I think confusion has probably arisen in more recent years because … in the “old days,” iTunes was a store and an app, but then the store got merged into the app … and now … they are separate again (on mobile devices at least). So, you can use iTunes to buy a digital copy of the album … you don’t need an Apple Music subscription. BUT … here’s where it gets a little muddy … the app you use to play it is (wait for it…) … the Apple Music app. And you click on your library and play it. Sounds like it is still fairly straightforward? Okay … but then you don’t even *need* to download the copy you purchased from iTunes. You can play it back without downloading it. What would you call that? Some might call it … streaming? You’re playing it back from the cloud, at any rate. And I imagine that doesn’t count for Apple Music streaming numbers. But i have a *little* empathy for some who might be a little confused as to what is happening and what counts. This isn’t exactly like someone playing a vinyl and thinking that is streaming. The technology keeps shifting and adapting. (I think even the desktop version of iTunes will let you play your library from the cloud — from your purchase history, I mean — without downloading a copy locally. Mine set-up is a little messed up — computer had died and I didn’t really replace it for years, was just using phone and tablet, but my digital music library housekeeping was something I always wanted to get organized again. Haven’t exactly done that, but I did take some initial steps finally — and bought some of my extra digital copies of CII on my desktop … was going to try to keep those on the computer but not on my phone, because I don’t really need four-five copies of the album on my phone. They all ended up there, anyway. I think I have to remove them from my phone. Mess. But … yeah, if I have WiFi, I can play any of those copies without storing it locally. Which — I mean, I definitely want to store at least one copy digitally just in case! I just mean in terms of “streaming” … it doesn’t count, but essentially it is using the internet to play an audio file which I do not possess on my device. So … it seems like a grey area.) Quote

In the meantime, the album is loved even by my 4-year-old daughter—she adores it and sings and dances along to every track! Criticism from jealous people means nothing! That said, I do miss her slow songs and love ballads—her voice is so sweet. I was just listening to a playlist of mine featuring big hits like "This Used to Be My Playground," and I don't think this new generation knows these masterpieces. P.S. Is this forum dead? Quote
