robster Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I am floored! Instant career highlight. This album is WAY more experimental than it was letting on at first glance. And some people will have no idea what hit them. This final couple of tracks will be a total whiplash in the best possible way. A lot of sonic references to earlier albums (Erotica and Bedtime Stories primarily), Bangers (Good For The Soul, Bizarre, Love Without Words) but also laying her soul VERY bare (Fragile, Betrayal, The Test)! Boy is this album a journey, Stuart just fucked my brain through my ears and made me cum for an hour straight with his detailed and surprising production. From delicate (LES Girl) and fresh to gritty, nasty and dirty (School, Everything). Remember when I said a few days ago that I’d love her to do an album next with 60s and 70s inspired french chanson type songs, well, keep that in mind when listening to the final parts of the album, like she read my mind. Top tracks at the moment: Good For The Soul, School, Bizarre, Love Without Words (Single please!), My Sins Are My Savior, Betrayal, The Test & LES Girl… I’m glad I had my first experience with this album in the depth of the night, this album deserves the darkness of night, only broken by strobelights and the odd gleam of an old lightbulb or flickering candle hidden in hazy fog. Why was “Love Without Words” not the first single or introduction to the album?! And I want to LIVE in “School”, it makes me want to walk into a dance floor, eye fucking everyone around me, take off all my clothes and play with myself, it’s THAT nasty! Not lyrically, just the sound of it! The way “My Sins Are My Savior” transports me back to that black and white corridor wearing nothing but a black coat… Quote

But literally everyone on ALTR, a place where I'd normally expect to see mixed reactions, is gagged (as of Thursday morning). The general consensus seems to be that the second half is even stronger, more experimental, and ROL/Erotica-esque. Friday can't come soon enough! Quote

"Fragile" really speaks to my soul, and I want to listen to it hundreds of times. "Danceteria," "Bizarre," "Fragile," and "Read My Lips" could all be singles. There are less than 12 hours left until midnight in Italy. The Queen is back with her best album in years. Quote
Crux Posted July 2 Posted July 2 OH MY GOD! I just listened to the flac file and I'm beyond floored. I didn't expect it to be as experimental as it was. The first 6 songs are incredible and so much better than in the film, but the album starts to dive into unexpected territory with "Everything", which to me sounds like a mixture of "Skin", "Sky Fits Heaven" and "Bedtime Story". "Love Without Words", and "School" are beyond crazy. Fragile is beautiful - very Ray of Light My Sins are my Saviour has the Tom's Diner sample by Suzanne Vega. I mentioned it yesterday after listening to the first minute or so. I've only listened to the album once, but It's breathtaking. I'm already itching to listen again Right now it's 10/10 and the best album she's done since the first Confessions. I LOVE it so much. Quote

Paul Posted July 2 Posted July 2 So, every song from the C2 film is better on the album than in the film. It's like they only used to most boring parts in the film. Only up to Love Without Words so far. Every song is great. Read mY lips fits perfectly in the flow of the songs. Ever BYL sounds elevated by the way it follows One Step Away. Love WIthout Words is a real jam. Love it. Updates: Bizarre is amazing in full. School is a bit hard to get into, but I think it might become one of my favourites. EDIT: its now one of my favourites already! School is in session! Quote
