Little disappointed that they only made available the after hours edition on itunes. This should have been released on all streaming sites

The Afterhours version is on Amazon Music as well.

Frankly 136K first weeks in the US is quite disappointing.  even among the gay community in the US, that points to a very small fan base. She and WB have a lot of work to expand outside of this small group of people. All that marketing efforts and it has not translated into significant numbers.

Don't be a vibe kill

136k is well above various mainstream artists of this time, and better than any other 70/80 or even 90s act realising new content.

I'm sure WB is pretty happy with this.

Nope. This is actually quite an impressive feat for a legacy artist. Especially in 2026.

136k is phenomenal.

What can we do with your disappointment?

no, these numbers are objectively great. it's her biggest opening week since MDNA, when she had the super bowl and a tour bundle at her back. she's 67. there's nobody else doing it like her.

I adore her and love the #1 obs.  but she’s not breaking through even with all the promo. That’s all I am saying. Don’t mean to bring the mood down.  happy to celebrate it just wish the numbers were larger.

i wish the marketing had reached wider, but in hindsight it was a smart move because they could have spent millions on trying to reach the general public and it probably would have fallen on deaf ears, whereas they targeted it ALL toward her core audience and it paid off.

on a side note: now that the album is a success and it has the gay stamp of approval, they could pivot toward trying to break through to a wider audience, but honestly these days that can happen organically with word of mouth, etc. hopefully it will. i've already reached out to some of the girlies i knew from school who used to love madonna and asked if they've heard it and told them it's her best in decades. they were like "oh really? I'm going to check it out!"

Don't worry, you won't bring down the mood.

She is almost 70 and has been at this for 45 years.....Our society is ageist as fuck.  Radio won't touch her.  BYL was regulated to the witching hours like it was diseased.

There is only so much "breaking through" someone her age can do.  No one else her age or around her age has ever come close to what she's achieving right now.

it's all about the reviews and word of mouth. tell your straight friends and family! it really works!

Except she is — she is a legacy artist who is releasing new material—not a reissue or compilation. In terms of pure sales, she’s had the 2nd best opening week for a female artist in 2026 (only behind Olivia Rodrigo). If you want to see a legacy artist whose new material couldn’t break through despite being one of the top artists of the 90s/00s, check out the sales of Mariah’s latest album.

Quite. And Grindr? Horned up users of the app aren't there to find music recommendations - it was never going to net millions of sales. The little promo she did, most of it pretty niche, generated great results.

not to mention, it created buzz outside of the app. the people who were most likely to buy the album knew about it. not to mention the millions grindr probably put into the short film, times square show, etc. it all added up.
