  1. RE: in regards to this whole Milo bullshit:

A strategy demagogues have used for over a century is to foment unrest and violence, and then blame people who have criticized them for creating the unrest – and use their alleged complicity as a means of reducing their autonomy and building up the demagogue’s power.

Trump did it today, blaming the University of California at Berkeley for denying Milo Yiannopoulos (of Breitbart News) the right to free speech – when in fact the University opened its biggest and most accessible auditorium to that hatemonger. And there’s growing evidence that the agitators who caused police to cancel the speech may have been connected to right-wing groups -- such as those spawned by Yiannopoulos himself – that intended to create an incident that would give Trump and his surrogates a justification to blame the University, the media, the left, and their other targets.

So Trump threatens to withhold federal funds from Berkeley (as if he had the despotic power to do this).

Trump “counselor” Kellyanne Conway blames “the media” – her favorite target. “What’s going on out there is what’s going on all across the country,” Conway, said. The protesters “have got media cameras following them; they give interviews.”

And Yiannopoulos blames his target -- “the Left.” “One thing I do know for sure: The Left is absolutely terrified of free speech and will do literally anything to shut it down,” he wrote.

It’s all right out of the despot’s playbook. Know your history.

  2. Meanwhile, in the real world:

    Quote

Today, Trump cut sanctions against Russian intelligence agencies. Russia knew about it before Congress. His surrogates are trying to conjure a war with Iran, a trade war with Mexico and a confrontation with China. They are insulting our allies. With few exceptions, barely a peep from Congress.

Today, Congress repealed bills that prevent coal from being dumped in rivers and prevent mentally ill people from buying guns. They forwarded a bill designed to destroy unions across the United States. Not a peep from the president who promised to "drain the swamp."

The two are working together to steal a Supreme Court seat, ram through the most hostile cabinet in history and destroy the last parliamentary rules of in Congress in order to stifle opposition.

The GOP and the quisling president are working in tandem to destroy America. Congress is destroying the domestic security of average Americans. The Republican party is compromised by the wealthiest Americans who want to destroy civil society in a myopic effort to cut their taxes. Trump is working to destroy America's national security in devotion to Russia, which has offered to make him and his cabal rich and powerful. In return, Trump is clearing the way for Russia to cause the collapse of the Western alliance and rebuild its empire in Eastern Europe. The actors involved are willing to risk a human civilization ending nuclear war in order to bring it about.

I wish this was as far fetched as it sounds. But these conclusions are inescapable as the unfolding new political situation confirms all of our worst fears, and at a much more frantic clip than many had feared. At this rate, we really cannot wait for the 2018 elections. Only a determined mass uprising will stop this now. We The People hold our fate in our hands more than at any time in our lives. We need relentless, broad, unified, fierce action. The clock to Armageddon is ticking.

But by all means, let's wage a war about how "political correctness" is the reason EVERYTHING bad is happening in the world, and as a result we must OVERCOMPENSATE by being purposely outgoing on any inflammatory and provocative thing we can say.

Because we all know how THAT turns out....

Give me a colossal break with the censorship crap.  This isn't the Washington Post. Unless, he made a personal attack on someone, or divulged personal information, his posts shouldn't have been deleted.

Oh i'm sorry, did you write the rules of MadonnaNation? My mistake. Allow me to go get a red pen and apply some edits.

You're the one who STARTED this "censhorship crap" honey. The fact of the matter is posters like you are always harping about their "rights" being infringed when they are on the WRONG side of the moderator criteria.

I don't give a shit about your politics. What I DO give a shit about is one's inability to KNOW THEIR AUDIENCE. A lot of people are upset and angry and concerned right now, so if that means cutting out a few posts by those who purposely TROLL to rub salt in unnecessary wounds and perhaps KEEP a few people from leaving the board altogether (of which some already have over this), then OH WELL.

Well, I'll never know, will I?  His posts were deleted before I got the chance to read them.  So, I can't make an objective decision on whether he "defended" him or not.

Last I checked, that was known as censorship.

Last I checked, a message board is not a democracy.

Spare me this bullshit "censorship" malarky that is always touted by the ones whose trolling gets curbed by the moderators. Trolling is trolling.

  5. Reason numero UNO that Milo will NEVER be defendable to a self-respecting gay man:

Never feel bad for mocking a transgender person.  It is our job to point out their absurdity, to not make the problem worse by pretending they are normal. Much like fat-shaming, if our mockery drives them to get the help they need, we may save their life.

    FUCK you, Milo.

I don't see any reason to be nasty toward me.

