Selena Posted July 13 Posted July 13 We had a party last week, and I played the new Confessions II for a friend of mine who isn't a fan like I am, but who likes Madonna's music and respects her as an artist. She fell in love with the album, and later we listened to it over and over again. And of course we danceee .This album is a masterpiece, and i think everyone who hears it, think that way 🩷 Quote

We know of the other Arca song (“What Saves Me” I think it was?) and Madonna spoke of “Forgive Yourself” on the Jay Shetty podcast, so we know of those song titles. (Someone reliable indicated that Swae Lee was on another Frozen remix, but it never got released for some reason. So … unless something else was recorded during that same session, I wouldn’t necessarily expect that to be part of a Confessions II expanded re-release.) (Also … yeah … I’m wondering how Andrew Watt and Cirkut got connected, if not for Elton John and Max Martin, respectively. She was first pictured with Watt backstage at SNL when she was there to visit with Elton. And Cirkut frequently works with Max Martin, if I understand correctly…? So it made me wonder if she met Cirkut through her working session with MM, and then reached out about Danceteria for some reason. I haven’t actually read through the credits myself yet — I thought I read that both Watt and Cirkut co-produced Danceteria with Madonna and Stuart. And we know Arca has some co-production on IFSF and The Test. I need to see if there are any others involved. I know there are additional songwriters on IFSF and BYL because of samples/interpolations — and also on School. Oh and Tainy and Feid on RML. Not sure about Stromae’s credit on MSAMS… And the Parisi bros — they are on BYL, I know, but not sure about any other songs… Sorry, I know this is all kind of a sidebar, but I’m just thinking about it all related to potential other recordings that may be unreleased. I just haven’t closely looked at any credits yet, either.) Quote

I thought I remembered reading that, or maybe they spoke about it in an interview — when BYL was released, I remember there was some early media about them and their involvement. I’ll have to find some credits somewhere to see which (other) songs they co-produced. Quote

Apart from Max Martin, I think all of these were only rumors, nothing else. I’d be very surprised if she did something with Elton. I don’t believe it. It is true that there was never any confirmation that M and the Weeknd collaborated further (after Popular). But both were very public in their comments that they would be happy to work together. So it’s reasonable to think something could have happened — we didn’t know about some of M’s collabs until very late (meaning they happened secretly). Honey Dijon and Sickick, though, were more than “just” rumors. Madonna indicated she was working on new stuff with Sickick in a post, and Honey Dijon shared that they worked on new stuff together during official FEL promo (which, if it weren’t true, would have been flagged for edit by Warner publicity folk before publication — and the fact Honey Dijon is still welcome in M’s orbit for this album rollout shows that HD hasn’t been exiled for spilling secret info or something). I never really heard rumors that M worked with Diplo again between MX and C2. But (at least as far as I’m aware) Future being on MX was a surprise — I didn’t know she recorded with Diplo between RH and MX. So it could’ve happened again. (I mean, she did work with Pharrell again between MDNA and RH — originally none of that made the album, but the leaks confirmed unreleased material existed. And then BTUTTB ended up having two lives after that! What’s interesting in that case, too, was that M posted on social media about being in the studio with Pharrell. So we knew it happened, we just didn’t get anything on the next immediate album, RH. So … similar situation to the Max Martin situation … and Sickick … and *almost* the situation with Honey Dijon.) And, yeah, we don’t know she recorded Elton’s song, but they both wrote about it on social media. So … it’s kinda public info. At some point, one or the other is gonna be asked about it and we’ll find out if it has been recorded. I kind of imagine that is how she got connected to Watt. Does Stuart have any prior connection to Watt? (PS - Watt and Cirkut worked on L.E.S. Girl in addition to Danceteria!) (@Nightshade) Quote
