Which is why I said in the other thread that I think what fans were expecting for this week is what actually will happen next week to align with album launch and streams for the first week. This week is about expanding the audience and setting the stage for fifa. Next week is about maximal engagement with the full global audience for the album, hopefully supported by pushing the song that has had or has the potential to resonate most with the entire audience. Like Danceteria/bizarre/OSA etc…

As we say in German "your words in God's ears". I don't expect anything anymore

From 'what' we heard in the movie this is technically better & as I said more polished. The 1st minute or so (vocals, vibe, melody & production) have some Pat Leonard-esque elements at x which will always be her magnum opus 'Latin pop sound' era. But I don't care for the last minute. Kind of deflates & goes in a different direction for me esp production wise. If she just repeated the same lyrics w/ a similar (but a more elevated production of the 1st minute) would click for me more.

It's why I and many of us keep insisting until we get the FULL versions of every single song all the LQ & HQ clips (overall) haven't meant much vs. the final/complete song. Warner has been beyond brilliant w/ keeping the M loon base & casual masses famished (locked in 24/7). That alone should assure she bags up very decent...maybe strong 1st week #s. They've succeeded so far vs any other era basically since COAD 1.

the FIFA version only has 1 verse/chorus then the Feid part and then a different version of the pre-chorus and the chorus to end. The album version will have a second verse and repeat the first pre-chorus/chorus again.

I think I'm a minority here, but I really like it. I think it didin't blend well with the other songs on Confessions II film but IMO this Fifa version really works as a stand alone song, and it sounds more football friendly than IFSF or Danceteria to be honest.

lol probably the best approach in life

It works as a random summery world cup song. She's covering all bases... Il like the melody of her verses but the 'rhythm' part is very basic and cliché in its production. When the beat kicks in :electropop: Not for me.

I think it’s just fine and not sure why folks are being so dramatic.

The chorus is so catchy 🔥

I like this song and this FIFA version will be very good for her performance where I can imagine everyone will be dancing together. 💃 🕺

its not random, it works well also in the film and i bet on the album too

So what's the drama? Is it out?

Yep. And half of the forum is in urgent care, as usual.

MadonnaNation is a soap opera, that's why.

People forgot that the original COADF also include arabic type of music on Isaac and Push...so not everything was pure dance pop.

not my favorite but i'm keeping an open mind about how it will fit into the album. my biggest issue with the song is (again) the vocal production. like, is did old mic they insisted on using rust?

those are two of my favorites so for me it's not about whether something is in another language or musical style. if it's a good song, it's a good song. this one i don't really care for, but i'm curious about the full version - it's almost 5 minutes so maybe it goes somewhere unexpected.

I think this version is for the show...and I find weird that she releases it now and not the week of the final  on 20 days or something...or even the same day.

it's just an edit. and it makes sense to release now as another taste of the album before it drops next week. hardcore fans are already locked in, so i see this as part of a strategy to widen the net.

It's definitely a grower. Can't wait to hear the album version. A little generic, for sure, but perfect for summertime.

True.

But the World Cup final is 3 weeks away, so not too long.

And the Shakira track for FIFA has been out for ages.

The song coming out now gives it chance to be truly associated with FIFA World Cup. It’s building up anticipation for her appearance there.

To put Feid there already gave her more headlines so I think is a good way to expand the audience.

That’s great!

No headlines over here, but Fied isn’t very well known over here in the U.K.

I’m assuming Shakira is taking Bunny with her & Madonna is taking Feid with her.

A true Latin extravaganza!

Even if someone doesn’t like it because it is latin influenced, who cares??? If you don’t like latin music, that’s fine! That’s called freedom.

sometimes I don’t like latin music. I also don’t like turkish music and I’m turkish.

i also don’t like Chinese food. Or Prada. This isn’t a bias. It is called preference.

i just don’t like the idea of someone saying “some people don’t like it just because it is latin.” No… maybe they just think the song sucks and that’s OK

Some fans were hating the song as soon as they saw the Latin/Reaggeton guest featuring, that's clearly bias.

It's Burna Boy. I think he mixed the names.

It's interesting to me that someone with as varied of a catalog of music as Madonna, at some point within the past 20 yrs, has been somewhat pigeonholed by her diehard fans as a "dance artist" (in the vein of Kylie). It's like if she deviates from that exact COADF-esque formula then there are meltdowns and what she's doing is "wrong"......and god forbid there's an "urban" flair to anything. Idk...it's all a little coded to me. Just sayin.

Has anyone even bothered to look at the rest of the songs on the FIFA album itself?? I think this song sits better among those songs than something like IFSF would.....and I'm saying that as someone that far prefers IFSF and basically everything else we've heard from the album so far but this song and this version makes sense to me in the context of what it's for.

This.

One of the awesome things about Madonna is how varied she is. Unlike many other artists (like Mariah, Celine, Kylie, Taylor etc) - she has and continues to experiment with wide varieties of music throughout her career. She has covered so many genres - pop, dance, hip hop, country-esque, rock, latin influenced, experimental, ballads, collabs. I love it.

Exactly! And don't get me wrong, COADF is one of my fave M albums of all time and CII is shaping up to sit right alongside it in my ranking. It's undeniable the excitement for this so far is palpable amongst the fans (and even extending beyond that a bit I'm noticing at this point) and I LOVE that (truly a breath of fresh air!!) but if every album followed that same sort of sound, then it wouldn't be as special. I've been immersing myself in Madonna's music (again! lol) the past month or so and I absolutely love that something like AL precedes COADF and MX precedes CII. It really is a fascinating journey when you're listening to it chronologically.

i don't think it's that complicated. madonna's remaining core fanbase is older and very gay. there's a reason why divas lean into dance music in their later years.

anyway, fans should know better by now, but it's literally called COADF2. the meltdowns were foretold in the scriptures. 🤷‍♂️

I don‘t listen to any Madonna music since last week as I want to have a really fresh experience next Friday and it‘s really funny to read this thread. I don‘t have a clue if it‘s good or bad 😆
