healthy competitive AI increase.

    From bks at Pulse:

Here's how airplay is shaping up after 2 days:

    No. 1 - Usher (+3.3 million)

    No. 2 - Mariah (+1.1 million)

    No. 3 - Ray J (+4.0 million)

    No. 4 - Jordin (+5.0 million)

    No. 7 - Lil Wayne (+7.6 million)

    No. 9 - Leona (+4.9 million)

    No. 30 - Madonna (+.7 million)

  4. I think we all can agree what a super sized flop 4M is by Madonna's standards. She could easily have a frozen or HU sized hit WORLDWIDE again with the right material but 4M isn't strong enough. Where was HU, Music, Frozen, even Sorry 23 days into their debut? AL was #1 on mediatraffic for 4 weeks. Let's see if 4M can reach one. Bottom line is, don't ever trade mediocre to superior because of famous names attached when choosing lead single.

Dude, get a clue! 4M is a great pop song and is already a worldwide smash - by anybody's standards. Madonna wanted an american hit this time around and she got it. Perhaps you wanted a Hung up vol. 2. You ain't getting it. Get over it!

  5. girl, I watched HU's early behavior in iTunes... it never shot up fast but stalled around #6 and #8...

it went up higher after that CSI exposure... TV promo is huge...

about magazines, just because YOU buy them, doesn't mean everyone does...

does everyone buy vanity fair or elle? i am sure you know the ones who buy those type of mags...

everyone knows that MADONNA's strong side is downloads... a little personal push in TV can drive it up...

Have you ever wondered why Leona is having a difficult time overtaking 4 Minutes despite the album release just when LEONA was about to overtake her? ELLEN played 4 Minutes early this week, and I am sure that kept it afloat at #1...

I am a big CSI Miami fan and I didn't even remember HU was played there. What made HU a big download hit was internet exposure. And being on the magazines gives you immediate internet exposure. You don't have to buy the magazines to know what's on the cover. The whole world knows she's on the cover of Interview, Elle, Vanity Fair, etc. not only because they see them on the newstands but because the pics are all over the net. It is a BIG exposure and helped a lot to create awareness of the new single and the new record.

And the promo concerts will definitely help. They will give tickets through radio and this almost guarantees big radio support and exposure.

Having said that she definitely needs to do some TV appearances if she wants a big first week for Hard Candy. I'm surprised she hasn't scheduled any yet.

  6. Some of you really suck ass. All you do it bitch and moan and you're never happy. You act like a bunch of crazy drama queens. Seriously get a life, your level of negativity is really pathetic.

Agreed! I maybe a newbie on this board but I have been a Madonna fan since Borderline and watched closely her career and her chart achievements. And that gives me the right to tell you this: Madonna is pulling a big success with 4 Minutes. Amazing sales so far and steadily increasing airplay. This is a great first single from an album. Much much better than the silly American Life or the irrelevant to US Hung Up. Just shut up and keep supporting her and the song.

  7. Hi everyone. I'm newbie here too. Thanks in advance for your warm welcomes.

I spent a lot of time the last couple of days reading all the information provided by the senior members here and things are rather simple. What is reported as AIs for 4M is the 7-day total and NOT how the songs moves daily. 4M's airplay did not increase by 3 Millions every day last week as many people, including me, thought. Its average AI last week was 3.5 M per day while this week it has moved so far up to 4 Millions per day. In fact on Monday it had its strongest day so far with 4.3 Millions and yesterday was another strong day with 3.92 Millions. So it's definitely not slowing down (although it doesn't jump as fast as TMB either) but we can't predict what it's 7-day total will be at the end of the period that counts towards the charts. Hopefully around 30M.

I hope this helps. And if I'm wrong with my numbers above please correct me.

I'm optimistic 4M will sell more digital downloads this week than TMB but certainly not enough to put it ahead of it on Billboard's Hot-100 next week. It seems the strategy is to keep 4M in the Top-10 as long as possible (which is realistic) - not make it No 1 (unrealistic).
