Besides what y'all above said, I'd love to see Stuart win for producer of the year. He brought so much thought and precision to the table and the record sounds like a million bucks thanks to him. :wow:

Madonna May Be Headed For Her Biggest Grammy Night Ever

Madonna can easily be called one of the greatest pop musicians of all time. Some would give her the title of the most successful female pop artist ever, and at this point, she is an unquestioned legend. It took years, though, for critical applause to catch up with her commercial dominance.

The superstar scored her first Grammy nomination in 1986 for “Crazy for You,” but she did not win a prize until 1992. That year, the superstar took home Best Music Video, Long Form for Blond Ambition World Tour Live. She did not triumph in a true musical category until later in the decade, when Ray of Light was up for multiple honors. The full-length – still regarded as one of her best – won Best Pop Album, while its smash title track took home both Best Dance Recording and Best Music Video, Short Form.

Madonna regularly returned to the Grammys for decades, though she has only won a total of seven prizes. That’s not an insignificant sum, though it is fewer than a number of pop stars who began reaching the charts decades after her, such as Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

The Queen of Pop has not been nominated for any honor at music’s biggest night since 2010 – more than a decade and a half ago. That year, “Celebration” brought her back to the Best Dance Recording vertical, though it did not win. With a new critically-applauded and commercially successful release on her hands, it seems likely that Madonna will return to the Grammys — and she may even manage one of her greatest showings yet.

Madonna Could Approach Her Career-Best Grammy Showing

Most years Madonna earned Grammy nominations, she competed in only one or two categories. There were, however, a handful of ceremonies where the singer was up for multiple prizes.

Her most impressive showing came in 1999, when the powerhouse was nominated for five trophies, all connected to Ray of Light. That was also Madonna’s most successful year in terms of winning, as she took home three golden gramophones. Since then, Madonna has never been up for more than three trophies at one ceremony, but Confessions II and its singles may give her a chance to change that trajectory.

Confessions II Seems Like a Strong Dance Contender

Confessions II will almost certainly compete in the Best Dance/Electronic Album field. That arena is special for Madonna, as the original Confessions on a Dance Floor won the same Grammy in 2007.

Madonna may even find her way back to the all-important Album of the Year category with Confessions II. Such a nomination might have seemed unlikely before the full-length arrived, but critics have called the set some of her best work in a long, long time, and there may be a desire to recognize the singer’s longevity and overall career with another one of these nods.

That welcome nod could encourage voters to recognize Madonna’s continued and sometimes pioneering work in the electronic and dance fields – genres that have found their way into the Album of the Year category before.

Madonna Has Several Songs That Could Be Nominated

Several tunes featured on Confessions II could compete in different categories as well as the full-length.

“Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter, one of the biggest singles from the project, may bring the two women to the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance area. Any of the tracks where Madonna is the only credited performer could theoretically compete for Best Pop Solo Performance, though many will likely be classified in the dance/electronic fields instead.

There are several possible homes in that space, including Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Dance Pop Recording, one of the newer honors introduced by the Recording Academy. Among the likeliest contenders from Confessions II are singles “I Feel So Free,” “Love Sensation” and “Danceteria.” Exactly where they could compete – and which ones will earn some love – will depend on what Madonna and her team submit and how the Recording Academy ultimately categorizes the material.

Madonna May Return to the Visual Categories

It is also possible that Madonna may return to the visual fields, where she has won multiple trophies in the past. Throughout her career, the superstar has claimed both Best Music Video, Short Form and Best Music Video, Long Form, winning the latter category twice. The “Bring Your Love” visual could potentially compete, though it may be more about the music than the visuals this time around.

Madonna Might Earn Her Most Grammy Nominations Ever

Madonna already has multiple realistic avenues back to the Grammys with individual tunes and her latest album – and the predictions above do not include the hugely competitive Record and Song of the Year races, though those are a tougher bet.

It is entirely possible that Madonna could rack up several nominations for Confessions II and its singles. It would not be a complete shock if she ended up with enough nods to challenge her career-best five nominations in a single year. Even if she does not reach that mark, any return to the Grammy ceremony after more than a decade and a half away should be seen as a major comeback for the Queen of Pop.

I can definitely see this happening, I know I’m biased but beyond confessions ii I don’t feel like it’s been a very exceptional year for music to the point that it would block her out of these categories for nominations at the very least. I also predict we will be getting more before voting begins in mid-October to keep the era and album top of mind, like a remix album or super deluxe with those other 8 songs, along with an appearance/performance at the VMAs.

I expect she will defo win a few awards for BYL & The Film at the vma's & if Danceteria has been submitted for the Grammies (pop solo?)then it would make sense to perform it so that it's fresh in the minds of Grammy voters as the first round of voting ends in October.

