What a bunch of assholes. I didnt see it to catch the tone of the discussion, but Madonna being hired for it to attract an older audience is correct. She is legend of old and the World Cup final will be watched by millions of middle aged to older people across the world, most of which won’t have a clue who BTS are, but could sing you several Madonna songs. So I think it’s a fair comment on paper, be say Madonna is the perfect performer for these types of global events that demands a star of a certain magnitude that everyone actually knows

Absolutely. I think all 3 acts represent something very different and cover many demographics/generations to suit the audience of the entire world. What is bb though?

Yes, the organizers are acknowledging M's imperial reign that has spanned three decades and at least three different generations. Shak mainly brings in the millennials and early Gen Zs while BTS primarily covers the Zed and Alpha audience. The challenge is how to seamlessly blend their respective repertoires to satisfy every demographic. I also wonder when the three acts will start rehearsals, given that BTS is currently on tour. M is preoccupied with promotional events. Dunno what's keeping Shak busy nowadays. PS. Thanks, Peter for filling in. Sorry Confess It II for the confusion.

Many people are predicting Into the Groove (+a new song from Confessions II) and it would totally make sense. Its one of her biggest hits and went viral recently.

I would love Holiday, it’s a classic, a crowd pleaser & very celebratory so I feel the occasion of World Cup final would absolutely lend itself to being played! But she hasn’t played it at an event outside of a tour since 1985s LiveAid. I do think it will be either Vogue or LAP that is rolled out, they seem to be the big 2. The only other close contenders for me are HU & Music, if she wants the whole performance to be dancey honest energy. My money is on LAP, it worked exceptionally at SB, LiveEarth & Coachella, the only time it fell flat was Eurovision, but that was mostly because the mix was shit.

It belongs to her modern classics for sure with Music, Hung Up, 4Min & Frozen. But as a contender for this type of event, I think a song will be taken off her all time iconic hits shelf.

Would be nice if Shakira and BTS joined her for the second song, which should be a classic and could conclude the set. Technically there is time for them to rehearse something together but I don’t know what their schedules are like in June. Shakira is on tour in the US during those days. Don’t know about BTS.

Madonnas performances at both Live8 & LiveEarth were OUTSTANDING I don’t remember ANY criticism of them it was just met with universal praise !! She looked incredible, her vocals were on fucking fire, the songs were blissful. She was a total pro and blew everyone away!! She fucking killed it at both events and was the absolute draw and top bill at both. For me, her live rendition of LAP at Live8 remains the best of her entire career, her delivery was immaculate, flawless & epic.
