If M is asked to sing a classic, my safest bet would be either LIB or LAP. Music is also fine as one fab member suggested. Or maybe she can revisit or rework her Live Aid '85 peace song: LMTWGR. Ā I canāt imagine she wonāt sing a classic, the event kind ofĀ demandsĀ it.Ā The real opportunity of course is to sing a brand new song with the ENTIRE world watching and listening. Fuck playlists Fuck radio bribesĀ This is traditional good old fashioned promotional tactics, a major performance at a major event. Its what Madonna had always done well to divert attention to her new music. Leave the Spotify manipulation to the pop tarts of the charts and leave Queen M to bring it old skool and earn the worlds attention the old fashioned way,Ā working for itĀ in a performance.

I say it all with love and loosely as she is a music legend but I do agree, sheās not exactly a footie cored favourite. But She knows exactly how to put on a sensational show, and Iām sure she will take one of her new solo bangersĀ from CII to perform along with LAP which every fucker knows inside & outside of FOOTBALL so that will please the crowd! Know what, some of your points brought me back to the time when rumors spread that M would do the 2012 Superbowl Halftime. Initially, I was quite concerned about how the American footie crowd would react to her show. A gay icon and pop rebel appearing in a "patriarchal sporting event." The incompatibility was hard to ignore. But the perennial glass ceiling smasher that she is, M simply did her thing and eventually won over the Indianapolis spectators and GP crowd watching all over America. I can't forget YouTube posts of straight daddies singing alongĀ Vogue (the gayest M single ever) or LAP. So, I'm hopeful that the WC crowd this time will be as welcoming as SB audience of 2012. Ā

Anne Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Great promo spot, just not only for the new album but for her whole back catalogue.
systemvalues Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Putting aside all the qualms and doubts regarding the organization behind the event, we must also remember that just a few months ago, many people complained that M hadn't participated in the opening or closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics or ridiculed her presence in the promotional campaign for D&G's perfume, considering it not global and impactful enough. So, I don't think we can now complain about the media exposure this performance will receive. M's goal is to reach as many people as possible with her music, and her music has always had a positive message. So, for my part, I'm eagerly awaiting what she has in store for us.

Lolo Posted May 14 Posted May 14 The album is out almost two weeks by then. I assume the big single (Danceteria) will have been released even earlier, maybe four weeks prior? If this has any impact or charts, it would be stupid not to perform it there.Ā

peter Posted May 14 Posted May 14 I hope that some are correct about the length of the show accommodating each of the performers, but ⦠I thought I read somewhere the show is supposed to be 11-12 minutesā¦? (Unless someone was guessing about the length based on Madonnaās Super Bowl, which is kind of an outdated running time these days. She was shortchanged based on todayās more generous running times.) If it is that short, theyād each barely get three and a half minutes, with a little bit left over for all of them to participate in a finale. Less than four minutes wouldnāt be much time for a new song and a classic ā not sure how that will shake out.

There are rumours they have extended the halftime to accommodate but it is only 15 minutes and that is the rule by FIFA, would they change a rule of halftime for all football matches, it has always been 15 minutes. But you are right, Iām not sure theyāll be room for 2 songs BUT I canāt imagine organisers asking Madonna to play it WITHOUT a classic. I think it can be done a classic & a new song but it will be tight.Ā Madonna managed it at the Eurovision in 9 minutes but it could have easily been chopped down to 6 minutes. The trouble is, thereās so many performers Coldplay, Shakira, Madonna & BLS thatās heavy for 15 minutes. My guess is theyāll extend by 5 minutes to accommodate, otherwise to be fair, everyone is only getting just shy of 4 minutes stage time each. With 20 minutes everyone can have 5 minutes on stage.

Thanks ā was just reading elsewhere about the possibility they are extending to 15 (or some even suggesting 25) minutes. But ⦠weāll see, I guess. If they have to construct/tear down any sort of stage, thatās going to reduce the overall time, as well. (That was part of the reason Madonnaās halftime show was only 11-12 minutes. She had a certain amount of time for the stage to be built, and then less time to deconstruct it. The entire break in the game was half an hour, I think, but only about a third of it was performance time.) I donāt know if Coldplay is supposed to perform or not. It says the show is ācurated by Chris Martinā and the three performers are Shakira, BTS, and Madonna. If Coldplay are performing separately (and not ājustā joining the others for a sing-along moment at the end), then it is going to be extra tight on time. But I donāt think they are performing ā itās not been billed that way.
