  1. DJ Irene Remix (4:11)
    Nick Bertossi Club Mix (7:00)

new US mixes just promo'd out -- not technically "released" in the official sense, but what I think is that the US promoter/A&R guy is hoping this one final "push" of new mixes will be enough to lift the single to #1 on next week's Billboard club chart, since this week it was held off from the top-spot by Andy Grammer "Honey I'm Good" disappointingly

  2. Do you know any other official promo CDs there are of this and is this the exact same one as the one that the designer won? Just checking! I'm just confused because the cover is in low megapixel quality :/

I'm not sure what others are out there - I do see plenty of fakes and fan-made bootleg CD-R's on eBay though :\ I'm not sure about the front cover art or its details....the less I look at that ghastly design the better :p

  3. Yeah i dont see madonna producing Hold Tight alone - seems very strange to me. Not that i dont think she could, but just that i dont think she's ever wanted to be a lone producer. she's all about collaboration.

What i found really interesting about hold tight was this:

Additional recording in The Ritz (Moscow), Grand Marina Hotel (Barcelona), Patriot Studios (Denver, CO/Venice, CA)

Why all these extra weird locations? Made me wonder if the initial demo was Madonna's and was recorded while on tour or something?

This kind of scattered, helter-skelter approach to song production makes me think back to the days where an entire album (not just a song) could be recorded in 1-2 days. Granted this was decades ago *lol* But they'd book the studio time, get a band together, come up with the songs right on the spot there sometimes, and lay down all the tracks in just a few takes, at a budget of just a few grand, not millions. Obviously, at artist like Madonna isn't capable of such simplicity - I don't think anyone is anymore. But just some food for thought :p

"Axwell wrote the track for 'Rain On Me'. All these guys who write music tracks consider themselves to be producers but I do not. They do have a certain skill, but I don't consider what they do to be real production. Sometimes they make these Frankenstein cut-and-pastes, and once you introduce a real singer, it becomes flat; there's nothing left in the track for them to latch on to. You might as well not have the voice there. The problem with some of these producers who write and program and mix is that they get so tied into their gadgets, and don't think about what a real record sounds like anymore."

  4. I got one from THRILL, you can see it on my instagram page: instagram.com/mcollect

It's a CD-R this time. I've been checking ebay regularly for weeks, have only seen one pop up so far that sold a few days ago for $400, and the seller actually used my picture of the disc that I had also posted on facebook, which I wasn't happy about. But their listing ended quickly so I just let it go.

I've tried quite a few online (free) watermarking tools, for pictures, and the best & easiest one by far is this: http://www.picturetopeople.org/image_utilities/watermark/online_digital_watermark_text.html -- I've used it many times on eBay auctions for new and/or rare CD's where I don't want anyone else stealing my images *lol*

It was this auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MADONNA-GHOSTTOWN-GHOST-TOWN-THE-REMIXES-MIKE-CRUZ-OFFER-NISSIM-/121667464623 right? The asking price was $499.99 but I wonder what the offer was that he accepted? I love his flippant attitude in the description *lol* It sounds like he knows his stuff, and doesn't care how arrogant he comes off :p

Here's pics of the item I just scanned, in case people are curious. Oh and if anyone is gonna message me wanting to buy it, serious offers only please! (and by that I mean in the high three-figures). The few DJ's lucky enough to get one of these CD's are mostly hanging on to them, so they'll be very very scarce as far as collectors items go.

nice! did you win a contest, or is he a friend of yours? as luck would have it, I just received one copy today myself from a fellow DJ, and I'll probably put it up on eBay tomorrow (unless of course anyone reading this board wants to private message me an offer)

  6. Good news and bad news. There is actually a US promo CD single for "Ghosttown" with 12 tracks (including the 2 previous Tidal exclusives) however it was only mailed to Billboard reporters, and I'm told just 300 copies were printed. They're literally shipping only ONE copy to each DJ on the BB panel, which will make this an extremely expensive collectors item, if any even turn up on eBay.

I'm replying to my own info here *lol* Has anyone actually seen what this US promo CD single looks like or have any .jpg scans of it? I'm checking Discogs & eBay and neither one has it (a lot of fan-made bootleg discs are cluttering up the marketplace though I see, yuck). I have yet to even confirm what order the tracklisting is in, or if it's a silver-backed CD like "Living For Love" or just a limited-pressing CD-R like many promos are nowadays. Anyone have any pictures of this supposed item? :p

  7. Why can't CD's like this be made available to fans through her website? Fan's are paying a ridiculous £125+ for this bloody CD. Why not print a couple of thousand and put them up for sale??? There's so much money to be made and we all know how much M and her team love it..........Fans are even resorting to buying fake Chinese Maxi-Singles??