Who said I was being nasty, my dear? Just calling it out like I see it. But I thought you said "difference of opinion is fine."

I honestly think the world of you, even though we vehemently disagree on just about everything on this subject. But if it's really at a point where you feel I'm being nasty towards you, I'll gladly bow out.

  7. Might I add that keeping gay rights is hardly a referendum to lavishly praise the man borderlining fellatio. Does no one even consider any of the other shit that he's already doing? How is he worthy of a pass? We are constantly being told that gay rights is not the only issue in the world and yet when we're not singing praises for keeping them and focused on others, suddenly we are hypocrites.

Like Madonna, people only focus on the SHIT. They always leave out her work with Malawi or orphans or building schools and hospitals.

If he had REMOVED these rights there would be 20 pages on it every 5 seconds.

This utter hypocrisy is THE REASON someone like Trump is in the White House and if it continues, expect EIGHT not FOUR years.

Yeah. Ok Pud. Keep telling yourself that people being angry is not justified if that makes you feel better.

When you can get through an entire day without referencing your hate for Lady Gaga, maybe you can school the rest of us on having hatred for Donald Trump who is actually affecting public policy. Until then I think I will stick with what I believe in, thank you.

I don't reference Obama and Clinton to justify Trumps actions now , but to point out the glaring double standard.

Trump wants border enforcement = RACIST!

Former Democratic admins saying they want border controls = *crickets *

Bombing the living shit out of Muslim countries throughout the Middle East and selling them weapons = silence

Restricted entry for several countries because of terrorism issues = Racist

Oh I'm sorry, so your warrior crusade to expose hypocrisy amongst all the politicians is somehow supposed to be lauded as noble in a moment when there are people being detained at airports for prevented re-entry altogether? Oh how utterly TIMELY of you.

I'm just leaving this right here. Though I'm guessing, like the man you voted for, it will be disregarded by a neurotic need to defend the vote you just threw away.

No, Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter didn't do the same thing as Donald Trump's Muslim ban

Supporters of the President's unprecedented Muslim ban are screaming hypocrisy. But there are some important differences with what previous Presidents have done

Donald Trump supporters are asking why everyone's all mad about his unprecedented Muslim ban - because Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter both did the same thing.

    Except they didn't.

While it's true both Presidents put restrictions on visas during their respective presidencies, there's a world of difference between what they did and what Donald Trump is doing now.

But it hasn't stopped a string of people claiming previous leaders did the same thing and nobody called them fascists.

Here's a list of the similarities - and a much longer list of differences between the controls Obama used in 2011 and Carter used in 1979.

WHAT DONALD TRUMP IS DOING (2017)
Ban entry to the US for people born in seven majority Muslim countries - Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen - including holders of legal green cards and visas - for 90 days
Suspending the Syrian refugee plan indefinitely
Suspending entire refugee plan for 120 days
Bans entry to the US for dual-nationality passport holders - meaning citizens of the above countries who also hold, for example, a British passport, are also banned for 90 days.
    Prioritise Christian refugees over Muslims
    Capped refugee total to 50,000
Did it out of the blue. Trump came up with his Muslim ban following the Orlando nightclub shooting, an attack committed not by refugees or migrants, but by a US citizen who was born in New York.
Of all the fatal terror attacks carried out on US soil since 9/11, exactly zero have been committed by immigrants from the seven majority Muslim countries targeted by the ban

    WHAT BARACK OBAMA DID (2011)
Paused approvals of refugee applications from Iraq for a period of six months after two Iraqi al-Qaeda terrorists were discovered living as refugees in Kentucky.

    What he didn't do
Base it on religion. Obama's order - which was done with very little fanfare - selected Iraqi nationals based on geography and a specific event, not religion.
Do it out of the blue. It was done in response to a specific event, and to allow FBI agents enough to gather fingerprints from captured roadside bombs, which they used to toughen their refugee screening process

    What Jimmy Carter did (1979)
Placed sanctions on Iran after they held 52 American diplomats hostage for 444 days
The sanctions included a block on all future visas issued to Iranian citizens

    What he didn't do
Base it on religion. The block was targeted at Iranian nationals, not Muslims
Do it out of the blue. Carter's sanctions were the culmination of a long-running escalation of tensions between the US and Iran.

Why do trump supporters have to rebuttal with things Obama done every time trump does something horrible? Are we 12 or something around here? Jesus

It's selective reasoning - defer to the past so you can validate or neutralize what's going on in the present. Of course every supporter of a new president does it, but now it's just pathetic. These are the same people, ironically, who all said we had our heads up our ass about Hillary.
