We've been subjected to this shit relentlessly for what seems like forever and these assholes can't air a 20 minute Half Time show because they need to talk about what everyone just watched (as if they're not going to talk about it MORE when all of it is over)?? FUCK OFF! The straights and their sports I hope when Madonna comes out she drops a stadium sized purple veil onto the field That would be incredible. I just want to sleep through this whole FIFA thing and know nothing about it!

Nikki Posted July 12 Posted July 12 You could probably look into it more, I'm sure there are studies on it. men's football being so huge worldwide kind of shows how much straight men's interests are still seen as more important. Think about how seriously people take it. It's on the news constantly, tv programming gets moved around for matches, there's insane amounts of money in it, and hardly anyone questions any of that. Meanwhile pop music gets written off as shallow. it's obvious the people who are in charge of what's seen as important.. I mean.. just the fact that there's gonna be tv channels that won't air it because they gotta talk about the game when it's half time.. they gotta get off their high horse. nothing they do is unique or creative.
Je5u5 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 A bunch of guys running around kicking a ball with variable success rate when it comes to aiming it correctly, yeah.
Mr Ciccone Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Any hype I had for this has all but been extguished. Perhaps that's a good thing though?

mtzlplk Posted July 12 Posted July 12 What's the point in appearing here if it will not be shown live?
Lolo Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The half time show is for the US market, which is obsolete because they don’t care anymore since their team got eliminated. Europe didn’t want this in the first place and people find the idea abhorrent. The only people who still might be invested are maybe Argentina? The rest of the football world hate Argentina now and believe the tournament is rigged in favor of Messi. It seems like there is no market for this event and I’m not surprised it’s not going to be televised in some places.
toujours Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I treat the FIFA Halftime as another promotional event for C2 and M's music in general. It's still a global platform. And she really wants to be part of the show.

Most people on Argentina don't care about the halftime either and will for sure hate it if it is more than a 15 minutes break. Most people already hate the water breaks, so a 30-45 minutes break? Hell will break loose. Also not to get into soccer fight but when Argentina loses is fair but when we win is rigged. OK...

What has this thread come to, can we please get back to focusing on her performance & how we hope it will turn out considering she will have the largest worldwide audience watching her... now, about this whole not showing the halftime show business- who is not airing? Nothing has been confirmed or denied yet, we all need to wait in our respective countries to see what the national broadcaster of each nation decides CLOSER TO THE TIME. if it turns out your country isn't showing it then FIFA may show it globally on YouTube or use a damn VPN! for anyone not interested in fifa u just need to tune in to support or gal & spread the word to all your Freind's family & colleagues- your duty calls you! for the rest who r boycotting the entire fifa show STAY OUT IF THIS THREAD. bye.

Yes, let's inform our respective circles that the Queen of Pop---the artist with number 1 albums in 4 or 5 decades---is a Halftime Show headliner. Here's wishing M to do a stellar job. And let's continue celebrating the critical and commercial success of C2.
xoxoboi24 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 hmm. the general audience still does not know madonna has a (great!) new album out. This may just help a bit get her attention outside of the gay world.
Prayer85 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Lately, she has really come to love soccer; she often goes to the stadium with her boyfriend. I enjoy sports—soccer included—and I followed the matches enthusiastically right to the end, even though Italy didn't qualify. I also think this is a great opportunity for M to introduce herself to new, heterosexual generations. It doesn't matter to me whether it's broadcast or not; I'll watch it one way or another. Obviously, the final is the highlight of the whole event, so it's understandable that many people aren't interested in the music. I still wonder how the halftime show manages to be so beloved in America.

Silverfox Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I wonder if we’ll get any more promo for the halftime show this week. Any behind the scenes videos or similar. It seems like they are keeping it pretty tightly under wraps, which is understandable, but I wonder if there will be any kind of trails for it. Also I think people are exaggerating the ‘hate’ for it. Most football fans won’t even know it’s happening yet and as long as it takes place within the usual 15 minute break, people will either watch it and enjoy it or won’t care. If they don’t want to see it, they’ll go and get another drink like they usually do during half-time. People in here are acting like it’s going to cause riots.
Lolasmommy Posted July 14 Posted July 14 When do we think she will start rehearsing? The stadium should be available for rehearsals after Wednesdays match until sunday

ThomasW Posted July 14 Posted July 14 and now Robbie Williams is joining too? WTF https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/world-cup-half-time-show-37430308
strepentijger Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robbie Williams will perform on Sunday during the closing ceremony ahead of the World Cup final. Tom Cruise, among others, will also make an appearance during the show. YouTuber IShowSpeed will also play a role in the ceremony. Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, and Tony winner Jennifer Hudson will sing the US national anthem, FIFA announced in a press release. The ceremony at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey begins ninety minutes before kickoff of the final, which starts at 9:00 PM Dutch time. For the first time, the World Cup final will feature a halftime show. Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, and BTS will perform during the eleven-minute show. These artists were announced several weeks ago.

ThomasW Posted July 14 Posted July 14 they should send the Bieber to the last minutes of the closing ceremony tbh
Dilly.Dally Posted July 14 Posted July 14 This is coming across as more of a reminder to the public that M is still around… I’ve been mentioning my excitement for Confessions II at work and genuinely some people have asked “Oh! Is Madonna still alive?”. I think this performance is to remind the general public of Madonna’s existence. Which will hopefully spur interest in her and then lead to plays of Confessions II (as it’s highlighted on her streaming pages). A lot of people (as evident by reaction videos) don’t even know Hung Up is performed by Madonna. They all love the song and label it a classic, and seemed surprised it’s by Madonna.
Je5u5 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 During the Spanish broadcast of today's Spain-France game, which I'm sure had HUGE ratings they mentioned a few times that SHAKIRA would be performing during the final. So... 1. Wtf why not mention the others?! 2. Does that mean the halftime show will actually be broadcasted here?!
bard Posted July 14 Posted July 14 25 minutes ago, MadFan said: Is this turning into the next We Are the World? i really don't understand how this is going to work or how madonna will benefit from being a part of it. she needs the stage to herself for longer than half a song.
Who Is That Girl? Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I just don't see how she has time to sing one song with all the acts - why the fuck did they add Bieber? Perhaps a Danceteria/Vogue performance, as much as I like RML it is just not the right choice, I am a bit nervous about this show. I do feel this is going to be a big nothing burger - it's feeling all a bit Live Earth and Hey You. I think she will be lost amongst the hysteria of the game itself and the cast of thousands.
