Rain Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Even though I was skeptical at first, calling the album Confessions II does feel perfect now that we have heard it. However I'm curious. How would you have called it if it was not a sequel? Danceteria? One Step Away? Hot Sauce? Something else entierly? Quote
Benjl1993 Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I was thinking about Thai earlier, maybe Danceteria, or something that plays on the sequel without being so on the nose like... Revelations on a dancefloor? Kinda fits considering how personal some of the lyrics are. Quote
Django Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Choosing from the track titles I like Danceteria and School. Danceteria as of course, a perfect dance album. School as showing the bitches how is it done. Quote
datf Posted July 4 Posted July 4 if it wasn't designed to be a coadf sequel, i think "club of love" would be a cool title too. Quote

svperstar Posted July 4 Posted July 4 It definitely only has its current title for the purpose of marketing, I feel. Yes, it's mostly a dance album, but the first Confessions and this are thematic opposites. The first one is about the joy of dance, the celebration of its culture -- this one uses the dance floor as an outlet for all the traumas and sorrows that have plagued our girl in the years since Madame X. I don't think it would have gotten as much notice with any other title, BUT, if it did have one... Danceteria would have been perfect IMO. Quote

Considering the lyrical content and artistic intention from everything she has said in interviews, plus fan reactions so far, “Revelations” feels like the most obvious fit, while still connecting to the original. pithy Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Was also thinking along these lines. The title definitely succeeded in getting people to lean in a little closer, but the album could've easily stood on its own. It didn't have to be relegated to the sister album bucket at all. Quote
Ciccone's Cheeks Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Ya, Revelations On A Dancefloor is reeally good! Instant & very crafty. + keeps enough of the original for 'marketing' yet also doesn't directly set a specific expectation that it's a simple extension. That, or Danceteria. Another very obvious & cool choice. Either one def. would've worked & I think are better than 'COAD II'. Shows more originality & that they thought a bit more outside the box. Quote
domyeyebrows Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Confessions 2 is still a poor title IMO but it has more than done the trick in terms of hype. A smart move given today's climate but creatively beneath her, I feel. Danceteria would have been an obvious but decent choice. Quote
promise to try Posted July 4 Posted July 4 DAnceteria should have been the name of the album. Confessions II is crap. maybe confessions in danceteria, or Danceteria: confessions II Quote
cocolattee Posted July 4 Posted July 4 This album is so good on its own that it didn't need being associated with COADF (assuming this was a marketing move) The comparison is totally inappropriate because they are 2 completely different beasts Mother, Danceteria, Club of Love, they all would have been good titles Quote

VogueMusic Posted July 4 Posted July 4 'Mother' or 'Mother of the House' were the other titles I was thinking of in the lead up to the album over the past year. From the house-oriented nature of the sound, to again reflecting on her life story/mortality/Lola, etc... but it would have probably been ripped apart for sounding too "Drag Race/RuPaul"-ish by some here... stevo208 Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Mother would have been great or the obvious Danceteria. Confessions 2 is a marketing thing... and a brilliant one. This album is way more confessional that C1 though. I never thought the original confessions was very, er, confessional. Quote

Geiger83 Posted July 4 Posted July 4 In my head this album is called Ray of Erotic Confessions, but I think Confessions 2 is the perfect choice, for many reasons. It helped to reconnect with GP and deranged fans Quote

Icykiller Posted July 4 Posted July 4 The CII title is a marketing strategy. I always thought about it, and listening to the album confirms it. I also think Danceteria makes sense. Quote

HolidayGuy Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Technically, though, it should be COADF II. This is not a sequel to Usher's Confessions, danger. The full title is written/hyped in various marketing spots, visualizers, etc. But I guess the shortened Confessions is more digestible. Quote
Rain Posted July 5 Author Posted July 5 Nice ideas people Danceteria does feels good, as for Revelations OAD. But after thinking about it some more, I came to the conclusion that the perfect album title would have been Madame Y. Quote
