justinleest Posted September 30 Posted September 30 If that was the edit from the live version, I truly think we would have seen a different response from the general public. The people in the audience said the performance was amazing. Quote

FreeMySoul Posted September 30 Posted September 30 1 hour ago, ThomasW said: The video edit is FIRE!! Yup. Madonna was perfectly in step and focused the broadcast version made her look off step but the whole performance was pure Madonna. A huge production with lots of moving parts that sometimes is too much to capture for a live tv performance. M still appeared a bit in her head and stiff early on but she did great. Quote
Who Is That Girl? Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Brilliant... the night edit was subpar based on this. Being a M fan is akin to bipolar. I have watched over two days a narrative that started out fantastic post performance meander around like a race track. I'm still trying to place where the issue is aside from ageism based on the award collection and clothing choice. This is a production high up there with anything she has ever done. She is the same woman from three months ago giving everything and being universally praised for Times Square. See bipolar. That said, I doubt she will ever do an event performance again. It's not worth the hurt and betrayal she must feel at times. Quote

Everything is cohesive, no random camera men backs or bizarre zoom outs, real proper closeups of Madonna and dancers choreography and we can see whats going on the screens as well (great thumbnail as well) Send This to those Karens of the world, so glad its on Spotify for all to see forever Quote

domyeyebrows Posted September 30 Posted September 30 OH EM GEE the difference a good edit makes! She must have been furious at that original one that went out. This is fabulous. Quote

This is fabulous. She would have been livid. It was an incredibly intricate performance and I’ve never directed a live tv broadcast - which just be a huge juggling act - but the original missed so much. Hope the YouTube upload gets millions of views. It’s already at something like 180k. Quote

Now probably will be silence from her until the Grammy nominations. btw this has nothing to do with anything but I bought the pink confessions veil from her site so she better tour otherwise I’ll need to find another use for it. Shut Your Mouth Posted September 30 Author Posted September 30 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19qiQP3yk3/?mibextid=wwXIfr Peter Stickles, a longtime Madonna fan in L.A., was lucky enough to score tickets to the MTV VMAs (and to win an Absolut prize pack on the same day, but I digress). Here are his thoughts on the unforgettable evening ... “As we were ushered onto the red carpet we actually ran into the black-costumed “camera” dancers and the white “veiled” dancers. I immediately knew they were M’s “We took out seat pretty early just to get settled. A crew member came out early to give instructions to the people in the pit (keep your hands up when you clap, its good for the camera, etc) - he then talked about how a table would be coming out and moving around the stage, so keep your hands to yourself at that point (I think they may have even tested out the table) “That massive inflatable moon-man was just breathtaking. I haven’t seen anything quite like it. “The show itself was pretty much like you saw on tv. I was seated next to Jojo (thank god her handler told me who show was otherwise I would have no idea) and she was a huge M fan. So we talked about her before the show started (we were high-fiving each other thru-out) “Baby Spice sat next to me after she gave M her award. I struck up an convo saying how lucky she was to have met her. She told me the story about their FIRST meeting! She seemed like a true fan. “I have never experienced the kind of fandom like when Taylor Swift entered the room. The place just exploded. “I couldn’t believe how they made that small grassy area (for the vag laser dancers) look so big for tv! That area was so small - about the size of 4 or five parking spaces. “Just a really fun night. Many people I recongnized. Many more I did NOT lol.” #madonna #vmas #danceteria #confessionsII #encyclopediamadonnica Quote

Lolo Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Ok, I think I prefer the aired version for the BYL part. And the edited version for Danceteria. I think the original version had more energy for BYL, I can put my finger on it, but the edit looks so stiff. Quote
Kalabanshe Posted September 30 Posted September 30 The performance was EVERYTHING ! Saw the Celebration tour , it was spectacular, this performance and her energy is on another level . my Supreme Quote

KalamazooJay Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Well, I absolutely loved the performance when I watched it live and love the edited one even more. The way I look at it, her LAV performance 40 years ago was far from perfect but it was still a cultural earthquake. This isn’t on that level of course, but it’s still one for the ages and will undoubtedly be remembered as a career high and probably ranked as one of the better VMA performances of its time. Like, she’s STILL doing this. THAT’S what inspires me. Of course there’s the usual bullshit negativity from the usual suspects, but it’s clear the tide has turned in her favor with the general public. Had this performance been done even 4 years ago, I don’t think the reaction would’ve been the same. People are genuinely starting to APPRECIATE her again. There’s an affection for her that I haven’t seen since probably the ROL/Music era. I will forever cherish everything about this era. Quote
smirnoff_ice Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Btw i actually loved her slightly wobbly walks to the stage - especially when she was dusting off her jacket. She was so cute. Quote
