I haven’t listened to it yet myself but hearing it sounds like what many Latin artists have been bringing the last few years doesn’t exactly sound great either in terms of her bringing something different or more elevated with this song

It just feels odd to come back with a massive dance album and then choose the weakest and least dancey track, which isn’t representative of the album at all, to perform on the biggest stage of her life to promote it. But I’ll stop complaining now until we see the performance!

M gave a fantastic performance  blending LIB and 'Lela Pala Tute' during the Live Earth. I don't think that part of the set was any less appreciated than 'Hey You'... I'm looking forward to seeing the performance live.

judging from the clips The album has many styles of dance music and This is definetly "dancey" as well

Ok yes that’s fair. Of the 8 tracks I’ve heard - either clips or in full - RML is the weakest in my opinion.

It’s not what I’d expect to hear in a club, which is how they are selling this album, but I suppose you can dance to it. 
 

To be clear, I don’t hate the song. I just don’t think it is the best choice to perform at the World Cup. But in cases like this, I usually think we should trust her judgment and wait to see/hear the final result. So that’s what I’ll do.

Even if someone doesn’t like it because it is latin influenced, who cares??? If you don’t like latin music, that’s fine! That’s called freedom.

Look; end of the day it’s a nice little bop and the football crowd will take to a Latin track with some cool rapping, and the track isn’t awful (I know some adore it not to my taste).

But

The song in no way shape or form represents the album so I feel the choice to take it to FIFA is more to stratify the event for a quick thrill over promoting the album. Because CII is not a Latino album.

Wrong — straight man here. Confessions on a Dance Floor came out when I was in high school and it slaps.

I may be in the minority, but there are some of us. I’m a huge classic rock and EDM fan but I think Madonna is a creative genius which is why I’ve been a fan for so long.

the new big single would have to have a feature and This has it + she will perform it on WC, so its a natural, obvious choice

another option is if Charli/Kylie or other artist will be on some other single potential

From 'what' we heard in the movie this is technically better & as I said more polished. The 1st minute or so (vocals, vibe, melody & production) have some Pat Leonard-esque elements at x which will always be her magnum opus 'Latin pop sound' era. But I don't care for the last minute. Kind of deflates & goes in a different direction for me esp production wise. If she just repeated the same lyrics w/ a similar (but a more elevated production of the 1st minute) would click for me more. 

It's why I and many of us keep insisting until we get the FULL versions of every single song all the LQ & HQ clips (overall) haven't meant much vs. the final/complete song. Warner has been beyond brilliant w/ keeping the M loon base & casual masses famished (locked in 24/7). That alone should assure she bags up very decent...maybe strong 1st week #s. They've succeeded so far vs any other era basically since COAD 1.

Which is why I said in the other thread that I think what fans were expecting for this week is what actually will happen next week to align with album launch and streams for the first week. This week is about expanding the audience and setting the stage for fifa. Next week is about maximal engagement with the full global audience for the album, hopefully supported by pushing the song that has had or has the potential to resonate most with the entire audience. Like Danceteria/bizarre/OSA etc…
