The only thing that I dont like about HC (aside from the awful cover) is her voice on the Timbaland tracks. She sounds so nasally and halfhearted.

Confessions is a flat-out celebration of dance culture. And a fucking amazing one at that: well written, sharply produced, insatiable, catchy and filled with drama. It is as cinematic as her records have come.

Having said that, that's no slight on Hard Candy, which is thoroughly enjoyable and contains, yes, some of her best writing. There's not a song I skip. And many of the unreleased tracks are the best of her career -- so good in fact, one could argue the case of it deserving its own deluxe edition.

I do this every year alas, because I have yet to achieve independent wealth.

Every June, MadonnaNation goes through a renewal process that is quite financially paralyzing. In essence, the server costs a one-year renewal (domain included) of $150, then goes into a monthly fee after that of $30-something in order to handle the traffic load (we are on a VPS -- look it up).

In different circumstances I would absorb this all anyway, but again, i'm not wealthy yet. So consider this my standing on the street corner pan-handling for donations from you all.

I think we are at the point where single performance doesn't matter to her (as displayed by the BIM performance last night instead of GT), but as tools to push the album they remain a necessity.

Charting or not, keeping music out there continues to tell the public that she has a great new record out, and THAT is what she wants to sell.
