I really wanted my first listen to be the non-stop version, but assuming it won't be available on Spotify (at least for now), I'll have to think of plan B since I don't think Waner Brazil will make the CDs available on July 3 - might take at least a week.

Besides, there are no record stores in São Paulo anymore, and Amazon Brazil is so unrealible deliverywise.

^i will stream my expansive non-stop vinyl set, only flipping sides 4 times between songs 😄

He also said he was canceling some of the stock he pre-ordered since most people at the store he talked to already pre-ordered the album from other sources. He definitely had other Madonna albums for sale, I think he thought more people would have ordered at the event.

Yeah, I heard him say that, too … I imagine the indie exclusive could have been the popular one for people to order. For a while, that was the one that was more difficult to get for U.S. fans. (I don’t think that one is available at any big U.S. chains — the Target one is the pink one…) Anyway, he also said he was satisfied with what was ordered by fans who were there. He just said he was going to have to adjust the quantities of what he had pre-ordered because he “was never gonna sell that many Madonna records.” But he also said he had 50 people RSVP and 25 people show up. (I didn’t even know there was an RSVP! I hope it wasn’t rude that I crashed the preview party!)

I imagine it is hard in general for little independent record stores in the current environment. They really should have some exclusive just for them if they are going to rely on them as an avenue to generate excitement. (Sorta like RSD, so that you have to go through the store to get it … and then, after release day, you can sell them online. It’s a hassle for fans, but it would increase sales at those little shops.)

I ordered A LOT of variants, LOL, but my Amazon orders should arrive on Friday and that will be the 16 track CD and the 16 track vinyl - I bought these so I would have copies on release day (and the only copies I will open) because it's hard to get delivery on release day from any other source - whichever comes first will be listened to first, BUT that evening I plan on making a cocktail and putting the vinyl on the turntable and taking it all in.

I will not stream it first, although I have an Alexa dot connected to a great sound system. I want to hear the vinyl on that system, but if the vinyl is delayed I will settle for the CD.

I’m so confused has DrownedMadonna told us how we are allowed to listen to it?

I used to dream about going to record stores and finding all l kinds of bootlegs that don't exist when I was a teen. 😅

i've had lots of those dreams, including one about this album (although i can't remember the details). the one dream that stands out in my memory is right before the "bedtime story" single was released. i just remember dreaming about purchasing the CD maxi, although i don't remember the specifics. it was just very exciting in my mind. 😆

all we know is all the physical formats were noted as continuous mix. they havent said anything about streaming different?? - except that the songs we have so far clearly dont have any transitions in them.

would be smart if they uploaded both versions (as long as they're linked/merged). i see the value of having the non-mixed version on streaming since people shuffle, add songs to playlists, etc.

I still have these kind of dreams but the bootlegs always have new songs on them,
I love those dreams but at the same time, this is so frustrating when you wake up,

Finding a bootleg (pre internet) in a record store was like finding a treasure…Some of these titles we’d only find out about through trading lists via (postal) mail.

My friend and I would scout record stores and figure out when the sales reps for these labels would come in and we’d ambush them :rotfl:
For my fourteenth birthday my mum got me The Girlie Show in PARIS on cd…and this was before the show was out on video…I almost cried.

so yeah these dreams were special.

Warner's emailed to say they've shipped my order! I think it must be the Grindr pic disc from the US so will arrive in about three weeks!

Bootlegs like this were not commons in the city where I live.

1st time I went in France, in 1993, I stumbled upon a flea market, and there were so many M bootlegs, I spent all the money I had on those. :rotfl:
Some were great qualities, while others were really bad, haha

Yeah, sorry if I didn’t make sense… People use “RSVP” as a verb to mean they have registered their intent to attend a certain function or event. I saw the list here (shared by a kind member who uploaded the photos that listed out which record stores in which states were holding preview events on June 27 or June 28) … so that is how I discovered there was an event happening locally for me. I checked the website of the record store to determine the date/time of the event. I didn’t see anything there that indicated they would like to know how many people were planning to attend or anything like that. (There was no “RSVP” requested.) Maybe they asked for that on social media or something.

I’d never been to that record store before — hadn’t even heard of it, actually! Owner said he had been in that location (with that name) for about a year (one year and three months). Prior to that, it was under a different name in a different location (but same neighborhood). So, from a business standpoint for him, it was good to host this event. Now I know about his store and I’ve stepped foot into it — so I’m more likely to go back in the future.

I got an email today that the 2 versions I ordered on jpc have been picked up by DHL. So I might get them early.

That was his goal.😉
