  1. Mariah is only 430K = 100% :dramatic:

    yesterday in Italy and Germany

today E=MC2 flooped in France as well

    #6

I think she will end up a little less than 500K. Probably 490K or so. If she sells less than that then Madonna should also sell less than the expected target of 350K.

  2. I really can't see it selling 250K... it's already sold how much????? A TON. So, I'm not sure how many people are left... that's been my concern from the get-go. I'm sure it'll see a boost, but I doubt it will see anything close to 250k :dramatic:

yeah, by the album relese week it will have sold more than 1 million. How the hell are we expecting it to pull 250K more in just a week? .. but i'm keeping my fingers crossed ... :dramatic:

  3. Vanity might be rude, but her comments are not racist, i truly believe that's the reality with music industry

Look at Vanity's signature under her commens. She/he is a racist of the worst kind. Add to that her rudeness and you get a horrible individual.

And my original post was solely about the Billboard rules as rules - not if they are fair or not.

In addition, you should all shut the fuck up about the music industry today because you don't know what you're talking about. The biggest cultural movement of the last 10 years is hip-hop and the Billboard charts reflect exactly that. Now if some technicalities allow Mariah to have more No 1's than Madonna, in the grand scheme of things IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL and it doesn't give the right to anyone to make racial hatefull comments.

  4. Lets face it none of us are really experts, some of us know a lot because we follow trends and stats but we are not experts. Can she get to number one, sure but everyone will have their own opinion based on hopes and forecasts.

I think the right way to put it is that none of us can really predict if the sales & AIs will go high enough within the next couple of weeks to get her at No 1. The Billboard rules are simple and we all can be chart experts. But the market changes pretty often and there is not enough statistical evidence to support an accurate prediction.

My guess is that most likely will not go to No 1 but it has a chance.

  5. thats seriously the true thing we have going on here (refer to the BB #3 placement). Seems with 4M, MANY hardcore fans (many of whom I know and talked too) are not liking the song, yet she is appealing to the Take A Bow era record buyers. A song which is reeling in minor, non fanatical/ hardcore M fans lol.

Same experience here. Hard-core fans that I know and talked to seem not excited! Yet the song is selling ... This is quite interesting. Let's see how it'll unfold.

  6. I want to be proven wrong that the only reason she got there is because of T&T... * sigh * :(

so what??? She's got nothing to prove. She's paid her dues. she's released some of the most memorable pop songs of the last 25 years. If she wants to release a gimmick with T&T let it be. GET ANOTHER #1 MADONNA. YOU DESERVE IT!

  7. 350K

    No 1

btw, COADF didn't have a big radio hit but it had lot of good buzz and got MUCH better reviews than HC. And at least here in New York you could hear it EVERYWHERE the first month. Any place you went, gay or straight trendy, every other song they were playing was from confessions. That certainly was NOT the case with American Life.

So I think HC doesn't have as good buzz as COADF but has a decent radio hit. This will drive first week sales to about the same as COADF.

  8. I guess sales will increase with promo (and not only a concert in big apple for hardcore fans, drop vacuum and move your ass girl!!)

The concert in New York is NOT for hard code fans. It's an industry event that will be broadcasted live from the internet. Most of the tickets will go to radio stations so they play her song and if a few tickets are left they will be given to hard code fans/losers waiting outside on a first-come first-server basis ...

  9. That's because they SUCK. I got 4 of them... and will never listen to them. NEVER! :dramatic:

4M is hard to remix because of its hip-hop tempo and lack of a big hook to base the remix on ...

Still Peter Saves Paris is a good mix, I think. Give it another listen or two and you'll realize the great job Peter Rauhofer did with the song.

  10. in a way, i'll be kind of glad if 4M doesn't make it to #1 (but just a little bit). i just don't think it's that great of a song... and just doesn't deserve to be in the same category as Like A Prayer, Vogue and Live To Tell. hopefully, a better song by madonna will make it to #1... and we can all be proud. :bruised:

i think it's preposterous for a Madonna fan to say that one of her songs that is top 3 already and is fighting for the No 1 doesn't deserve to be No 1.

As it was mentioned already put things into context. It deserves to be No 1 as much as any other song in the Top 10 currently.

  11. Why? Because that is what makes her so special as a pop artist.

So we all agree this is trend following. Great.

Apparently you didn't read all of my post.

But you are certainly entitled to your opinion and I totally respect the fact that you don't like 4M.

However, keep in mind there was nothing trend setting about Hung Up or the entire COADF record. Still I thought it was a great record, I enjoyed thoroughly and I supported it as much as I could because, after all, I love Madonna and I love what she does whether she sets trends or not.

  12. That clearly isn't the tone of my post. Where is the Madonna sound on 4M? The difference is that working with Stuart Price and previously Mirwhais was her showing she was on the trend.

Timbaland and Timberlake are her following a trend set my loads before her, namely Nelly Furtado.

The "cop out" is this fact only, not because she is trying to sell records as that is what she has always tried to do.

Sorry to break your bubble but with Stuart Price she was just following the trend of modern disco that was (and still is) very popular in Europe way before COAD. With Mirwais, well, even her core fans failed to see how amazing album American Life was (best lyrics and best melodies of her career) and that was partly her fault because the first single was really dreafull imo. That single started her problems with the american radio from which she hasn't recovered yet.