However I feel the Grammys would be better suited to a Danceteria performance as the references may go over the heads of a vma audience.

she could do a medley at the vma's of BYL & bizarre & save Danceteria for the VMAs

not sure if this is real but i predicted in my first post they would submit IFSF for dance/electronic recording:

I'm predicting IFSF also for Best Dance/Electronic Recording

If they want to maximize noms potential they should have summited:

  • Best Dance/Electronic Recording - I Feel So Free
  • Best Dance Pop Recording - Danceteria (Love Sensation could be an alternative)
  • Best Pop Duo/Group Performance - Bring Your Love
  • Best Pop Solo Performance - Fragile

Question remains if they summited Bring Your Love or Danceteria for Record and Song of the Year.

That exact pink scarf goes for $650 and counting @ebay..so th voters got rich

i think a nomination is pretty much guaranteed at this point, especially with the expanded number of albums in the category. i'm not betting on her winning - if they don't give it to olivia or taylor, i'm sure the votes will split and some random dude nobody's heard of will win. but if warner campaigns properly, she does have a chance.

I asked ChatGPT before and after the VMAS.

I don't mean to be a spoilsport, but I wouldn't have high hopes for the Grammys.

They've always ignored and looked down on her; I don't think that's going to change now.

I think you're a bit naive thinking it will win album of the year, I bet the winner will be Lux by Rosalia.

I wish they would give it to Madonna, because she deserves it and they owe it to her for all the years of disdain, but to be honest, I don't see any chance of it knowing what has happened throughout her career.

The elements in her favour right now are the big wins at the VMAs which have got everyone talking about her again, plus all the great reviews and coverage she’s had over the summer. She’s released some of the best music of her career and, at this point, it feels like the industry are in a place where they want to recognise her.

Not saying she will win AOTY but it is her best chance since ROL. She may get a nod for record of the year but that tends to only go to smash hits as far as I can remember from the last few years.

Realistically I think she can hope to come away with 3 or 4 Grammys in the pop, dance and video categories. But it doesn’t hurt to hope for AOTY.

If she doesn’t get nominated and performs, it’d be interesting to see what she chooses to do. She’s just pulled off a massive spectacular performance at the VMAs. Would she take a different approach for the Grammys.

Yes to all of this, and I'd add that an AOTY nomination should be considered a win in and of itself. She hasn't been anywhere close to that in decades.

I would love to see her do L.E.S Girl to show a different side of the record.

I don't know if this shitty anti-Madonna campaign that's been generated on social media after her MTV performance is going to hurt her Grammy nominations or awards.

How unfair that would be, her performance hasn't been awful, quite the opposite, but we have to start campaigns against her!

The fan bases of others are starting to do their work, what a disgusting female pop scene!!

I truly don't see the smearing hurting her nearly as much as I see the VMA wins and the praise she got boosting her.

Beyond the praise, she's also getting a lot of sympathy. In a way, the ageist and sexist attacks on her are just generating more publicity for her.

If anything, her strong showing at the VMAs makes her Grammy possibilities seem more real than before. The voting opens in two weeks and she is dominating the news cycle. She will be super fresh on voters' minds.

I like the idea of seeing LES Girl live but I wouldn't want them to think she was 'acting her age' more at the Grammys. Some combo of a faster song and LES Girl would be interesting.

i'm definitely putting my money on olivia rodrigo. madonna would be a big upset. we need to see who gets nominated though.

yeah i agree. she's only ever been nominated for AOTY once before, so a nomination would be a big win, not just for madonna but pre-2000s pop females.

if anything it will help her since all of the people who are saying "i didn't even know she had a new album out" can't say that anymore. now everyone knows.

she should get nominated without question, but they won't ever let her win. maybe it would've been another ROL.. but confessions II's genre/sound isn't something they reward for album of the year.

since Rosalia's album was so big and different.. she could have a chance.. but I think the winner is gonna be Olivia. she's the type the Grammys love, same with her music. it's safe music wise and has a big fanbase so no one will complain.

I think she definitely deserves one of the video awards and for sure the best dance album! maybe some technical awards.. I also wouldn't be surprised if the vma backlash from ignorant teens will make the Grammys give her less noms. the Grammys only care about being popular among youth as of late.. I wouldn't be shocked if they snubbed her, only to be praised by young people for it.

i don't see it as a "let" her win (or not) situation. it will come down to the votes and whether she and warner campaign for it or not. if she generates good will and continues doing promo, she has just as good a chance anyone else. you're right that the sound of the album could be a hurdle - but again that's on the voters, which are made up artists, producers, songwriters, etc. in the industry. at the end of the day, is it ever really about the music though? if so, the genre shouldn't matter. if she wins it will be because the album has gotten great buzz and people think she's overdue for recognition. it's very possible. but i agree olivia is the frontrunner. i suppose taylor's also in the mix because she always is, but i can't see them giving it to her again or for this album, which is not well received.

She should release Bizarre in November with a new remix to keep the hype (Hoping for Bizarre feat. Dua Lipa)

I think she has 3 wins on lock right now for the Grammys:

  1. Dance/Electronic Album
  2. Dance Pop Recording (most likely for Danceteria)
  3. Best Music Film

Every other category is still a question mark.
