yep and thankfully madonna didnt change her tune coz sabrina fans

well, putting aside whether BYL is the best song on the album (I wager it's not), i'm talking about 80s/90s-style house. dance-pop (even disco-inspired dance-pop) is still popular. there's obviously going to be other styles of dance music on the album, including IFSF.

house music is not popular with the youngins. i've been saying this for weeks (months?). they even prefer disco.

Ehm not all youngins. I go out to dance to house music and there are young ppl enjoying on the same dancefloor

the idea was/is good: sing a song with a younger popular singer. And, this time, the song sounds like madonna, and it´s a good song, maybe not marvelous, but good, in the context of the album it will sound great.

But, if it works for the streams, well, that´s another story.

obviously not all. but not enough to make it a top genre in 2026. beyonce, ari, and others have all tried and found out that their non-house follow-up singles perform better. for madonna's fans it's great. but for a wider reach, it's not the most marketable genre. the recent dance hits have all been more synth-pop or disco. (see sabrina's own hits.)

alan beat me to it, but it's going for radio adds this week. official adds usually happen at the start of the week, not weekends

you are right , it's on the top songs section on both z100 and kiis fm .It was the weekend indeed

Wow she’s getting some top billing on Z100, that’s good to hear.

So it appears Warners are seriously driving it on American radio this week then.

These are facts.

I love BYL, but I do get on board totally with what you are saying, it isn’t very palatable for 2026 mainstream.

Its a strange thing because it is radio friendly, its short enough for Spotify & has Sabrina on it (although it’s very different for even her fans) and it’s Madonna’s catchiest lead single is decades, but it is still very much on the outside of what’s hot if we are talking purely about charts/trending.

its very Madonna stomper , shes in charge and Sabrina fits in like a glove (her voice pleasent whispery there)

its like she wouldve put Rihanna (or some other current chick at the time) on Give It 2 Me or Gurls Gone Wild

good taste👍send him Inner City and Black Box albums for starters

Already on it... I sent him Good Life when I heard M was using it as a sample. He did say he liked BYL and asked if it was Madonna.

I agree it’s quintessential Madonna ! I don’t know if I’d call it a stomper but it’s a great song and a great lead.

Just out of curiosity. This song debuted late on Thursday, so we may as well say Friday. It is now Monday and I am gathering here on the forum that it's not doing well but I am seeing it all over social media and the numbers I've heard are promising.

Am I missing something?

Social Media is driven by algorithms. The more Madonna content you see, the more you get. The main question is if there are enough people streaming her new songs. This is not much the case, at least not enough to appear in the biggest charts. Another factor is the cultural significance, which can't be denied, but also not measured reliably

That's right. My feeds are full of M because I search for her, play her, interact with posts about her... so I see more of her and about her as a result.

If we are talking about algorithms & people’s social media being full of content then releasing BYL the Friday of Coachella means it would have massively benefitted from all the attention online. It was totally free & very much happening promotion of the song.

There was loads of it over that entire weekend immediately after the Coachella performance.

Im not being negative it’s just a reflection based on people’s algorithms.

I think there was potential for BYL to gain a lot more streams that weekend than the last one just gone.

For a Madonna first single (after Living for Love and Medellín) it's doing great. But expectations were high because of Sabrina's involvement.

I still think it should have been released in the week directly after Coachella

Yeh me too.

There was an onslaught of positive press & fanfare for the performance online, so dropping the track right in the middle of all that would have benefited it. The press & social media were raving about it for the entire weekend after Coachella.

I don’t see any benefit whatsoever to have waited 2 weeks and kept the track back.

I think the intention was first to release a Madonna solo song which feels 100% like a COAD type of track and then go with the big collab. It work in a way since reception for IFSF was great, and most fans wanted a Madonna solo song in the first place.

But for BYL chart performance it would have been better to be released first, the same Friday she performed at Coachella.

I agree with all of that.

But the warm reception for IFSF was always going to be there for the fabulous album opener. Whether it came first OR second to BYL.

The opportunity to springboard BYL to a massive fanfare like Coachella wasn’t always going to be there, so I think they should have just taken the opportunity to strike whilst the iron was hot.

I just don’t see the logic, IFSF was never going to compete commercially but BYL absolutely is, so why not grab the fantastic timing and release it in the glory of Coachella. Not a fortnight later when it’s all died down and it’s even more of an up hill struggle to get it to stick.

Agree. Instead of striking while the iron was hot they waited until it was lukewarm.
