Dilly.Dally Posted June 10 Posted June 10 LS - Pure euphoric bliss. The best thing to come from M since Get Together. OSA - Delicate and beautiful, I have a weakness for dance music with piano. This made me weep during the first listen. I also LOVE the synth during the opening manifesto. GFTS - Can’t get the melody out of my head. The raging beat mixed with her aching lyrics jerk at my heart. IFSF - Pure art. The intro is on another level. BYL - Fun and bouncy, but doesn’t seem as timeless as the tracks above. D - I’ll admit this has grown on me, but I really don’t understand the fuss over it. If what we’ve heard is the prominent vibe of the song I’ll probably skip it on most album replays. Seems a bit flat and generic to me? (Fully realise I’m in the minority and this is a me problem) RML - I actually don’t mind this song and would put it over D if it wasn’t for the feature. But at this point, I’m tired of M and some Latino rapper feature. It’s been done to death. Quote

Hope the full song slaps just as hard, with the prominent drums after the second chorus we heard at the Abbey. What a triumph.) 2. Danceteria (Grabbed me immediately, and I love the production. Love the fact that she brought the Andrew guy in, and it still sounds like a C2 song. Could be a moderate hit!) 3. I Feel So Free (This one was a grower. I was slightly disappointed when I first heard it, but after a week or two, I couldn't get enough of it. Now it's become a signature song for C2 even though it was never a "hit". ) Good 4. Good for the Soul (Another grower. Very solid, amazing production and lyrics. Seems like the perfect song to be placed between IFSF and OSA. I like the verses better than the chorus.) 5. Love Sensation (I think I like the live version better. There's something about Stuart's production on this one that's bothering me. Still, lovely melody, and one of her best bridges in ages.) Ok 6. Bring Your Love (I was hoping BYL would grow on me, but I still find it a bit lackluster. A better lead single than LFL and Medellin, though, that's for sure, with or without Sabrina.) Hmm... 7. Read my Lips (I just can't get into Reggaeton, no matter how hard I try. Seems like an ok song, though, better than all her previous attempts at the genre. But I can see myself skipping this one.) Multiple killer hooks, and that's just in the snippets we've heard so far. 2 I Feel So Free Hypnotically infectious, great replay value. Strong melody and the lyrics are quintessentially M in the best way. 3 Love Sensation Smells like summer. Delightful, breezy, smooth and creamy. My only gripe is that the best hook ("love-sensatio-oh-n") is kind of dumped at the end when it could have been a glorious chorus. 4 Good For The Soul Sounds at once warm and hypercharged, DW(SFL) meets ROL. If the track is as good as the teasers promise it will be one of my favourites. 5 Bring Your Love It's a fun pop confection, but also a bit safe. It doesn't have the "this is undeniable and massive" factor of her greatest lead singles. 6 One Step Away I need to hear more before I form an opinion. For now it gives "strong deep cut" vibes. 7 Read My Lips Easily the most forgettable one so far, but also the one we have heard the least of so could surprise. Quote

I gave 7 points to the favorite song, then one point less for each subsequent song, down to 1 point for the least favorite. I only considered the seven songs from @Musicinferno's original post, without taking any of the remixes into account, or Bizarre. I also only considered those who ranked the 7 songs. Here are the results, in order of preference : 1st place : Good for the soul (90 points, total // 5 average) 2- One Step Away (86 points, total // 4,8 average) 3- Love Sensation (81 points, total // 4.5 average) 3- I Feel so Free (81 points, total // 4.5 average) 5- Danceteria (71 points, total // 3,9 average) 6- Bring Your Love (70 points, total // 3,88 average) 7- Read My Lips (25 points, total // 1,4 average) A few remarks : *Love Sensation and I Feel So Free got the same score. *Good for the Soul tops the overall ranking with 90 points, although it is not the song that received the most first-place votes. *One Step Away actually received the highest number of 7-point scores, with six voters ranking it first, compared with five for Good for the Soul. It seems to inspire more "favorite song" votes but also enough lower rankings to finish second overall. *Read My Lips is by far the least popular song: 12 of the 18 voters gave it the minimum score of 1 and it received no scores of 4, 5, 6, or 7, only 1s, 2s, and a single 3. *I Feel So Free is the most consistently appreciated song: it received seven 6-point scores, no 1s and no 7s, and was almost always ranked near the top without being many voters' absolute favorite. *Love Sensation also shows a very balanced distribution of scores, with a large number of 5-point votes, explaining its strong overall performance. *Danceteria is the most polarizing song: it received four 7-point scores, but also four 1-point scores.
