I love your Playlist!

Thank you. I tried to base it off the spirit of IFSF and BYL to make a nice, cohesive playlist that celebrates the new M music.

Do you guys think there will be any news today regarding a music video?

I really hope so but I’m really surprised there’s been zero teasers for it.

It the 2 ladies are stepping out together tonight on the MET red carpet tonight, it will generate headlines and some buzz so that would be a great time to drop the clip, especially if it’s as epic as reported to be 😍

But I have a feeling Warners might be going for a longer game in trying to build up BYL over a longer period so the video might be kept for next week instead 🤔

Right. 😄

I have the fear that without a video or performances the interest on the song will fade fast. This is critical specially in the firstvweek. Tbh I am not sure if an appearance on the Met Gala can give the song a boost.

I share your thoughts completely.

The momentum of BYL is fast & furious, I think it will drop quickly without a video to keep it flying.

I can’t see any more performances on the immediate horizon, and tonight might be the last time we see M&S together, unless there’s some additional promo planned with the 2 together later on like an interview ? Or a performance on SNL or something?

So this week is the most important week so I hope the video is premiered.

I think MET can boost the song if they show up together & discuss the track on the red carpet, that will produce some press and buzz but it will be minor but all these little things will add up this week towards BYL total.

I am not sure. MET is known by a niche. We need the song to be exposed to more people and the video can definitely help

Warners has definitely had a strategy with this release so I'm hoping they know what they're doing regarding the best time to release the video... but I want it NOW

I agree it’s niche but tying it up with the video premier would give it a bit of platform.

I hope it’s not too late by the time they release it.

I do think there was always a bit of time planned anyways between the song & video because they released the visualiser.

Im unsure if they would have done that IF they planned to release the music video the same week as the track?

But they can change plans as they keep an eye on how the song is tracking.

The main question is what the strategy is. If Warner wants the song to chart on BB for example, this week is decisive and therefore the video needs to be released today or tomorrow. If the strategy is to generate interest on the album (pre-orders), they will invest long-term

exactly , i also don't see any push on US radio ,for example z100 in NY only played the song once in 3 days and that today after midnight

I think Warners will have half an eye on  chart placement in some territories for BYL, and there’s obviously some deals happening behind the scenes with some radio stations & the billboard advert  placements for BYL + the playlisting on Spotify. So they care enough about it doing something chart wise.

I do think there’s a long-haul plan for the album and to boost the pre orders, as the album and a #1 debut across the world with the variants so far, organic marketing approach with posters/the first club gig and I’m sure there’s a ton more planned as there’s still 2 months to go until CONFESSIONS II is released.

So I do think it matters where BYL lands after its first full week of traction. As you say THIS WEEK is the decisive week that will set the tone for BYL, so I believe it’s the very best week for the video. I love the song, but I don’t think its ability to be a grower is strong at all, and its chart debut will be its highest, not just in America but over here in the U.K. as well. So the video will lift the song some more this week and goes towards its total for the weeks sales units with the additional hits

In a nutshell, any promo Warners have planned to support the track needs to be front loaded and dropped this week in my opinion. In terms of the charts purely (I am not saying they are be all and end all just an analogy), drip feeding the promo over several weeks for BYL won’t benefit the songs placement on the charts.

As others have said, the Met Gala isn't going to give the song any additional traction because most of the GP doesn't really even know it exists. SNL is also a dying platform for keeping the interest of the general public.

The only thing that is going to give the song a push is to release the video NOW.

Waiting isn't going to do M or Warner any favors.

Yes, they are the experts here, but we know how this game works and in this fast paced here to day and gone tomorrow world waiting around isn't wise.

At this point the album is going to do just this: It will debut most likely at number 1 upon it's release week and then plummet. Most SC fans aren't going to buy the album and for the most part only current M fans are going to buy it and most likely already have aside from the push we will see the week of the release for those who want to go buy it in person.

What Warner needs to focus on right now is get BYL into at least the top 20 on the US Hot 100. That would be a success at this point because as I said above, the album sales themselves are going to be really good so I think she has a number 1 debut in the bag already.

They have the ability to boost a track though.

But overall I agree, music videos are pretty much dead.

But the video has the ability to become a bit of a talking point and to be shared across the socials. I would imagine once it’s out Sabrina will promote it on her own social media platform as well, giving it a bigger audience.

So I agree is essence a music video doesn’t have anywhere near the prestige it once did BUT it can and does boost a songs profile.

For BYL a video could absolutely be the difference between a debut in Top 50 or 40 in America, and Top 30 or 20 in the U.K.

Yeh that’s true.

I suspect the only performance this side of the album dropping of BYL will be what we got at Coachella.

The next time I think they might perform it is on Madonna’s tour at one of the dates.

But I might be wrong, but are there any big events coming up for a performance of BYL to promote it? Other than a TV special performance somewhere? As you say SNL is dying BUT it would still be super promo on America.
The American Music Awards are 3 weeks away, I think that’s a bit late and the song would have run its course by then….

You're correct that they don't count AS much, but that's pretty much the only card they have to play to boost interest in the song because a good video would increase buzz.

Seems like BYL doesn't connect as we would like it to. Its addictive, but it needs at least couple of listens and I am unsure if all of those who played it the first day are willing to give it a try. Anyways it sounds like a hit. Maybe it will be at least in Europe since WB is pressuring the radio to play it (as any record company should).

They help keeping interest on the song. Gaga's "Runway" increased +65% on streams after the music video was released.

I'm not sure why Warner didn't do a huge radio deal.  I mean Mariahs last turd of a song got one which was the main drive in it charting.  This is an actual GOOD song.