  8. New mix uploaded! Razor N Guido!!!!! damn... is this the first time sice their Rain mix?

It is! I actually never thought I'd see the day of R-n-G remixing a Madonnan song officially, after the whole Rain debacle. There was a LOT of drama behind that particular remix, from what I remember. So much so that Peter Osback (aka Razor) and Guido Osario were pretty much banned from remixing any artists on Maverick Records, and that maybe extended to WB as well? They got the acapella stems for "Rain" and created this dark dubby 14-min long mix called the "Happy Birthday Junior Remix" to surprise Jr. Vasquez at a NYC event somewhere. Madonna heard about it and she was not happy, so that was pretty much their undoing *lol* Glad to see them back, even if their remix is lacking, like most of the others.

  9. Ugh really miss maxi single CDs with multiple remixes and even an unreleased tracks, such as, history on jump. They are awesome for collectors even though will probably become obsolete soon. Had to pay fifteen american dollars for GGW CD that was shipped from Rome. Was able to get GMAYL for a couple of US dollars because my sister got it for me in UK. Guess need to purchase LFL or GT before the prices skyrocket and won't be worth it.

A couple new official remixes were just promo'd out to US Billboard DJ's just in time for weekend gigs:

    S-Man Remix (6:40)

DJ Yiannis String Intro Mix (1:40)

The latter is pretty much a "teaser" track for his full-length mix which I hope will be released soon (along with Mike Rizzo's brilliant remix). I'm thinking the S-Man remix was done by Roger Sanchez, who's remixed Madonna once or twice in the past, unofficially. Here too, his remix's tempo is WAY too slow, and poor Madge's vocals sound so dragging and tired.

But why May 12th???? When did the video come out again?? Why would anyone give more of a shit about some remixes 2 weeks from now after they've gone live through YouTube and DJ Blogs are offering them up to download for free????How can delaying them help anything.....it's all so bloody confusing?!??

I understand there's no money in buying music anymore blah blah blah.....but M has such a large collecting fan-base I'm just amazed by how this market is no being exploited?!?

They could even press up 5,000 limited-edition CD-R singles with just a basic stickered tracklisting & cardboard sleeve, and throw 'em up for sale on madonna.com for $20 or whatever, just so that hard-core fans could feel like they're SUPPORTING their girl, and it would earn the label an instant $100,000 bucks with very little effort or cost. What could possibly be preventing them from doing this?

FINALLY!!!! Now this is how it's done :) At 136 BPM, Madonna sounds SO much more natural than that slow 128 BPM from the other remixers. God bless people like Mike Rizzo, a remixer who is never afraid to choose a tempo for his club remixes that actually FITS the song being sung! Instead of being stuck in the 128.0 BPM "box" like so many other remixers these days. When the original song's tempo is 80 BPM or whatever Ghosttown is, slowing down the vocals to anything under 135 BPM is simply ludicrous.

M has a pretty consistent history of AMAZING remixes throughout her career, but there has been some decline in quality.

Fans complained about LFL, but there are a couple I felt that were very good.

Hope GT and any upcoming singles get at least a couple of high quality remixes. There will always be at least a couple that suck.

A big reason for the "quantity over quality" approach to Madonna's remixes lately has been the fact that a label exec (former A&R Remix Coordinator at Warner Bros) left there years ago to form his own promotions company, and he now manages several remixers (like Dirty Pop, Thrill, etc). Madonna's management still hires Orlando to procure remixes for her songs.

  13. I would love a slow piano version of this song. Not to get too Adele-y, but just listening to instrumental piano covers on YouTube you can hear the song is so beautiful that way. Of course, we'll get all dance mixes...but I'd love even a fan made remix with just piano. :inlove:

Somebody get me the acapella & I'll make one myself :-D

  14. From a technical standpoint, the song won't be easy to remix....at 80 BPM it's kind of in that "mid-tempo danger zone" where if the remixers slow down the vocals to club-speed it'll make her sound sleepy & dragging, but if they speed up the vox she'll sound unnaturally fast and chipmunky. Either way, I think Dirty Pop & Joe T. Vanelli are doing remixes, so we'll see how they turn out I guess....
