Anybody watching? ⚽

I've only watched Brazil vs. Morocco and wow, Morocco surprised me a lot, rooting for them.

And obviously rooting for Colombia!

No. I boycott the event. I do not support the very obvious sportswashing. But it's not only about the Trump administration, it is about Infantino and FIFA as well. It doesn't get more corrupt. The only option to get rid of the system, is if big football nations from Europe and South America leave FIFA and found a new organization. Without them, the whole system of FIFA will no longer work/bring in the money. The money that is used to support football in poor regions of the world. Which is to be lauded but unfortunately it very much works as a bribe as well. That's why all those African, Asian and small island nations in the Caribean will continue voting for Infantino.

I will end my boycott if Germany plays the finale, because this is the very moment every German suddenly turns into a patriot. If not, I may watch the halftime. But as I mentioned previously, I think I will need to watch that online since the German broadcaster very much likely will not show the halftime. If Germany is in the finale, they will absolutely NOT show the halftime as part of the official broadcast. My opinion remains, the show should have happened before the game.

I wish Germany the best of luck !

I do hope your country as well as mine show the halftime performances, it would be a travesty if they don’t or relegate them to online streaming only.

I do think Germany will win the cup this year.

I watched most of it so far, except the night games. A couple of surprises and some weak performances by European teams. Interesting to see how France and England will manage. I expect everything to get more predictable after the group stage.

the best and funniest thing about the WC so far are the hilarious social media accounts by some „Europoors“ who travel the US right now and praise the shit out of the most mundane things and the US is totally falling for the bit.

I´m boicoting it. I only see the news that tik tok is giving me, mostly things about bad is everything prepared. It´s a shame..

A few  people are doing it around me too, but isn´t it super long this time?

As I predicted, Germany is out. This team for many years is a disgrace. The trainer has shown over and over again, he is incompetent. And course, he sees no reason to step down. Well, he will most likely get the boot. But since his contract runs through 2028, he will walk away with a severance package worth millions. All of this just illustrates what is wrong with Germany currently. It's all a shocking display of an elite that strives by being merely mediocre. Not only in football, also polticians and leaders of economy.  For many years now I get the feeling those footballers going to those world or european championships don't even want to be there. Let's face it, they all are multi millionaires and participating in such championships is financially not a big thing. In case of winning the title they would have made 500.000 each, which is most likely peanuts to them. I don't even think winning the title in 2026 comes with the kind of prestige that would turn into financial gain. I suppose winning the Champions League is much more valuable. Mark my words, in two days we will get pictures of them vacationing at a luxury resort on some tropical island or on a yacht. And their bad performance will have no consequence. And as weird as it sounds, in situations like a global championship, I want a national team to be a little bit patriotic. But no. Instead, we are getting evangelical bullshit, like prayer groups. I am so done with those privileged losers. The next time, they should simply send a team of young unknown players, who are hungry, who see this as a chance. I bet they get further than those who are considered "the best".

And here we are. If there ever was a question if FIFA and Infantino are corrupt, look no further. Trump caling Infantino and all of sudden, the red card penalty of a US player is removed. This is unprecedented. Of course, and rightfully so, everyone is very angry. Well, not everyone. Just saw the US coach on TV praising the decision. And people in the US wonder why the rest of the world is not appreciative (to put it mildly) of the USA. Of course, there is MAGA, but it is also people like this coach who made it very clear that he (and many US citizens) believe rules do not apply to the USA. On the other hand, what is new about that? It is the very same attitude the USA have always shown. The difference is, the rest of the world is no longer looking away.

Im a litte worried now concerning the half time show. If the US manages to cheat their way to the final, which I fully expect by now, this could turn into an international hate fest and everyone involved would suffer from that, also Madonna. The whole idea of a HT show is already not met with excitement, and the overall mood gets worse with each departing team. The referees are the worst, VAR even more worse, performances are mid, and now we have a real political scandal on top of it all. I pray Madonna uses her slot to speak up.

This could happen even without the US cheating its way into the finals.
Regardless, if Orange Hitler shows up in persona and watches the halftime show, I hope she will go scorched earth with her performance.

I have an idea but I don't know how to get it viral. Everyone has a smartphone nowadays and the screen can certainly be turned to red. As a sign of protest, each fan/visitor at the finale, with Trump and Infantino in presence, should do it with their phones and show them the red card. All of them together. Now that would be a sight to behold.

US won't reach the Final. It will most likely be Argentina Vs. France again or a variation that includes England/Spain.

Until this very day I have managed to abstain from all social media. No facebook, no twitter, nothing. And considering the monster social media has become, I suppose this was my most healthy move ever.
