  1. As folks here have pointed out she didn't display her usual more cheerful and tongue-in-cheek kind of way..she was sort of guarded, also on stage. Perhaps this hashtag thing has taken a toll on her.

Anyway, I thought the performance was great and just right for the occasion.

  2. I'm sorry but you seem to be struggling to read what I'm saying. You tried to discredit her intention with the showing of the film, so stop pretending otherwise because it's in this thread in black and white. The film is not an art film. She never called it that. The film is drawing attention to something with less distraction than a music video or tour. It's very plain, very straight forward and transparent. Somebody else has answered a possibility of why the vans were there (in London the vans were hired vans). I also posted the obvious statement that Madonnas DOESN'T CONTROL EVERYTHING. She is a part of Live nation. She doesn't own it.

How good you know about my intentions.

Of course she had an artistic intention with the video. Her project is even called Art for freedom. The tone of the film is definitely not an "informations film".

Neither you nor I have one bit of clue on how things are run at Live Nation connected to this project.

  3. I am not getting upset or sensitive. I am not sensitive in the slightest. Like you, I am expressing my opinion. Maybe the main difference between us is the inspiration we feel to form an opinion. It's clear that Madonna has paid for this and had help from her friends. That's why it's probably taken so long (well, according to whinging fans it did). She's not SELLING anything. She's PAYING for something. Trying to reverse that intention as being 'cheap' as you put it is both ill informed and puerile. Couldn't you maybe discuss the implications of a worldwide sharing platform where people can present new ideas and support people less fortunate themselves? Couldn't you present your feelings on the things Madonna is saying need attention in her dialogue? I mean, I am genuinely confused as to what you get it of your insinuation that this is a cheap advertising stunt. Madonna could spend five minutes being interviewed and it would get worldwide attention yet you think she chose to spend time, money and energy making a film which is being presented to A MINIMAL AUDIENCE in order to promote a gym? GET REAL.

She obviously did, why would there be trucks with the gym otherwise?

I understand she needs to bring the money for this project from somewhere. And there are millions of ways of doing just that.

Where in my text have I accused her whole intention as being "cheap"? The only thing I stated was that the HC trucks in Berlin, coupled with her showing an art film, felt a little bit cheap to me. It has nothing to do with her intentions. GET REAL.

  4. It didn't where I was. Where are you? There is no mention of ANYTHING HC gym related in the film clip or the communication related to SP. Stop trying to be a smartarse with the sorry intention of discrediting somebody who is conscious enough to make effort into giving something back. It's really, really wasteful and negative.

The Berlin clip was what I saw. I have no comment on the video yet, haven't seen it in total yet. But when I saw the Hard Candy trucks I just found that a bit cheap. That's how I feel and I have the right to express that even though you are getting upset and sensitive about it.

He's right, though. It was happening in Berlin, HC trucks were driving around for promo at the very same time the film was shown.

  5. I know. It was clearly designed to be 'intimate' and unfortunately Madonna couldn't put this everywhere. I'm sure everybody who was there had at least some passion for the cause and it's that passion she wants to raise. I think it's quite intentional that it's not a media sensation yet. In her dialogue she even says the famous quote 'the revolution will not be televised' (I had it on a tee) and she also said it will not be available for download. What she means by that is THIS IS NOT A PRODUCT. It's a message direct from Madonna's heart to you which makes it all the more sad that people are already talking exposure etc. I'm sure soon people will be discussing its success on 164252772525262725 different charts. Please, spare me the ignorance.

Yeah I didn't actually notice him then but I see him around a lot so he must live close by.

Is this why a Hard Candy fitness truck just happened to pass by the event?

  6. CJC’s thread about how complete the eras were inspired me to delineate how (in my opinion) M’s previous eras lasted. Primarily, I think the eras were not dictated solely by the music/videos but by an overall direction in her career. This is how I delineate and describe her eras (or should we call 'evolutions'):

THE ARTISTE MADONNA - The Italian Hippie/Rebel Catholic/Divorcee/Artiste (ARTPOP...heheh) Era - "As close as pop music comes to art" sound, starts the era as a Broadway actress with brown hair and ends with a Louise Brooks inspired bob, separates from Sean Penn and ultimately divorces him, the style is starker and more dramatic, starts wearing all black more often, the look is more natural and less glamorous than previously, while previously controversy seemed to follow her, now she seems to purposely look for it.

Begins: May 1988 - Speed the Plow premieres on Broadway and soon after Madonna appears with Sandra Bernhard on Letterman (and insinuates being bisexual).

Ends: January 1990 – Keep It Together is released as the last single from LAP without Vogue, its intended B-Side track.

THE SUPERSTAR MADONNA – The Ambitious/Controversial/Biggest Star In The World Era – Blonde and in charge, the style is more androgynous with suits and pants but glamorous (very Marlene Dietrich and Garbo-esque), then there’s pointy bras and corsets, the hair is golden blonde and permed, body is muscular, she seems to always wear fishnets.

Begins: March 1990 – Vogue and its video premiere

Ends: June 1991 – In an interview for Rolling Stones, Madonna introduces the nickname “Dita” and a photo-shoot with Steve Meisel that evokes the later released SEX book. Later that summer she started to shoot A League of their Own.

Duration: 1 year and 3 months

Albums: one studio album/inspired by the movie and one greatest hits compilation

    Singles: 4 (US), 4 (UK)

Iconic Moments: EVERYTHING. Vogue video, BAT and the Pope, JML video and controversy, TOD documentary, TOD premieres in Cannes, SOL performance at the Oscars, M and MJ.

Okay, this took more time to write then I imagined so I will finish it later.
