It started with Madame X where she doesn't make eye contact and acts like she's really thinking about everything seriously. It's very affected. Where’s the joy and smiling of the ordinary confessions era? Sorry to bring it back to the grillz again but I think that’s the main reason she isn’t very smiley when she talks with them in. Her face totally changes they restrict her emotions and kind of force her to be subdued and flat. I don’t personally think she would be able to smile and chat the same with them in and I think that it certainly contributes to her not being able to freely smile I don’t think I’ve ever seen her chatting with them in and smiling properly…….
Mr Ciccone Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Someone over on MadonnaInfinity clipped the entire segment from the KICK live stream (over 30 minutes including his reaction at the end) https://we.tl/t-gbtypo4oEm8F778h
markm Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Gymskin meeting with Madonna has been clipped and is all over Instagram already.
smirnoff_ice Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I watched the whole M segment, just like most of her recent interviews, she comes across too stiff. Obviously they have nothing in common to chat about and he is not a professional interviewer about her album or new music. So the whole thing ended up being forced and cringe. Music was too loud, went over and over in a loop, they couldn’t hear each other etc etc Let’s see if it will help IFSF Peggy Gou remix.

The tragic thing is (or just a sign of the times) the fact the clips are now all over IG & TicTok and gathering pace that Gymskin met Madonna, is the only interaction an entire generation will have with Madonna. That’s 2026 for you!
KalamazooJay Posted May 29 Posted May 29 This interview clearly wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. Seemed kind of unnecessary tbh. Fine, but forgettable. That podcast she did with Jay Shetty proved she still has A LOT to say and is extremely insightful when she’s in the right environment and asked the right questions. I always loved the chemistry between her and Cynthia McFadden, personally.
Benjl1993 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 It's a bit cringe, they're not natural bedfellows so they both seem a little awkward with each other, and when she's doing the shoulder bop to IFSF when the beat cuts out... Lol. Anyway, most of the comments I've seen on clips on Instagram surprisingly aren't that negative so maybe it's not a total fail.

There's still the intelligence - it's just harder to access everything they know in order to immediately make all of the connections they wish in conversation. She was also known as an insightful person, for good reason, so she wants to keep speaking intelligently. That introduces a pressure. Everything she says will be litigated or quoted or otherwise remembered. Knowing that probably makes it harder for her to speak off the cuff. Seriously, she is not 90 years oldShe was known as an insightful person....your wording is really off. The grillz don't help, she doesn't know the guy, he is not prepared at all and she has become very guarded in the last years. You can really tell who she feels safe and comfortable with being herself. Don't turn everything into an age thing. She gets enough of that from haters. I feel like she was hamming it up because the guy brought no content. He was the one livestreaming, not her. She was generous enough to let him hang out,way too long. Saw one clip saying she was having a fitting, so she was working well into the evening.

Its a tad cringe as Gymskin doesn’t seem to be into it whatsoever G & M are in completely different worlds, but it is funny M showing him her album, and his responses being a little dry to say the least It’s like when you invite your bit of str8 rough trade round and he looks at your DVD collection…… When she shows her album and he says : Oh yeah, I'll buy it but totally disinterested. Dead !

VogueMusic Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I feel like a lot of folks in this fanbase don’t get the landscape of new media, and how people promote now. It’s not the 80s, or the 90s, or the 00s, or even the 10s. The world is entirely different now folks.

I think we just want to see her sit down and discuss how the album came to fruition, her insight on the record, etc. These are the sorts of things we got from her interviews that we aren't going to get from 6 minute videos on Grindr or 30 second Tiktoks.

Icykiller Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I get the 'times have changed' thing. But I'd prefer her to sit in her bathroom to record a video as usual and talk about the music. Fuck! Even sing a song or two.

But I agree, these short & snappy clips online are how it’s done now. 12 minutes ago, *mlvc* said: True, and I agree. Yeh this. It’s all good fun but all a bit of light hearted nonsense, and I say that being a fan of the grindr clip ! She’s kind of sending herself up in a way, which I appreciate, because it’s all just for the crack

Don’t get me wrong though, I definitely want at least one good music focused interview just as you said. Hopefully we’ll get it closer to the album release…maybe someone like that Zane Lowe guy…? I still think of that one Madame X interview for Apple that we never got in full…

There's actually loads of long form stuff that she could do nowadays: Zane Lowe, fashion neurosis, Therapuss, triple j, Derrick gee, all varying from music focused to general gen z bluff. It's just a matter of whether or not she wants to do something like that. The Kabbalah podcast showed she's willing to and it actually had positive impact on her image, wether the subject bored some or not
Benjl1993 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Podcasts/YouTube are obviously more impactful than the old TV shows these days, I'd just like to hear her talk about the music either way.

We will of course get this next Friday with the premiere of the long form video, but we need something more mainstream. At 40 years old I don't have my pulse on what Gen Z is looking at but does it really matter that much? They aren't going to buy her music, most of them anyway since she does have some younger fans.
Confessit II Posted May 29 Posted May 29 And we all thought the promo was drying up ahead of CONFESSIONS II @ TriBeCa next week! How wrong we were!
