Only that the main artist is Madonna and is singing in english (and some parts in spanish) I haven’t listened to it yet myself but hearing it sounds like what many Latin artists have been bringing the last few years doesn’t exactly sound great either in terms of her bringing something different or more elevated with this song Quote
Silverfox Posted June 26 Posted June 26 It just feels odd to come back with a massive dance album and then choose the weakest and least dancey track, which isn’t representative of the album at all, to perform on the biggest stage of her life to promote it. But I’ll stop complaining now until we see the performance! Quote

systemvalues Posted June 26 Posted June 26 M gave a fantastic performance blending LIB and 'Lela Pala Tute' during the Live Earth. I don't think that part of the set was any less appreciated than 'Hey You'... I'm looking forward to seeing the performance live. Quote

Icykiller Posted June 26 Posted June 26 5 minutes ago, Beastialg said: Because it fits the Fifa Finale theme and vibe. How so? It's a song about two lovers arguing about something. How this telenovela plot fits with the theme, other than it is Latin flavored, and Latinos love football? Don’t get me wrong, I hope the stretegy works, and she gets lots of positive promo from this. But as a song representing the album... well... Quote
Rain Posted June 26 Posted June 26 The fact that us gays are so negative toward the song is a good sign. This is for the straight football fans... which unfortunately are a large chunk of humanity. I personally think it's a very good choice, perfect track for the summer heatwaves. Quote

Silverfox Posted June 26 Posted June 26 2 minutes ago, Mr Ciccone said: But how do you know any of this? Ok yes that’s fair. Of the 8 tracks I’ve heard - either clips or in full - RML is the weakest in my opinion. Just now, dollhouse said: judging from the clips The album has many styles of dance music and This is definetly "dancey" as well It’s not what I’d expect to hear in a club, which is how they are selling this album, but I suppose you can dance to it. To be clear, I don’t hate the song. I just don’t think it is the best choice to perform at the World Cup. But in cases like this, I usually think we should trust her judgment and wait to see/hear the final result. So that’s what I’ll do. Quote

I don’t know your name, but let’s say it’s "Benny" and that shortly after introducing yourself to some people, they start mangling it—calling you Bunny, Bonny, or Binny... how would you take that? Well, that’s what happened to "La Bambola." Quote
jonur Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Even if someone doesn’t like it because it is latin influenced, who cares??? If you don’t like latin music, that’s fine! That’s called freedom. sometimes I don’t like latin music. I also don’t like turkish music and I’m turkish. i also don’t like Chinese food. Or Prada. This isn’t a bias. It is called preference. i just don’t like the idea of someone saying “some people don’t like it just because it is latin.” No… maybe they just think the song sucks and that’s OK Quote

systemvalues Posted June 26 Posted June 26 We all have preferences; the point is that expressing them doesn't mean we have to disparage what we don't like. Of course, everyone acts as they see fit, but if we offend others, we shouldn't expect a box of chocolates in return. Quote
Mr.Candy Posted June 26 Posted June 26 8 minutes ago, Beastialg said: Because it fits the Fifa Finale theme and vibe. Shakira made the official song for FIFA and will sing it again st the final. So we need another FIFA-Song? A song what's going directly in this direction? No! Bad Bunny or any other artist in one of the three opening shows didn't made a FIFA/soccer-theme-Song The question is: What is the intention of this performance? Get in the head of the people again? Then she will sing a classic and RML. The people will listen "Celebration" again and push it back in the Top100. Or its the intention to promote her new album? Then she should choose one of her strongest songs (and a classic). It's obvious that the success of the album (in the first week after release and at her biggest audience in her entire career) is connected with a song with huge hit-potential. ChatGPT was "calculating" a few days ago that the preformed song can make a difference between 100k and 1m more sold albums.... So... lets get out of our M-bubble and think like GP: would you buy, download or stream the new album, if you listen to RML as "the new Madonna-Song" - and sorry, thats it for more than 90% of the people who are watching this. For the main crowd: RML is THE new Madonna-Song. Quote

Look; end of the day it’s a nice little bop and the football crowd will take to a Latin track with some cool rapping, and the track isn’t awful (I know some adore it not to my taste). But The song in no way shape or form represents the album so I feel the choice to take it to FIFA is more to stratify the event for a quick thrill over promoting the album. Because CII is not a Latino album. Quote

Confessions on a Dance Floor came out when I was in high school and it slaps. I may be in the minority, but there are some of us. I’m a huge classic rock and EDM fan but I think Madonna is a creative genius which is why I’ve been a fan for so long. Quote

Ciccone's Cheeks Posted June 26 Posted June 26 From 'what' we heard in the movie this is technically better & as I said more polished. The 1st minute or so (vocals, vibe, melody & production) have some Pat Leonard-esque elements at x which will always be her magnum opus 'Latin pop sound' era. But I don't care for the last minute. Kind of deflates & goes in a different direction for me esp production wise. If she just repeated the same lyrics w/ a similar (but a more elevated production of the 1st minute) would click for me more. It's why I and many of us keep insisting until we get the FULL versions of every single song all the LQ & HQ clips (overall) haven't meant much vs. the final/complete song. Warner has been beyond brilliant w/ keeping the M loon base & casual masses famished (locked in 24/7). That alone should assure she bags up very decent...maybe strong 1st week #s. They've succeeded so far vs any other era basically since COAD 1. Quote

dollhouse Posted June 26 Posted June 26 the latin guitar riff melody is incredible, best since LIB/WTG Quote

This week is about expanding the audience and setting the stage for fifa. Next week is about maximal engagement with the full global audience for the album, hopefully supported by pushing the song that has had or has the potential to resonate most with the entire audience. Like Danceteria/bizarre/OSA etc… Quote