4M is a COLLABORATION. Madonna, Timbaland and Justin, they all bring something to the table. It's a great single and a great video. Why does she always have to start trends? You're just too bought on what her PR machines tells you that she starts trends when perhaps she doesn't. The last time you could say she started a trend was with Ray of Light but even by that time electronica was a pretty popular music genre.

What Madonna does is make great pop records and sell millions of copies. 4M is no exception.

  13. So with one more day to go:

    No. 1 - Usher (+8.7 million) ====> 137M

    No. 2 - Mariah (+4.2 million) ====> 123M

    No. 9 - Leona (+12.4 million) ====> 82M

    No. 28 - Madonna (+2.1 million) ====> 39.5M

I don't know these three, can some chart expert fill this in?

    No. 3 - Ray J (+10.8 million)

    No. 4 - Jordin (+15.3 million)

    No. 7 - Lil Wayne (+20.7 million)

if MADONNA sells around 200k, USHER only needs to sell 105k, MARIAH with 120M to push MADONNA down the HOT100...

LEONA will be #1 for sure...

    it shaping up to be:

    1. Bleeding Love

    2. No Air

    3. Lollipop

    4. 4 Minutes

    5. Love In This Club

    6. Touch My Body

2-3 might interchange, as well as 4,5 & 6 with each other

... ghhh ... I now fear 4M will be at No 6 as Usher and Mariah have amazing airplays and still strong sales ... oh well, it seems 4M can use every single download, stream, and play on the radio to fight against ALL the other songs in the top-10.

  14. The performance in America underlines the fact ONLY that she copped out in order to get a hit.

So what if she did???? I mean, enough already. She did the same thing with Hung Up and the ABBA sample and it worked wonders for her outside US. Don't tell me that Hung Up was a cutting edge record. It was a pop song with all the right gimmicks to become a huge hit. Madonna is a mainstream artist and she will always do whatever she can do to sell millions of records. You're behaving as if she was an underground artist and she's now sold out. Please!

  15. Which are the best remixes? I am hoping for a 'Confessions' esque remix of 4 Minutes.....

    something discoey..

Just buy all the fucking remixes AND the edits. They are all great and for different tastes! Junkie XL & Bob Sinclair are more euro and discoey, Tracy Young's is housy, Peter's electro .. Too bad they left out Peter Rauhofer's New York mix as it is the best but ... whatever, just BUY THEM!

  16. but she hasn't put a foot in America yet (R&R Hall of Fame is another thing)

well, she's coming for the New York concert on the 30th. The three concerts in NY, London and Paris will be broadcasted and give her exposure to millions all over the world. Her team uses the internet to the maximum. It is a very efficient promo strategy. It should give her big sales worldwide for Hard Candy and 4M. And if the Billboard No 1 doesn't come, well, it's not the end of the world. Let Mariah have her 120 No 1s with variations of the same song. Who cares?

alright let's go back to iTunes now. What's that shit that saw on Pulse with Bye Bye No 1, Bleeding Love No 2 and 4 Minutes No 3??? I guess some Mariah zombie had too much time on his hands and created the picture.

  17. Madonna is to blame because not doing promo, ok.

Sorry but Madonna's New York concert requires much more effort than all Mariah's TV appearances. Honestly, Mariah's promo is great but it's a total sell out. And why should Madonna do the same? If an artist doesn't do Oprah and American Idol does it mean they don't put a lot effort in promoting? No! Her promo effort is already huge. She did those deals with Sunsilk, Vodafone and Verizon. She will do three promo concerts around the world and I'm almost sure she will do Ellen while she's in US. Add to these all the radio interviews and you'll realize she's doing tons of promo!

  18. The remixes that will be released tomorrow are already posted on Amazon downloads with samples . They extended versions can only be purchased individually -- each one is a separate "album." The edits can be purchased in bulk or separately.

So this is what's coming out tomorrow:

    4 Minutes Remixes

    - Edit 3:11

    - Peter Saves Paris Edit 4:49

    - Bob Sinclair Space Funk Edit 3:23

    - Junkie XL Dirty Dub Edit 4:05

And each of these is a separate album:

    4 Minutes - Rebirth Remix 7:55

4 Minutes - Bob Sinclair Space Funk Remix 5:39

4 Minutes - Tracy Young House Mix 7:54

    4 Minutes - Junkie XL Remix 6:13

4 Minutes - Peter Saves Paris Mix 8:52

4 Minutes - Junkie XL Dirty Dub 4:51

Shit! Where's the Peter Saves New York mix (which is the best IMO)? Let's wait. Perhaps we'll see more on iTunes tomorrow. Regardless, I'm defnitely buying all the extended mixes from iTunes and/or Amazon. Ok, maybe I'll buy the edits too  separately.

  19. Could these remixes add 50k downloads for Madonna?

I doubt but eitherway there are not enough statistics to support any kind of prediction. Reviewing data from the Hung Up era will not help since things wih digital market have already changed a lot since then. We'll know the impact at the end of the chart period ...

  20. Bye bye is coming, Take a bow will climb as fast as Don't stop is falling down etc. We have 2 weeks to make 4 minutes #1.

I just heard Bye Bye and I'll be in awe if it goes to No 1. And I know that records are meant to be broken but somebody needs to stop Mariah from having these "empty" No 1's. Although eventually I think they'll work as boomerang to her and burn her out once and for all ...

  21. If the number of spins increases but the AI increase rate is dropping it means they don't play it during peak hours when most of people listen to radio. Am I getting this AI statistic correctly? And if yes, do we have any source to find out what big markets moved the songs from rotation during prime time to, say, after midnight?
