I can only speak for myself but what would disappoint me FAR more than maybe not connecting with an album she does as much because it's just not my thing (but it's something different for her) would be if she did the same sort of thing over and over within diminishing results or just went on autopilot. It depresses me to think that there are actually fans out there that would like for Madonna to basically be on COADF part 5 at this point....lol. Idc what the core demo of her fanbase is, the day Madonna says "oh I have to do THIS sound because most of my fans are 55 yr old gay men" is the day I would be somewhat disappointed in her. Yes, I fully realize CII is a choice and there probably is a bit of that rationale in her reasoning for doing it at this point (pure speculation on my part obviously) but after 20 yrs of going in different directions, it IS time for something like this so it makes complete sense. In regard to the second part of your post, I kind of think of this in the opposite way though, the album is COADF2 but RML IS another facet of dance music and the album version (what we've heard) IS very much aligned with the CII sound but still deviates enough to stand out a bit. To go back to my original point, with someone that's as diverse as Madonna, I would *think maybe fans would be more accepting of ONE song that isn't straight "obvious" COADF formula but....if we really are at the stage where everything MUST be a potential "dance chart ready banger" then it is what it is I suppose...lol. Prayer85 Posted June 26 Posted June 26 It’s true that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some of you write truly nasty, nonsensical comments. You don’t understand a thing about music, art, versatility, or having fun. The moment a song doesn't seem "faggy" enough for you, you immediately start having panic attacks. Just relax. You sound like haters. You’re giving me a headache! In the meantime, M has given you IFSF, BYL, and LS. Thanks. Quote
impr3ssive_instant Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I love this song. It's my second favorite she's released so far. I knew most of the gays would hate it. Quote
AlanLongoria Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Lord this is Fifa's Version, the studio one could be completely different and fit the album...my goodness. I personally love the track and I love it when Madonna flirts with Latin sounds and Spanish. And I agree that all the whining in here is a total vibe killer. Madonna's biggest recurrent hit is a latin infused track by the way, La Isla Bonita is the only song charting in some countries on Spotify, Like A Prayer has vanished. La Isla Bonita Spotify: #153 Switzerland (+29) #176 Germany (NE) #184 Austria (NE) Quote

One thing is if you don’t like the track, that’s ok. But she has the right to do the step the way that she wants, she earned it. If it works, well. Otherwise, it’s not the first time she (or anyone else) fails, she took the risk. Don’t act as it is personal, any of us should keep a life to live despite of any M decision. One last note: what if she’s saving a Shakira collaboration in the pocket? Edited June 26 by rodials Quote

"isaac" is one of my favorite songs from the first album and some fans to this day still say it doesn't belong. if she put a polka song on the new album and it was a banger, i'd support its inclusion. promise to try Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I have to say that I don´t think this song is a classic, but, maybe because I wasn´t expecting one, I´m enjoying it.I wonder which are the differences between this and the album version.I still don´t like the treatment of her voice I asume this will be the song from the album that she will sing in the Trump peace price show? I just played Ready My Lips like 10 times while working out at the gym, and the song is pure fire. It will be great for the FIFA Halftime. 10X times better than Medellin and 100X times better than Spanish Lesson and any other crap some people here are comparing it to. Quote

The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Surprisingly, there are lots of layers and lots of detail in the music and the vocals—it's excellent. Quote

Mr Ciccone Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I've been listening to it and singing it all day... I think the full version is going to slap hard! Quote
Michael. Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I’m not sure about some of the meltdowns. The song is perfectly fine and listenable. Yes it does sound different from the rest of CII but I think it works for FIFA. If I had to predict what the halftime will be I’d say it will be RML going into HU. Maybe with a bit of the “Thanks for coming” and “It all started like this” from IFSF. Also hopefully the song makes it onto the FIFA27 video game. That would definitely give her huge exposure as it’s one of the biggest video games in the world. Quote

It's like if she deviates from that exact COADF-esque formula then there are meltdowns and what she's doing is "wrong"......and god forbid there's an "urban" flair to anything. Idk...it's all a little coded to me. Just sayin. Has anyone even bothered to look at the rest of the songs on the FIFA album itself?? I think this song sits better among those songs than something like IFSF would.....and I'm saying that as someone that far prefers IFSF and basically everything else we've heard from the album so far but this song and this version makes sense to me in the context of what it's for. And i dont think ifsf is really that related to the first album...just the future lovers bite..but for the rest of the songs..i think the album is called c2 for marketing ..as everyone is looking for that...but im sure it will be complete different album...and I'm happy with that. Fitho Posted June 27 Posted June 27 The problem that I have with the song is that I always get George H W Bush vibes: "Read my lips, no new taxes" Otherwise it's at least fun to listen to and the melody gets stuck in your head like an earworm. Quote

reQuiem4adream Posted June 27 Posted June 27 So apparently there’s a full mv of this track! When will she release it tho? Quote
V.K Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I really enjoy this track, connected to it immediately, no denying . Does not directly fit into the darkroom/clubland promo aesthetic they've dreamed up for the album but it's very Madonna, in a certain way. Also love the lyrics Quote
