Madonna entered her 50s screaming her sugar was raw sticky and sweet while showing skin along with her insane athletic performance ability still intact.  The Sticky and Sweet Tour is one massive 2 hour long grueling workout.  Jlo still being able to perform with this energy and showing this much skin in her 50s with hardly any ageist hate has Madonna to thank as well.

Exactly I remember years ago they were counting down the days until her 50 th birthday. I always thought that was so weird like who cares . This is why I find it weird when other fanbases always call M old and want to drag her. They don’t realize their favorite artist will no longer be in the spotlight and will get older one day also. Like I say all the time Beyoncé is 44 and they rarely drag her. I see nasty comments sometimes saying she’s aging better and classier than M

well, cher did this when she was in her 40s:

i don't think they're comparable artists, and madonna has done a ton that cher never has, but it's okay to admit that there are women who paved the way for madonna to do that.

Say it babe. Madonna is in unchartered territory.

The ONLY two we could even compare her to are Tina Turner who had a successful record in Europe at 60 with Twenty Four Seven (though not exactly well-received critically), and crushed a stadium tour fabulously at 70. Tina is fabulous, we know that.

And David Bowie, whose album Blackstar was successful and forward-thinking musically... another amazing artist obviously. But his death complicates that and the era was essentially posthumous.

As far as cultural importance and defining what a music artist can do at M's age and stage of the game? She is one of one in that regard.

Yes, she was working on two musicals, both abandoned. (One was Hello, Suckers, and the other was an untitled Luc Besson script for which “Hung Up” came into being — the “ABBA on acid” instruction came from M to Stuart because Besson’s script was to open with a woman on her deathbed having a flashback through the decades of her life, with time-specific music to accompany the audience on the journey.)

It was worse than that. Every article would say “ the almost 50 singer”, when she was 47 and 48… it was so weird. They did the same as she approached 60.
