bard Posted August 21 Posted August 21 It's a little early, but since there have been some media articles about it, I figured we should start a thread. Realistically, which categories do you think she'll be nominated for? I think she's a lock for: BEST DANCE/ELECTRONIC ALBUM BEST DANCE POP RECORDING (BYL or "Danceteria"? Does "Love Sensation" with Kylie have a shot?) BEST MUSIC FILM Possible: ALBUM OF THE YEAR (this category was expanded to 10 nominees a few years ago, making this more likely IMO.) BEST POP DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE (BYL) Could she also receive a nomination for BEST DANCE/ELECTRONIC RECORDING (maybe for IFSF)? This category was split off from dance/pop to allow pure electronic/dance acts to win more often, but Beyonce was nominated in 2023 and, well, Madonna is widely considered a dance artist now. It honestly depends on how her team decides to submit her. I could also see a BEST RECORDING PACKAGE and PRODUCER OF THE YEAR, but those obviously wouldn't go to Madonna. Less likely but still possible (especially if she gets an AOTY nomination): RECORD OF THE YEAR (BYL or "Danceteria"?) SONG OF THE YEAR (BYL or "Danceteria"?) If one of these does happen, I could see it going to "Danceteria," especially if the song is promoted like a single over the next few months. Quote
xtaticboy82 Posted August 21 Posted August 21 More than 50% chance for AOTY! And yes possible for ROTY with Bring Your Love. I don't think she will be nominated for Song of the Year though. Quote

I don't think she will be nominated for Song of the Year though. the only reason i included it is because sometimes those categories are wacky and the song you think will get ROTY gets SOTY or vice versa. but in general i agree. i actually think both might be out of reach unless there's a big madonna wave and something like "danceteria" sneaks in. Phantom Pain Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Best dance/electronic is a must!! They can’t snub her!! Quote

Nightshade Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Is there an outside chance that the M-Kylie remix of "Love Sensation" could get a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance? Personally, I think that one sounds better than "Bring Your Love." I think Best Dance/Electronic Album is a lock for a nomination and probably favored to win. Quote

¿Nominar a Taylor Swift o a Lady? Whether we like it or not, even though the Grammys have lost a lot, they are still a great showcase and a great promotion. Edited August 23 by Plr72 Quote

ThomasW Posted August 24 Posted August 24 there's some buzz for some of Sabrina's songs, would that make it a "cancel each other out" situation with BYL on some categories? assuming they'll get the noms of course Quote
ULIZOS Posted August 24 Posted August 24 At min she should win Best Dance/Electronic Album because then it’s a full circle with Confessions I Quote

Beastialg Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I think VMAs show that they Will likely push Bring Your Love over other songs (Danceteria) in the main categories. WIN Frontrunner Best Dance/Electronic Album (Confessions II) Best Dance Pop Recording (Danceteria) Best Music Film (Confessions II The film) Likely of a NOM, not sure about a win. Album of the Year (Confessions II) Best Dance/Electronic Recording (I Feel So Free) Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (Bring Your Love) Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical (I Feel So Free Peggy Gou Remix) Best Recording Package (Confessions II) Might get a NOM but it's a longshot Record of the Year (Bring Your Love) Song of the Year (Bring Your Love) Best Pop Solo Performance (Fragile) Producer of the Year, Non-Classical (Stuart Price & Madonna) Right now I'm feeling this era gets 8 noms (6 for Madonna) and she wins 3 (Electronic Album, Whatever she summits in Dance Pop recording and Music Film) Quote

However, BYL had its own standalone video, which none of the other songs on the album have (the others are visualizers and lyric videos, even though they have imagery). So BYL is really the only eligible *song* for a video award. The other noms are for the full film. The “best artist” category is kind a weird now — I understand the history is that they eliminated Best Female Video and Best Male Video, but now that it is “Best Artist,” it isn’t for a video, as it was in the past for the separate awards. (For example, Madonna won for Take a Bow specifically.) I don’t know — it just seems a little odd. I am hoping she wins it, of course, since she hasn’t won it before (as “Best Artist”) … I just think it is a weird category now. I suppose in the old days if someone like Madonna had a cycle of great, strong videos, she could have won as an artist without any of the individual videos winning, so there’s that advantage. But I don’t know — it makes it seem like they aren’t focusing on videos, which is the point of the awards in the first place. (“Best New Artist” seems the same way, though, I suppose.) Quote
Lolo Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Honestly f the Grammies but I think it’s time for them to pay some respect and right the numerous wrongs they’ve done to Madonna by overlooking so many classic albums. Quote

I understand that, but I’m just saying that, as of the time of the VMA nominations, BYL was the only song that had its own video to be able to be nominated for Song of the Year… Like, Danceteria didn’t have a standalone video, so it wasn’t going to be nominated for Song of the Year. Anyway, chances are looking slim for anything else to have a standalone video at this point. Would be nice if Danceteria and Bizarre get the single treatment at some point, but not sure if it’ll happen before Grammy noms are closed. As far as BYL and the Grammy Awards are concerned, I can see it being considered for a collab Grammy or dance/electronic, but I don’t see it making it for Song of the Year or Record of the Year. Beastialg Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I agreed that it's between Bring Your Love and Danceteria for Record of the Year. We have to wait and see what Warner's ends up summiting. I betting BYL even though I think Danceteria is the better and more impactful song. Quote
KalamazooJay Posted August 26 Posted August 26 There’s not a lot of competition this year, is there? I think a nomination for AOTY is a lock. And I think she has the best chance at winning it than at any point in her career. The academy DOES love a comeback story and they especially love giving trophies out to legacy artists. Imagine the press they’d get the next day if Madonna gets her first Grammy for album of the year 40 plus years into her career. It’d be huge. Quote

It’d be huge. i do think a nomination is very possible, especially given that the category now includes up to 10 nominees. it would be very easy for them to toss her a bone. winning will be much harder and will depend a lot on what she and warner do next. remix album, big push for "danceteria" (very skeptical at this point IMO), something else to keep the album in voters' and the public's minds over the next few months? dollhouse Posted August 26 Posted August 26 ^then theres VMA's #soon with possible performance and I think WM sent BYL there, it will send BYL also to Grammies (its still charting on USA airplay after 17 weeks!) Quote

Bretticus Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Olivia Dean is going to sweep the main categories just because she’s safe and popular, but I hope M is at least nominated. Quote
